Eh, biggest issue this game was having no red flip to work with for soooooo long. If you guys had flipped one of us early days there would have been more info to work with and town WIM would have been higher. NGL part of me wanted to hard bus tater on D1 because she could use her role from beyond the grave and I could've used the cred to go even deeper. But trying to play by numbers, it was better for us to be unified than try to rely on a deep wolf plan, and denying town a red flip is always great for scum because of what it does to morale.
I wouldn't talk about morale when you posted your vote especially late, for me to not be able to play.
This was dirty and shades your real performance who was really amazing.
Soneji said catgode should vote first, so I was partially waiting for him to do that. Also I was out all evening at one of my dog agility sessions; I literally got home and started playing again the moment I stepped foot through the door, and yes, it was past my bedtime, too. Having hydra'd with me, and recently scummed with me, you should know that my activity in the evenings is very restricted, and there's a large chunk of time where I can't do much.

the real flips are in postgame, and the way you worded this shows how much of a scum you really are
TBH I don't actually like playing scum; I like being a villager (the vanilla, the better) because I like having a problem to solve.

But that doesn't mean I'm not going to do whatever I can to make it hard for town to win and give them a challenge. That's why we play, isn't it? For the challenge of solving a puzzle, testing ourselves against an unknown foe, and when scum, the challenge of survival against an uninformed majority trying their best to slip a noose around you neck.

And for trying my best despite being gutted that I randed scum after randing town the first time Jaleb started the game, I make no apologies.

I am very, very sorry, town.
I don't think you should ever apologise for prioritising important RL stuff over the game. At the end of the day, it's just that; a game.

Claiming mason when at Eod is not deserted land makes the counter wagon lynched, you unvoted or a CFD occurring.
Town maybe won't believe it but scum may be afraid of your flip when not trusting it and will help you survive most probably.
This is the most powerful role without action because you become certain your partener is always town and both of you can back up each other.
Playing mason is very interesting and you have to protect your partener to not be found because the pair of masons is hunted by wolves.
True. Once Pepperoni flipped, Kajot was obvious as his partner. Easiest role hunt ever tbh.

She was, but my point is, if the Godfather exists to thwart the checks of an alignment cop, then the Disguiser exists to thwart the checks of a rolecop. There were other ways for my role to be revealed - for example, if a town investigative role had seen me targetting another player with my 'Prayers sent to the wrong God' ability - it would have outted me as taking an action when, according to my claimed role, I shouldn't have been able to get any actions.

Like I said before, it's a whole lotta luck involved.

A Godfather is always immune to an alignment cop check, though. The Disguiser role was inkeeping with that, IMO. Here is my role PM, though I have no idea why I would ever choose not to snatch somebody's body at the first available opportunity (especially given the number of players in this game who have played with me before)

And like Jaleb said, if Grant had actually used his Commute ability on N1, I wouldn't have been able to take his identity and I would have been doooooomed.

Possession - Once per game, you may choose to take possession of a body you kill during the night phase. That player's role will be janitored (not revealed to the thread) and you will appear to be that character if any investigations should occur.

Prayers sent to the wrong god - Each night you may select to view a prayer of a target player. You will also see who that player visits as well the people that visit you or your target.
Coincidentally, this was also how Tater knew that myc visited me on N1. We saw his prayer, and the fact that he visited me. Unfortunately she TMI-slipped the knowledge and got herself lynched.

*shakes fist at Tater*

Completed Morning, all! When I woke up and saw a PM...

Morning, all!

When I woke up and saw a PM saying I'd died, I had a minor panic attack and thought you'd lynched me instead of gnome after all.

I maintain what I've said in the past and continue to believe; that role madness games aren't so much about playing mafia and hunting scum, but are more about getting lucky with your actions - as I did on my first night, when apparently every playing with an action (near enough) visited me, but the body I stole (Grant) was perfect for hiding in. If it hadn't been for that (and the fact that we lynched Marv on D1, because he was ALWAYS shooting me that night) it would've been a very different game.

