As a follow-up to the last video, here are some first impressions on the 13 games we played down in Essen, some of which are still to be released. Spoiler alert: We deem 4 of them worthy of buying, and a couple of them in particular are very excellent!
Me, the wifey and the baby went to Essen Spiel - the world's largest convention - and brought home 30 new games

DAY 7
Scott Howard was lynched. He was Louis-Antoine of France – the last “Dauphin”, or heir apparent – who ascended the French throne as King Louis XIX, succeeding his father, Charles X, who had abdicated. And with that, the longest mafia game in history is completed, beating the previous record by close to 2 years.
I apologize for the late reveal. I was obviously trying to make it the longest wait ever for a reveal.
Whoop whoop, the baby delayed us quite significantly... But here it finally is - a ranking of 50 board games from 2021
I am not allowed to say and think that I think wolves might be dodging the thread????I am going to kick myself for responding to this but
I do agree that it's not good to say if someone is town they'd definitely check in.
Like what if they have dinner plans? Work an evening shift? Something came up? Etc.
On sign up, people owe you 10 posts a day, and... that's it, mechanically. To some extent they owe you trying to win, but not any specific time commitment.
I do try to always check in (and that's regardless of role because as wolf I'd emulate the town thing) but this ties in to what I said, about disliking expectations of what someone "should" be doing. It's different than voting behaviour.

I don’t think I would, for example. But it’s a weakish role and it’s a big game, so dunno.

Never have I as a villager not still popped in to make myself aware of the situation, cast a vote and in a case like this where people are voting Valentine made sure that that wagon died.

As for Valentine... I just buy it lol. But feel free to call me wack if wrong. If Valentine’s a wolf they’d have a team to help with a claim.

My reads have been ok at best this game
It's quite tough when you don't have a handle on the game and don't really even know the specifics behind the mechanical clears and such
I just hear the details and then I find myself defending you for maybe stupid reasons
I will say that the reads I have expressed confidence on and have not backed down from again have proven to be good in this game
but to answer your question... Dels has to be one.

i.r.t to your post earlier: and i am trying to not be salty here but. i have not played mafia in 2 years. part of the reason i left is because i was expected to tryhard every game, and any time i said "i'm just chilling, i don't wanna do ISOs and cases and etc" people demanded that no, i have to meet the bar, have to be a high-level townie, etc. i have zero desire to put in that effort level anymore, and quite frankly i don't even remember how, my eyes glaze over at all the isos and cases and stuff. i'm not really the same person.
i signed up for this game because of amrock and because of the massive playerlist making me feel FOMO, just wanted to hang out, meet min post reqs, hopefully signal boost some good stuff, and find people i trust who i can sheep, and follow shot lists and do what i can to help town.
@Weedle @beeboy i get that bussing is a thing that happens and you have to consider it but spf is a highly skilled player, was high poster, and had herself already bussed nutella to get cred. plus was apparently KP. why would i do that as someone low-posting, and who isn't even trying to sway anyone afterwards? i didn't just vote, but i brought it up to achro at start of day 2 when he has (sort of) a bunch of sway. sure wolves can do suboptimal things sometimes but idk, that'd be dumb. i just think it's dumb.
but there's really nothing else i can say for myself, and like i said, players who don't do much get shot in mashes, and i don't have anything else to my name. as long as i live i'm mostly just going to continue to be following shot lists from people like celever, multi, lumi, etc.

but I'm working within his perspective on the game and I believe we're coming to multiple correct woofs in succession here
- he questioned me when I somewhat mistakenly said I townread quick ben, which led me to reverse the read and wagon him and he helped
- he has been vocal about jmurder, someone I wasn't looking at
- he has amplified villagery credits for people I don't think wolves would necessarily extend right now, in a chaotic and swingy gamestate when they easily could go unsaid
I think there are bigger mistakes to be made than just trusting a read on his efforts right now, especially when, if he's a woof whose credentials don't keep up he'll have to answer to the mob at some point and i'm less likely to be around doing it for him, so whatever

I'm feeling a Dels shot.
They're quite a competent townie.
Even if they were out of the loop - like me - they would have some strong stances. They are contributing nothing.
The town is not neccessarily in that good of a spot, and Dels is not stepping up or even showing any recognition of this fact.
If you feel he's town, talk me out of it.

So presumably they have a chance of hitting? And so why would Capri claim the shots. It's quite powerful for wolves to be able to take unclaimed private shots.
