M Plus 7 has stepped down. We wish him the best.
vanity. has stepped down from the modteam. We wish him all the best in the future.
After another go helping the site from her perch on high, lute is leaving us once more. You can read about it here.
To take her place, dyachei is being lowered to the rank of purple, where I'm sure she'll do an equally excellent job.
Mill Crab is a flake mod too. Lowposters beware.
ladd is a moderator
vanity. is a flake moderator
panini is a discord moderator
@lute edit this to look professional i'm lazy
My family poops big. Maybe it's genetic, maybe it's our diet, but everyone births giant logs of crap. If anyone has laid a mega-poop, you know that sometimes it won't flush. It lays across the hole in the bottom of the bowl and the vortex of draining water merely gives it a spin as it mocks you.
Growing up, this was a common enough occurrence that our family had a poop knife. It was an old rusty kitchen knife that hung on a nail in the laundry room, only to be used for that purpose. It was normal to walk through the hallway and have someone call out "hey, can you get me the poop knife"?
I thought it was standard kit. You have your plunger, your toilet brush, and your poop knife.
Fast forward to 22. It's been a day or two between poops and I'm over at my friend's house. My friend was the local dealer and always had 'guests' over, because you can't buy weed without sitting on your $%#! and sampling it for an hour. I excuse myself and lay a gigantic turd. I look down and see that it's a sideways one, so I crack the door and call out for my friend. He arrives and I ask him for his poop knife.
Your poop knife, I say. I need to use it. Please.
"Wtf is a poop knife?"
Obviously he has one, but maybe he calls it by a more delicate name. A fecal cleaver? A Dung divider? A guano glaive? I explain what it is I want and why I want it.
He starts giggling. Then laughing. Then lots of people start laughing. It turns out, the music stopped and everyone heard my pleas through the door. It also turns out that none of them had poop knives, it was just my $%#!ed up family with their $%#!ed up bowels. FML.
I told this to my wife last night, who was amused and horrified at the same time. It turns out that she did not know what a poop knife was and had been using the old rusty knife hanging in the utility closet as a basic utility knife. Thankfully she didn't cook with it, but used it to open Amazon boxes.
She will be getting her own utility knife now.
[Edit: Common question - Why was this not in the bathroom instead of the laundry room? Answer. We only had one poop knife, and the laundry room was central to all three bathrooms. I have no idea why we didn't have three poop knives. All I know is that we didn't. We had the one. Possibly because my father was notoriously cheap about the weirdest things. So yes, we shared our poop knife.]
AragakiAyase has stepped down from the staff. We wish him the best.
Versativa has elected to step down. We wish them all the best.
Please welcome Versativa and Animal Midwife back to staff as members of the green team! They'll be primarily slotted as event organizers... for now.
After a whirlwind of a 6(ish) months, GeneralHankerchief is stepping down from the staff. He was a steadying hand at the helm during a turbulent time for the staff and the site, and I think I speak for the whole team when I say that I greatly appreciate him being a stabilizing force. He will be difficult to replace...
so we found two people to do it!
Duk3star is here to further solidify MiniMafia's hold over our humble website, while lute needs no introduction, beacause she is inscrutable, unfathomable, and unstoppable. The two of them join Newcomb to recreate the triumvirate and fulfill the prophecy of aeons past.
Obligatory condolences joke to both of you!
we found lute between the couch cushions and decided to find out if she still works
also SmartBomb is a mod now
Note that due to the site rollback, Dp101 will be displaying on the forum as a full Moderator until I can restore the Flake Moderator usergroup on the backend. They haven't magically been promoted.
For a variety of reasons, I'm taking a leave of absence until the new year. I'll still be reachable in case of emergency, but otherwise if you need a red I promise Makaze doesn't bite.
also teal is my favorite color
Orange is a great color and all, but let's talk about teal real quick.
As of late, there's been some confusion as to where the exact line falls between what constitutes a Discord moderator and what constitutes a forum moderator, both publicly and internally. The original intent was for Discord mods to focus solely on Discord, and for their permissions (or lack thereof) to reflect this; as time went on, however, their role has slowly expanded more and more as cooperation between the two sets of mods has proven vital to community operations, and the line has become very blurred.
Going forward, I want to make the following division official: Discord moderators and forum moderators both have full access to and jurisdiction over both Discord and forum moderation. The distinction, then, will lie in focus: Discord moderators will be primarily tasked with observing and moderating the Discord server, and should accordingly be the first moderators approached with Discord-related issues. The same goes for forum mods and forum-related issues.
SO WITH THAT BEING SAID,
please welcome dyachei to the Discord moderator team!
And on a completely unrelated but coincidentally timed note, please welcome M plus 7 to the moderator team!
Obligatory condolences to both of you. It's nice to be able to announce someone joining the modteam for once, so both of y'all's willingness to help out is greatly appreciated.
Logic has joined the Community Contributors team.
Animal Midwife has joined the Community Contributors team.
SmartBomb has joined the Community Contributors team.
Shinichi has joined the Community Contributors team.
Mantichora will be taking on queue-related duties in addition to his setup reviewing.
Keep an eye on this space in the coming days - unless something goes horribly wrong, I anticipate a not-insignificant amount of orange names incoming!
Cemeteries joins the ranks of the Community Contributors! On top of helping with the database, she's focusing on creating a glossary of common mafia terms as part of the MU Growth Project.
bopolis has elected to step down from the setup review team. We wish him the best.
Hallia has elected to step down from the staff. We thank her for her dedicated work and wish her the best moving forward.
Hey folks. Quick reminder that this is first and foremost an announcement thread, so that users can stay informed about changes to the staff. Personal matters, especially those that become heated or negative, should be checked at the door.
That said, we welcome NotACop back to the ranks of the Administrators! He'll be focusing primarily on community outreach and cross-site coordination, as well as assisting Makaze with programming.
Empoof is the newest blue team victim, in addition to his Setup Review duties! Congratulations/condolences.
Also that towards GeneralHankerchief I guess.
It's easier to post one announcement than 2+ so if a staff change goes unannounced there's probably a reason why
lute has elected to step down from the staff. And now I'm going to write some words about both her and Nego and see how it goes.
I vividly remember my first ever interaction with lute. In my first game on Mafia Universe, in my first readslist, my one and only comment about lute was "needs to $%#!post less". What an idiot, right? In the time since then lute's become one of my closest friends on the site, someone who makes anything she's involved in instantly more enjoyable. She was also one hell of a mod, to the degree that when I first joined the staff I found myself sheeping her to some degree more often than not, usually to great success.
Nego was also someone I met very early on in my time here at MU, and the thing that struck me about them instantly was how genuine they were. Nego is flat-out one of the kindest people I've ever met on the internet, bar none, and their genuine enthusiasm for the things they care about is absolutely infectious. The games that Nego's hosted that I've played in are some of the most fun I've had here, and Nego's approach to moderation rubbed off on me more than a little bit as well.
While I have no doubt that the staff will keep on chugging in both of their absences, both lute and Nego were fantastic staffers and remain very close friends of mine. From the bottom of my heart, I thank them for their service. They will be missed.
The vacated head moderator position will remain empty for the time being while some things are worked out behind the scenes. Stay tuned.