Some solid individual town performances, but in the end it was the lack of cohesion and teamwork that was the village's undoing (us getting lucky with some roleblock choices also helped). Once the vocal and hard-cleared players were out of the way, it was much easier to take thread control. And in this case, mechanics and flavour actually interfered with the town hunt for scum. I think if this had been a mountainous game, I would've been dead within the first 3 days.

Props to Michelle for figuring out me/Mama as the scum team. Sadly for town, it came too late. I would've killed Michelle much earlier, because she's a frightening hunter during end game, but I knew her role wasn't much of a threat to us once it had already outted the knowledge of a disguiser, 4 scum and no 3p.

Props also to MamaTort, who, as first-time scum and first time on MU, absolutely nailed it. Once she has a couple more scum games under her belt, she's going to be terrifying

It was fun playing with you all, and thanks to Jaleb for hosting such an interesting game. I look forward to watching the series some day, as I didn't even know this was a thing until now.

Completed Wow, game is dead. Time to do a thing. El...

Wow, game is dead. Time to do a thing.

El Takes The Bull By The Horns

Dear Towncats

We officially Do Not Like this game. It was fun for about 12 hours today, when we had some info gained from an ACTUAL red flip to work with, but it's getting to that Not Fun stage again.

So!

We're going to put a vote down.

And then we're going to confess to something.

Then we're going to list the actions we think Towncats should take tomorrow.

But first, a kittermission.

First, our vote

##Vote Garden Gnome

Why? Because we think Gnome rat-slipped hard today. Yesterday she claimed a protective role with a series of increasingly powerful protective abilities, yet when Wisdom most needed protection, Gnome's role suddenly changed into a kill ability that defies the setup (because according to what we know from the mechanics, rat factional kills are not assigned. The power she claims to have can simply NOT work).

"But Gnome got publically green-checked!"

Yes. But as we've seen, a Godfather/Disguiser role is in play. And while we've never seen one used, we believe they exist purely to make Alignment Cops more unreliable. We have yet to hear anyone claim alignment cop, and none have flipped, so it's likely that role exists in this game purely to throw off other types of investigation, such as Rolecop and the Wish mechanic. The fact that she also hasn't come back to give her reads tells us she knows her claim has been outted as fake and has given up.

"So, what now?"

Today we vote Gnome. We're going to lay out what you should do tomorrow.

"Why lay it out?"

Because... ahem hem...

WE HAVE ALREADY USED OUR COMMUTE ABILITY ON A PREVIOUS NIGHT

That's right. One N3, after Wisdom's claim to have lost her Rolecop abilities, we figured we ourselves would make the next juiciest target, so we commuted. Big, juicy, unprotected NK right here. Come get us, ratsies!

Here's the rest of my reads. I'm not saying this is what you 100% should do tomorrow. But it's what I would do (and WILL do, should rats decide to NOT call my bluff (lolrats)).

DO NOT LYNCH

Soneji. If I'm right, then Percy lied about his actions and Roleblocked Soneji so that his prayer from the dead was interfered with. We already know that Soneji CAN hear the prayers of the dead - myc/Wisdom confirmed this for us. What use is it rats to have a role like that? We can imagine it is of little or no use. But a town role? It might allow Soneji to discern and build a towncat core. Not only is his role confirmed by myc, but if I'm right then there is no world in which Soneji/Percy are ever scum together.

Michelle. I've been on-and-off her all game, but the towncat read that developed over the last day or two has only strengthened today. Why? Not just an increase in activity, WIM and overall solviness, but the fact that she FoS'd Mamatort late today. We see little or no reason for a rat to backtrack on a former towncat read and suggest they be re-evaluated. It's rocking the boat in a way that makes little or no sense coming from a rat. Going against some of her strongest towncat reads on this matter (myself, Soneji) in fact makes her look more dubious, which again, we don't think a rat would want to do in this position. Rats would want an easy mislynch, not to bury their own 4 days' worth of reads.

Mamatort. Soneji put this better than I could, but her posts have been consistently self-conscious town rather than self-conscious rat. Where the rest of us cling to meta of each other, Mamatort clings to the lore/flavour of the setup because she has no meta. It feels like she's trying to use that to guide her way through the game. She would not need to cling to this if she had ratmates to coach her. She feels like she's constantly grasping at straws, and that's a feeling we can understand.

