Rachyl has been permanently banned from MafiaUniverse.

We don't do this often, but there were egregious violations on another site that would cause trouble on Mafia Universe. We decided to pro-actively ban Rachyl to avoid these problems in our immediate future. Reminder that we're not a police state shindig that monitors your thoughts and pasts, but if serious stuff comes to our attention we're not going to just ignore it and pretend things will magically work out differently here.

I'm just gonna get it out of the way right now: I am a bad role-player. I've played the games enough to know what every single option leads to (in terms of paragon/renegade changes, future options, etc.) all the way up through ME3. As a result, I'm just going to pick options that lead to my preferred outcomes. A perfect world state crafted by me, the goddess lute, that my vessel, Amanda Shepard, much dance through according to my whims.

And you're not getting a pic, voyeurs.

zorks proposition creates a lot of unnecessary work for flake mods

imo this is a lot of fuss over a miniscule issue
subbing out is bad because you get to know players and their approach to the agem, and someone subbing out mid-game means you have to solvevthemmagain most of the time

like, if someone's behaviour changes after a scum lynch, that tells you something, but not if the pplayer changed
like, scum plan for a player to survive because they don't contribute much, and then a string townie subs in, strategy down the drain

subs make a game harder to play
    subbing makes games less fun
it definitely makes the game harder, but imo that is part of the game's challenge

its easier to play with an active player than an inactive one. a 5 poster is generally harder to read than an active one engaged in the thread discussion

subbing brings activity and life to the game

subbing as a lowposter is more protown because a better player can avoid a mislynch
To bounce off SR, a challenge is not in and of itself worthy of aspiration. If my mouse only accepts input 66% of the time, a great deal of games become more challenging, but none of them become more fun.

It is easier to play with an active player, and also a great deal more fun, hence why subbing out low-posters is even on the table to begin with. Substitutions do indeed bring life, but only to a corpse. The ideal is to avoid situations in which it is necessary to perform acts of necromancy by proxy.

As for it being protown, while this is objectively true, it's also objectively true that logging into everyone else's accounts and checking their rolecards is protown. That doesn't mean it's good for the game, which in a way, means it's not protown. Substitutions to gain an advantage for your team are not only just generally vile, but will also cause Lissa to come to your house and sneeze on you for multiple hours while you lie there, piteously, curled into the fetal position unable to defend yourself. And then you get a ban.

When it comes to making game rules, protocols, and guidelines, the main focus should always be on making the game fun. If an element is not fun to deal with, or only fun for a minority, it shouldn't be considered. OGI can be fun, it can make you feel particularly clever for "thinking outside the box," but at the same time it's not fun at all on the receiving end, and there's no real counterplay opportunities outside of engaging in OGI yourself potentially, and this isn't even accounting for the way these interactions tend to unravel games completely. Substitutions are in a similar category. They are necessary, since it's impossible to expect everyone to always contribute all the time with no accidents or mistakes, and it's also impossible to expect everyone to not just screw off, because people who'll sign up and dash out are bound to crop up. Policy should be formed around preventing substitutions when we can, and minimizing the impact of substitutions when we cannot.

I write this in purely objective standpoint regardless of my position in the post that caused this poll to be made.

While I know what you are trying to say and where you are coming from, obviously this logic is not tolerated in Mafia Universe and pretty much a lot of places in the world. Just because you had no "malicious intent" does not mean you cannot offend others with it. It doesn't mean your actions will not be punished.

We all know [REDACTED] did not say "rape" maliciously during the game. But people were still offended.

as a Euromutt I'll admit to an inherent bias against and detachment from the negative connotations of the phrase

That said, if enough people share DT's outlook I wouldn't be opposed to phasing it out, but I'd aim to phase out the meaning rather than the term itself. As an example, if everyone agreed with bop's definition of the term, we wouldn't have any issues. The 3 letters themselves can't and really shouldn't be regulated in my skewed opinion. It's useful game terminology and I wouldn't want to muss with that aspect.

Seththeking (and, by extension, alternate account Solvis) has been permanently banned for a variety of reasons, the most pressing of which being several rape jokes, multiple sexual comments regarding other users, and generally being an obnoxious git.

In all seriousness, this $#@! won't fly. You don't joke about rape. Done. You don't drag other users into your perversions. This is a deal breaker. You don't get one month for it, you don't get three months, you get a perma. Know better. Be better.

  36. Poll: Where I'm at with this is basically just Zapp's...

Where I'm at with this is basically just Zapp's post word for word. A right to privacy is a big part of the MU ethos and it makes sense that this extends to private chats. I don't believe access to these chats to be an inalienable right, but instead a privilege. The default state is that wolf chats remain private, even if the majority of them do not remain private, in the same vein that most people get more than a 0 on a test, but 0 is still the default state of your score. Reversing the default state to reflect majority, or plurality, or minority or one stooge or whatever is just an unnecessary stripping of freedoms.

and I was gonna type more but I'm being whisked away to eat breakfast I'll finish this later or maybe I'll forget see ya

Yeah so as I was saying, I think even if 100% of wolf chats were released by choice for a year straight it'd still be silly to make their release mandatory. It's a needless restriction.

also frankly I find the idea of people hiding their super secret wolf strats and thoughts by keeping wolfchat private is kinda ludicrous in a "I am hardcore WW player" sort of way but hey I won't scoff at your reasoning for keeping your privates private it's your right
