DISCLAIMER ALERT
The beauty of the Mafia Championship is that it brings communities closer together, and it provides an opportunity for players to learn new playstyles, metas and mechanics. And hopefully make new friends as well.
All that being said, the games can also very quickly become overwhelming and frustrating since you probably won't be able to play completely in the same way that you're used to. You don't necessarily need to adapt, but you will probably need to accept that some of the other players will have a different approach to the game than you.
We hope that you will embrace this as part of the experience. It's easy to grow frustrated with people when you don't know them (imagine how you would have felt playing with your friends on your home site if you didn't know any of them when you played your first game together), so a huge part of playing in the Championship is also getting to know the other players in some way.
Specifically, the seasons have taught us that you should be prepared for:
A very high level of activity. On average, there will be 600-700 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game in qualifier games, and likely more in semifinal/finale games. This is a melting pot of dedicated and enthusiastic players all gathered in one game.
You will likely face very different posting styles: Some will post walls of texts with many quotes, some will post a ton of one-liners, and some people will be very keen to interact in real-time in the thread (using the thread as a chat rather than a thread you pop into a few times a day).
A flurry of activity towards the end of the day. This means that if you check out 5 hours before the day ends, you should not be surprised to return the next day to see that the wagons were changed multiple times. If you want your vote to count, be careful to not agree to a game where you can never be around for EOD.
A few players in your game will probably have played with each other before. This has become impossible to prevent as increasingly many players have played on Mafia Universe.
We do not condone abusive remarks and we have banned several communities from participating based on this before, but each season features dozens of new communities, so there is always a slight risk that you might encounter abusive players. If you do, please report them and we'll take care of it.
Past seasons have shown that players get more enjoyment out of the games when they make connections with the other players, so we highly encourage you to join our Discord server either before or after the game.
While Mafia Universe runs on vBulletin, we have many custom-made features that you may not have seen anywhere else. Read this guide to learn about them.

WHAT THE $%#! DOES "WTF" MEAN?
Are you not familiar with some of the terminology used by the other players? Maybe this will help you: TERMINOLOGY EXPLANATIONS.
MAFIA GAME RULES
Rules may vary from community to community, so we highly advise you to carefully read these rules.
Only post/talk about the game in this thread. Don't PM other players, unless you are mafia and wish to talk with your teammates. Also, don't post anything about the game in other threads or on other forums.
Don't try to use the form of your role PM. So a screenshot of your role PM would be cheating.
You are not allowed to change your avatar, location or any other profile info during game in any way that could be construed as hinting at your role.
This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win.
If we believe you to be bending the rules intentionally in a way that clearly goes against the spirit of the rules, game, and/or championship, then that would also be grounds for modkill and potential disqualification.
If you have any questions about rules, send a PM to your host. Avoid asking questions to the host in the thread.
Don't ever refer to private communications with the Game Host.
If you should ever require a replacement, PM Lissa and stop posting in the thread.
No hydra'ing / multi-accounting is allowed. Do not share your account with anyone else.
You are not allowed to reference the post-game voting during the game. I.e. you cannot post "if you lynch me, you're not getting my vote after the game" or anything like that.
Treat your fellow players with respect. Hostility will not be tolerated.
Refer to this post for the complete, standard ruleset for mafia games.
I will repeat this particular rule once more in big letters to make sure you understand:
DO NOT EVER REFERENCE THIS GAME OUTSIDE OF THIS GAME THREAD. YOU SHOULD NOT BE TALKING ABOUT THIS GAME WHATSOEVER ON YOUR HOME SITE. IF PEOPLE ASK YOU QUESTIONS, TELL THEM YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT THE GAME AND LINK THEM TO THIS THREAD.
MINIMUM ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
All players are required to make a minimum of 10 posts per game day.
Activity prods will be conducted based on the phase length of the game as follows:
If a player has made 0 posts by 6 hours into a day, they will be prodded in private.
If a player has made less than 10 posts by 2 hours before EoD, they will be prodded in private. This is in addition to the mid-day prod if the player is a 0-poster.
If a player has made less than 5 posts by 24 hours into a day, they will be prodded in private.
If a player has made less than 10 posts by 2 hours before EoD, they will be prodded in private again.
If a player has made 0 posts by 24 hours into a day, they will be prodded in private.
If a player has made less than 5 posts by 48 hours into a day, they will be prodded in private. This is in addition to the mid-day prod if the player is a 0-poster.
If a player has made less than 10 posts by 6 hours before EoD, they will be prodded in private again. This is in addition to the previous prod(s).
If a player has posted 0 times by EoD on any given day without maj, once night begins they will be subbed out as soon as possible.
If a player makes 1-9 posts during a day without maj, they have the full night to respond to the warning. If they do not respond to the warning in time, they will be subbed out.
If a player makes 1-9 posts a second time on any future day without maj, they will be subbed out.
These rules apply to all players regardless of alignment.
The game hosts and tournament organizers reserve all rights to immediately sub out any player who has not met the minimum requirement, regardless of whether or not the player has met the requirement on previous days. Similarly, if players are only meeting this requirement by spamming and/or posting in the last hour of the day, that and similar circumstances would also be cause for substitution.
SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURE
If your representative needs to sub out during a QUALIFIER (through request, inactivity, or otherwise), your community's backup will take their place, This is assuming 1) you've elected one, 2) they've registered a user on Mafia Universe, and 3) that I'm able to get a hold of them within a reasonable amount of time (i.e. with enough time left in the current phase for the sub to work with).
If I can't get a hold of your backup, I will give the spot to a representative from a community that joined the series late - or failing that, a backup from one of the larger communities.
If your representative needs to sub out during a SEMIFINAL or FINALE game, your community's backup will NOT take their place. Instead the next person who was in line to receive a semifinal or finale spot will take their place.