DO LYNCH

Percy. If he's scum, this would not be the first time he's fooled us. Or, rather, that we've allowed ourselves to be fooled by not being more critical of him. The first couple of days of his play were very much in towncat!Percy meta, but since then his contributions have dropped drastically and there have been discrepancies in the things he says (pointed out previously by Soneji) that he has not been adequately able to answer (or even tried to address). As well, given Percy's claim that he roleblocked Soneji yet Soneji still received a prayer on that Night, is enough to make us doubt the role and actions he has claimed. Could Soneji be lying about receiving a prayer? Technically possible, we guess, but given that his role is confirmed by myc, this makes him very likely towncat, and towncats have no reason to lie.

catgode. Little surprise he is on this list. For a number of days, he towncat-read us, but we still don't know why. Most people who've never played with us before consider us pretty scummy (which a number of people did D1). His flip on us came abruptly and in a way that does not feel natural. Today, a number of things ping us as off. First, the insistence that he check with the host that the factional kill was not assigned for the whole game, and not just N1 - a strong desire to defend Gnome's new kill ability claim. Second, the way he pushes Mamatort off of Michelle's suspicion - a basic me-too of her post. AP barely mentions catgode, the most notable being to express the opinion that he could not be the story writer. And now he demonstrates a depth of flavour knowledge which he claims to be new, but we very much doubt. We see no reason for towncats to hide their knowledge of flavour.

So, that's where we are now. Gnome, Percy, Catgode. That is our solve. We are lynching Gnome today, for the claim turned out to be impossible, and for copying Wisdom's "I misunderstood my role" excuse (because hell, it worked for Wisdom, so why not give it a try?).

See you in deadchat, towncats.

Saw this on my way out, short answer: yes and no. Every magician is capable, Penny chooses not to use it except in self-defense and because it's illegal and he's a Brakebills student. Maybe he will later in the show, I'm mid-season 2.
Isn't Battle Magic not a part of Brakebills curriculum anymore? You need to know the spells before you cast them, no?

Penny's alignment might depend on how exactly Library would be aligned.

Even we understood it was near impossible for the additional night-kills to be coming from a town-aligned role, given Marv's flip.
some people had doubts about that for a short period of time, did they not?
We recall some speculation, but we don't recall anybody seriously pushing the concept of the kills being from a town-aligned player.

Perhaps Marv's ratty twin - a 2-shot ratvig? Would like to hear from @MamaTort on whether there is such a thing inkeeping with flavour, based on Marv's character.
Despite those people who are saying the flavor doesn't matter, I still think it does, to some degree. The roles seem to line up with the flavor so it certainly provides a perspective so I am doing as El asked.

Marluxion (Kady Orloff-Diaz)
Kady is a hedgewitch, which basically means she is not classically trained at the university like Quentin et al. but is rather more street taught. She started at Brakebills (the university) but dropped out when she and Penny broke up and things got rough for her personally. For the Brakebills students, battle magic is illegal, but for hedgewitches, it’s their bread and butter. So I would start by looking at anyone claiming to be a character who is a hedgewitch. Also, she started out in Marina’s posse but then switched to helping Quentin and co. when the situation got dire, despite still being on the outs with Penny, so I would also look at characters who are good in a pinch.

Soneji (Persephone)
Benevolent goddess who tries to show mercy, even against evil characters. Haven’t seen much of her yet though, so have to go on what the wiki says. From what I’ve seen, being a vig would not fit this flavor.

Michelle (Henry Fogg)
Dean at Brakebills and a very powerful magician. He’s the reason battle magic is considered illegal for the students, because he saw how dangerous it can be. That being said, he does know it and could use it, but he seems most interested in the safety of the students and the protection of the magical world. I can’t see this role as vig.

El-ahrairah (Penny Adiyodi)
Penny is a traveler, can go places physically and in his mind. He is actually opposed to using battle magic and is die-hard Brakebills and can always be counted on in a pinch.

MamaTort (Mischa Mayakovsky)
Brakebills professor who was banished to Antarctica for sleeping with a student. Primary focuses are in experimenting with magic, specifically trying to store magic in batteries for times when magic is not available. Known for being rough on students and using abrasive teaching methods that actually make the students better. Not likely a vig.

