The Jester is an independently aligned role who wins by getting lynched. If the Jester wins, they are removed from the game.
I.e. the Jester will lose if they are killed in any other way than being lynched or if they are still alive when the game ends. If the town eliminates all non-town players except for the Jester, the Jester will lose and the town will win. Sometimes, the game ends immediately if the Jester is ever lynched. However, this is considered poor game design, which is why most hosts will simply announce the Jester as a winner upon their lynch and let the game continue in order to determine whether the town or mafia will be the second winner. Many communities consider Jester a fun role, while many others consider it a controversial and anti-fun role that only serves to punish town for getting rid of a non-town player, so keep this in mind if you wish to include it in your setup. Since it's often easy to win as a Jester, they might sometimes have to overcome some restrictions or modifications to their role and/or win condition. For example, an Even Day Jester's win condition is to specifically be lynched on an even-numbered day (Day 2, 4, etc.). Also, in order to balance out a Jester's negative impact on a town's chances of winning, the host might sometimes choose to skip the following night phase or reward the player who places the final vote on the Jester with a prize.