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: Rollspel.nu, Mafia Universe and I think I played a game on another site, but can't remember which one
COMMUNITY INFO: Swedish roleplaying site with mainly discussions about rpg's (not the rocket kind) and used to have a little side track for mafia games. It's where I was lured into the game and loved every second of it.

Single dad with a bunch of kids (who seem to have fotball practise every day somehow, also I am semi-coaching, not sure when I agreed to it though), career mainly in healthcare including ICU (intensive care unit) so I'm obviously town. Not a doctor though, so don't nightkill me please.
Been working in a closed psychiatric ward last few years so anyone votes me I'll have them locked down, for their own safety of course.
I like to fill my spare time with things I don't have time for, like friends and mafia and such. It works out somehow.
Oh, lately I also have post-covid or something similar which means among other things that my memory is pretty bad, which is perfect for mafia! What could go wrong.

LOCATION : MU CHAMPS HQ AKA ARAPOCALYPSE SECRET KNIFE ROOM OF WOWEES
TIME : 5 MINS BEFORE RAND
LAN MISA, the host of G7 rushes into KNIFE ROOM, looking very distressed.
LAN MISA : Honoured moderators, we need to reschedule the game! Some illegal players have found their way into the player list and we don’t have enough subs!!!
AMY ( THE GRAND HIGH WITC … I MEAN ADMIN) : Is it FLOW again? A current jury member still salty they did not win the last season and want to win again? K-POP stans?
HALLY : OH GOD, is it an army of FOLers?
LAN MISA: No, its worse. Some of the current patients at Mafia Institute for the incurably Insane and Argumentative persons have found themselves into G7!
LISSA: Oh, you mean the DEBATE chat? Yeah, we have been planning on culling them for some time.
LAN MISA: No , I mean the people who has played Champs for more than 2 times and still not been to Finale once. Look, we have AP, who have repped for some random Telegram groups 3 times…
WIML (WHO HAS BEEN SOMEHOW MADE HIS WAY INTO THE ROOM AFTER BRIBING MAKAZE WITH MONEY) : What? Then how can AP finish making Family Tree 3.0 ? She promised me that I will have many grandchildren with Litten …
[ A knife suddenly made its way into WIML’s throat.]
DYACHEI : That was a close shave. I don’t want any more of that Family Tree nonsense ever again. Having AP gone for 2 weeks is a good thing for spec chat. We already have Katze in Spec chat, we dont need his mother as well.
LAN MISA: But what if AP dies before D2?
STAY POSITIVE FRIEND: Oh she wont, AP endgames all her games. If she doesn’t, remind me to buy fill the lottery numbers with her death post’s number. Anyways, which other degenerates are in the game?
LAN MISA: First we have Raja …
LISSA : Wait, he still alive? Geezers, that old fart is still playing?
LAN MISA : Hollowkatt, who has played in ….
LORD QUAS : Move on Lan. Hollowkatt is a nobody, I bet he didnt even made it into AP’s Family Tree 1.0
VANITY (stroking an angry cat): CAN WE STOP TALKING ABOUT THE FAMILY TREE!!!!
[ Suddenly alarm bells start ringing. FATMO WALKS IN, LOOKING LIKE A CONSTIPATED MIDDLE AGED MAN WITH A TOUPEE]
FATMO: GUYS!!! I JUST HEARD THAT BOQUISE FROM THE “ASYLUM OF FORMER MODERATORS” HAS MADE HIS WAY INTO G7! HE SAYS HE IS GOING TO USE TOO MUCH TBH FOR NO GOOD REASON THROUGHOUT THE GAME BECAUSE TBH HE HAS NO IDEA!! THE WHOLE GAMETHREAD WILL VOMIT BLOOD ALL OVER THE PLACE AFTER HIS 10000TH TBH!!
[In the background, the ghost of General Hankerchief cackles]
LISSA: Oh thats no problem. When Thingy was still in charge, he made sure that every moderator has provided some very compromising photos of themselves. The sanity of the gamethread can still be preserved.
DOBBY : But Lissa, European morality standards are different from Americans! Some of us go frolic in the the forest butt naked for fun!
[Wisdom stalks over. He has been sitting on Ephmeral’s lap for the past hour]
WISDOM : Useless! For the sake of preserving the last brain cells of MU and be the last remaining threads of sanity for the less insane players , I will be joining in. After all, you got to be a masochist if you want to be an moderator here.
HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: Mafia Maniac, Mafia Universe, Gamefaqs, PersonalityCafe, tcodf, The Syndicate, FOL, TheOrg, SDN, some irl conventions, and a random British football forum who always yeet me at D1
COMMUNITY INFO: Mafia Maniac is a small-knit community that specifies in Den Mafia. Everyone is a PR in Den Mafia and the focus is on the np being narrative and including night actions in the story.
The community is however on a decline, though we are planning to start playing games on our discord. Not many of us are left, so our ambitious yet casual Den Mafia is impossible to pull off currently. My hope is to revive MM and make it a hub for games that are on the chill scale for busy people. It is a community with long mafia tradition!