Catgode (Josh Hoberman)
Brakebills student who ditches people in a pinch. Not sure if he uses battle magic, but is a herbologist so poisons is a believable skillset. Could be a vig, maybe a 1 shot instead of a 2 shot like Marl.

Garden Gnome (Julia Wicker)
Hedgewitch who was disqualified from Brakebills and trained under Marina for a while before being kicked out of that coven and is not only okay with using battle magic but has used it multiple times. She’s also Quentin’s lifelong best friend which made Alice crazy jealous when Quentin would worry/talk about her. When the team made the plan to kill the Beast, she tried to go against the plan to use him for her own purposes. I see this as most likely to be the vig.

Percy (???)
I can’t find where he claimed a flavor so I dunno.
Yeah... we want to watch this show someday so are not going to read that, it seems entirely spoilerlicious.

All we wanted to know was whether Marv's character might have an equal/opposite rat-aligned counterpart that is inkeeping with the flavour.

Why would the host confirm this? It's kind of bad form for mechanics unrelated to your role to be modfirmed.
if the intent of the message (that was posted publicly) was to inform us that the mechanic is a permament part of the game, but players get it wrong and ask for confirmation, i believe it would make sense to explain the proper meaning.
if this was meant to be a secret, Jaleb would probably say something akin to "I can't talk about that". you're free to ask yourself, though!

This is the strongest argument to AP/GG not being paired because of the wagons all being at 2 votes at this time, which even though AP voted with only ten minutes left, could easily have resulted in a GG lynch especially given earlier wagon on them.
Unless the team is AP/GG/Catgode+1 and the plan was always for one of the other rats to tip a wagon (which Catgode did by voting on Pepperoni). We weren't on for EoD so can't be 100% sure of the vibe at the time but looking back it seemed very quiet. A distancing vote could be worth the risk.

Looking at this post, we suspect the rats may have some sort of Rolecop ability. Very odd how Tater talks about prayers while discussing things with Soneji, as if she knew his role was related to the prayer mechanic. It seems plausible to us that if he's town, they copped him and deemed his power not a threat.

Hello, my friend! As a matter of fact, I believe I am in a position to make some observations in terms of the game so far.

In terms of the game (for a 17er) it seems to me that the post rate is abnormally low at this point. Not surprisingly, I find that concerning although I’m not sure what to make of that. Before you respond about the pot calling the kettle black, I am currently at work and am limited to responding to the thread during breaks.

In terms of specific players, I’m looking at establishing my Town-core right now. Usually I’d be looking to:
El: The player I’m probably most familiar of everyone this game. Just waiting for him to ‘Town’ it up any time now (as he usually does from about this point on).

Grant: Hasn’t posted yet.

Garden Gnome: Just need a little more from her before I can confirm the identity of the good old Town Gnome I’ve come to know so well.

Wisdom: Was almost there until that post about discussing roles. In a more conventional game, I could almost see some benefits to that strategy but especially in a ‘madness’ game, proposing such a thing just sends my spidey-sense right off.

As I mentioned earlier, there’s not really a lot to go off right now but I’ll update these (and others) as I notice pertinent content.
@Percy can you tell me what exactly you were looking for from Gnome at this stage?

This sounds like you were blocked on N3 - we can't imagine what "interfered with" means otherwise. Unless the rats have an ability that can interfere with passive actions. Is there even such a thing?

Would Wisdom have received any results from her Rolecop if she was NK'd? We thought that kills went ahead of Investigates in the order of resolving night actions. Or maybe she forgot to submit one?

Each morning the villagers cautiously emerged from their homes, wondering who would be next and who was behind their collective anguish. They tried their best to go about their day, hopeful that the police would find whoever was responsible.

Near the docks, Wisdom, MamaTort, and Soneji were haggling with fishmongers. Catgode was discussing the recent events with AngryPotato near the produce cart. Inside the bar, Crazeeflapjack slumped on the counter, heavy into a bottle to numb his frayed nerves while Garden Gnome, the bartender dried the glasses. Percy sat in a rocking chair out in front of his shop, watching the activity in the village. Just then, a man dressed in armor charged toward Percy’s shop.

“Gypsum! Is everything okay?”

“I'm afraid not,” the stone faced villager replied. “It's... I don’t know what it was, but I saw something destroy some villagers!”

“Then we have to do something,” Percy said as he scrambled to his feet.
"I know where to start,” Gypsum replied. “The blacksmith!” He bolted off down the street and Percy followed quickly behind. They found Michelle and El-ahrairah hard at work in the blacksmith’s shop and recruited them for the cause. They then went back to the rest of the villagers and called them to action. Soon, everyone was part of the mob, ready to face the danger. Everyone except Crazeeflapjack, as he was thoroughly passed out.

Once everyone was ready to go, they took a shortcut through some back gardens, jumping fences along the way. They came out of an alley across from the library and stayed hidden in the shadows.

“What is it?” Wisdom whispered.

“That's the thing I saw over by the mill,” AngryPotato said quietly.

“How do we kill it?” MamaTort asked.

“We have to attack it together or it will pick us off one by one,” Gypsum explained.

“Then what are we waiting for?” Michelle urged.

The villagers rushed headlong into battle and began to fight for their lives.

(to be continued...)

Yes, you were. All players were listed. But now that we look at the story in more depth, we think we have seen a perspective slip, which we have highlighted in bold. At first it is Gypsum who runs upto the villagers, and then it is Tater who says "that's what I saw". We suspect she was starting to get sloppy by this point, given this slip and the shortness of the story compared to the previous ones.

In hindsight it sounds like an attempt to shade crazee by saying he wasn't part of the mob due to being passed out.

Tapping her foot as she leafed through the pages of the newspaper, Zelda Schiff tried to subdue the prickly feeling of irritation rising in her stomach. She’d sent her masterfully crafted story to several free publications hoping to catch the attention of a literary agent. That had been a week ago, and since then, the agents had not been beating down her door in an attempt to sign her up.

Over her shoulder, the ghost of Marluxion hung uncertainly, his ethereal form flickering with growing concern. At last he asked, “What are you looking for?”

“Today the newspaper’s critics are reviewing stories and novels. Surely somebody has read the children’s story I wrote.”

When she reached the reviews page her eyes danced hungrily over the words until she found mention of her tale. There was just one short paragraph. As she read it, her hope faded and her anger rose on an emotional teeter-totter.

The words left her mouth in an angry splutter. “An enemy of town… scum… evil???” She closed the newspaper and slammed it down on the table, causing the ghost of Marluxion to flicker almost to nothing. “I’ll give them evil!”

Anger fuelled her steps as she strode towards the closet and flung open the doors, and she embraced the feeling. Anger was good. She could work with anger. It kept away the tears of disappointment which so desperately tried to leak from her eyes.
From the bottom of the closet she pulled out an aged iron cauldron, a family heirloom that hadn’t seen use in at least a generation. With it came an ancient spell book, bound in dragon-hide and sealed with a lock to which only Zelda and one other person held keys. Setting both items aside for a moment, she rifled through her clothes until she found the darkest dress she owned, and she teamed it with a dark robe and an old-fashioned witch hat.

Marluxion’s courage, or perhaps his worry, grew. His form became a little more solid, a little more real, as he floated towards Zelda. “Are you sure perpetuating the old stereotypes of evil witches is the way to go?” She ignored his question. What did he know? He was dead, after all. “What are you going to do?”

She lifted her chin in defiance. “I am going to become what they have made me.”

Marluxion’s objections came thick and fast, but Zelda ignored them as she unlocked the spell book and turned to the page titled ‘Curses’. From her store cupboard came a number of magical potions, which she poured into the cauldron in the correct measures according to the instructions of the darkest curse she could find.

Finally, she turned to Marluxion. “Do you still have that Garden Gnome that you had Gypsum and Lipson steal from Todd’s enchanted house?”

“I still can’t believe you put that in your story,” Marluxion grumbled. “It’s hardly a good example for children, is it?”

“The Gnome, ghost!” she demanded.

“Yes, yes, I stashed it under your bed before I died. It should still be there. Why? What do you need it for?”

“Curses of this magnitude require a sacrifice,” she pointed out. “And I have sacrificed enough already.”
Maluxion’s pleas for leniency and forgiveness went unheeded as Zelda retrieved the purloined Gnome and tossed it into the cauldron. Its cries of pain were like nails down a chalkboard – a swansong that would be the doom of those uncultured critics.

When she started to speak the dark words of the curse, Marluxion covered his ephemeral ears with his hands. It didn’t work. These words were not words heard merely on the physical plane – they cut right to the soul of anything present at their speaking, living or dead.

Energy crackled around the cauldron, the mixture within bubbling as if churned by some powerful force. Marluxion wanted to look away. To go away. But he couldn’t. Where Zelda went, he went. Such was the nature of his own curse.

“First, the so-called faithful canine, Michelle,” said Zelda. “What is a dog without a tail to wag? Let her tail be gone!”

The energy around the cauldron spiked with an angry fury, and Zelda’s confidence spiked with it. This was working!

“MamaTort, the tortoise. She carries her home on her back, but may she be cursed to never use it. The door of her own home will remain closed to her forever. And Kajot the chameleon. She sees too much and hides too well. Let her instead become a slug!”

With each curse, the color of the liquid in the cauldron shimmered, each spell discharged to work its malevolent magic upon its hapless victim.

“Next, myc, the wolf who sees behind magic. I conjure forth a huntsman, to track him down and skin his hide for a fine new wolf-skin cloak! And El-ahrairah, the cat. Nine lives shall become one, and it will be the shortest one of all.

“For the fox, Soneji, I call upon the Wild Hunt to run him down and drag his soul to Hell. And for Gypsum? Let his name resound with truth, and turn his flesh to stone.”

Had he been living, Marluxion would’ve heaved a sigh of relief. Zelda’s curses had taken hold, but at least some people had been spared that dark fate.
As if hearing his thoughts, Zelda smirked, and turned back to the cauldron. “I have not yet finished. I realise, now, that my story was incomplete. It needed more characters, so I shall include them now, and they will share in the misery of the rest.

“For the one named catgode, I curse him with painful boils over every inch of his body. Let his pain be so great that he can’t even sleep at nights.

“Angrypotato’s curse will be one of amnesia; not for her, but for everyone she loves. Imagine her face the next time she approaches her beloved friends, and none remember who she is!

“For Percy, whose politeness is famed, I enact a curse of rudeness. May he never speak the word ‘please’ or ‘thank you’, may he never compliment another person, and may he never speak without offering grave insult.

“Wisdom’s name shall become her curse, a curse of irony. We take her wisdom and turn her into the village fool. All who see her will laugh and throw rotten fruit at her.

“Last but not least is crazeeflapjack, who I strike with a curse of loneliness. Let those who befriend him suffer terrible ills, so that all who see him will drive him from their homes and their hearts and he shall wander friendless and unloved until the day that he dies.”

At last the energy around the cauldron stopped crackling and the liquid within turned clear, now reduced to mere water. Zelda slumped to the floor, sweat pouring down her face. It had taken every drop of magical talent she possessed, but it had been worth it. And she could not wait to see the results of her hard work on those who had insulted her so thoroughly.
The N2 story mentions everyone, this time, and it is unpleasant towards everyone. Maybe AP was trying to make it harder to discern her ratmates from this? Maybe she didn't mention everybody in the first story because the plan was to always have someone else do the Roleblock that first night?

Also we just recalled that the amount of kill power possessed in this game does not match the claims given, so someone is definitely lying.

IF Percy is indeed a rat JoAT with a 1-shot role block, and he did Roleblock Wisdom on N2 isntead of Tater, then we can probably surmise it is one of the other rats who was responsible for the additional kills on N1 and N2. Perhaps Marv's ratty twin - a 2-shot ratvig? Would like to hear from @MamaTort on whether there is such a thing inkeeping with flavour, based on Marv's character.

We recall catgode saying that he was roleblocked on N3, and he does appear in the N2 story along with everyone else.

She worked by candlelight as her faithful canine, Michelle, rested comfortably in front of the fireplace nearby. “I shall start in the conventional method,” she thought to herself and began to write.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, in a land not too far away, there stood a quiet house in a quiet village. The walls were painted in a dull shade of brown and the roof was made of neatly lain thatch. The windows were slightly dirty and in need of cleaning but still clear enough to let in light on pleasant afternoons. The garden appeared to be tended but was perhaps due for a trim. The lengthening grass was beginning to hide the Garden Gnome sitting off to the side of the front door.

Off to one side of the yard, in a small fenced area MamaTort plodded lazily around in search of something to eat. In the tree above her, hidden among the leaves, sat Kajot the chameleon, watching the aged tortoise roam from dandelion plant to grass thicket, munching happily as she went. To the casual observer, this house and everything in it appeared ordinary in every way.

This was true for everyone who saw the house except for one special wolf who casually observed the house from his place in the woods. myc could see through the house’s disguise. Inside this ordinary house lived a charming human who could speak to animals. Todd was kind and spent almost all of the time inside the house but the animals in the yard enjoyed the sound of his merry whistling on days when the windows were opened.

One sunny day, while El-ahrairah the cat lay on a stump near the yard, having a casual conversation with Soneji, the fox who prowled the area hunting vermin, a movement was spotted off to the side of the house. The animals all stopped what they were doing and watched as a small group of humans approached. These humans were much smaller than Todd, only half his size really. The fur atop their heads was messy and there were smudges of dirt on the flesh of the faces. “Clearly, they would make horrid cats,” Soneji joked.

The miniature humans crept around the corner of the house and looked around suspiciously. One of them grabbed up the gnome before they scampered off, coming dangerously close to where myc was hiding and never even realizing he was there. The cat sprang from the stump, sauntered toward the house, and leaped into the window, meowing loudly. Todd came to the window and smiled, “El, did I not remember to put out your breakfast?” He placed a plate of chicken scraps on the windowsill and gave the cat a pat on the head.

El rolled their eyes, “Those children, the ones you call Gypsum and Lipson, have stolen the gnome again.”

Todd spoke with far too much glee in his voice for the cat’s liking, “Maybe Marluxion bids them steal all the gnomes for a magical potion.”

“You grant them far too much freedom,” the cat purred.

“Perhaps, but they are children, they mean no harm,” he replied. “I’ll go into town and purchase another from Grant tomorrow.”

The cat looked longingly in the direction the small humans had run and considered giving chase but the aroma of the chicken won over. El sat beside the plate and began to dine. Child chasing would have to wait, roast chicken was far more important.

Before she could finish the story, Zelda dozed off and dreamed of talking animals.

We are now not sure the stories serve any purpose at all. In this N1 story, Wisdom was not mentioned. Yet Wisdom claimed to have been roleblocked on N2. In line with Tater's Role PM, this should not have been possible

If the stories appease the readers, you may target a player mentioned in that story and they will be roleblocked the following night phase.
How can this be possible? Unless we have a towncats roleblocker who has lied about their power, or scum had a secondary roleblocker function... perhaps a 1-shot?

Role PM for Magicians

Hello Angrypotato,

You are Christopher Plover, children's story teller. You are an Englishman known for publishing the Fillory and Further books as you are told stories of the land by the Chatwin children. You had so much interest in the children, often trapping them in your basement, one of which you went a bit too far for young Martin.

You are a story teller/roleblocker. Each night you will create story post that will be shared at the start of next day phase publicly in a post from the mod. You may create it in any way you want including with an image or just in a novel form. You may mention any number of players in your post.

You also are able to trap people in your basement and quiet them for the night phase. If the stories appease the readers, you may target a player mentioned in that story and they will be roleblocked the following night phase.

Can't die: Martin has put a curse on your life when he took power over Fillory. If you should die, you may remain in mafia chat and perform your given actions while you remain in the chat.

As Mafia, you have access to the Factional Night Kill Night Action. Players targeted with this action will die at the end of the Night unless protected.

Please wait for the mod to send you your individual role pm.
Wait, if we are understanding this correctly, this means that even though AP is no longer in the game, she can still be in rat-chat and use her power? So why didn't we get a story last night?