some serious stuff tho
Champs has been my bread and butter since 2016. I love the entertainment aspect of it all, and I play to make spec laugh and stuff. This will be my last season. This could then be my last champ game ever! So some stuff about my playstyle:
Sometimes I make quick snap reads out of things you find NAI. Youre not my mom you cant tell me what to do smh
Sometimes I dont get any reads at all for a while...
I am an endgame player!
I tend to solve through what I expect wolves/town to do, and my assumption of a player's psyche.
I regard mafia games like a game of chess.
I also like posting memes and gifs
I write tbh a lot

I’m a 1st year genetics PhD student studying plants by day and podcaster that can’t lie without laughing by night–thank goodness this game isn’t in person! By far my favorite role to play is that of the ~traitor~, which was my first role in my first ever game (which I won)! My favorite story is from my second ever game that I convinced my girlfriend (now fiance!!!!) to play with me, in which I basically gaslit her into a self-vote to execute and lost the game because the vote happened while I was sleeping. Needless to say, my girlfriend (now fiance) has not played mafia with me since because it’s “too stressful.” I haven’t been playing long, but I like to think that what I lack in experience I make up for in enthusiasm, a love for mind games, and psychoanalyzing the internal motives of my fellow players.
To sum myself up as a player: decent detective, excellent team player, and a sly traitor. But if I’m Kingdom (aka Town), you better believe I will give you takes and work with the group to bring the traitors to justice. Down with the liars, Kingdom forever!
Some choice quotes from fellow players in my community:
KazYual: “I’m pretty sure HB is a bad person.”
Amelia: “But HB KNOWS me” votes to execute
Feral: “HB has been playing it safe almost all game. Seems like they’re trying too hard.” Kuma: “I’m starting to think Hells is a T, but they’re too much of a wildcard as they’re new”
Pure: “Make sure you put in there that you always keep people guessing”

Our games take a long time to happen, with a minimum of 24h per phase (maximum can be a LOT more) (for both day and night).
Activity is not a big issue (1 message per phase will often be enough) as often there is somebody active that can take your inch of activity and then make it into a mile.
Another important thing is that due to often our lobbies not having an adequate number of players some of them are bots (controlled by the host). Hopefully that will no longer be necessary when our community grows

I am representing The TvM Hub.
I am from India.
I am a working professional who loves to play TvMs to kill time (and sometimes to kill my brain cells 😅).
In game, I appreciate game related posts cos fluff/off topic posts are just meh... and help wolves to blend in. Though if the topic is one of the animes that I watch..or the pc games that I play... I join the fluff conversations gladly 🤷♂️
Other thing about my gameplay is that I am not a fan of flash wagons and I am not a fan of defending myself. (Well I am lock town everytime..so don't suspect me..ty).
I use emotes in my posts.. Some find it odd..but that can't be helped..sorry 😏
Last year I got chance as a sub, but this time I am a main rep..so..I am looking forward to play with players of different communities and play styles...and I hope to have a nice game or games of TvM.

We’re a Brandon Sanderson fansite.
Sanderson Elimination (SE) is a subforum on the Shard where we’ve been running Mafia games since 2013 - unsurprisingly, our games are primarily Sanderson-themed and while it’s not an expectation from every player, our community enjoys and encourages in-game RP. It’s great to have added flavour to the game!
We're a relatively smaller, tight-knit community, and while we do have a playerbase of diverse playstyles, on the whole we take a comparatively chill approach to games and prioritise making them a fun experience for everyone.
We have 3 main game formats: LGs (48hr/24hr Day/Night phases), MRs (48hr combined phases), QFs (24hr combined phases) that run regularly and the relatively new Break-Tanks (BTs) that run wayyy less regularly and usually last several hours/a couple of days.
We’re always thrilled to have new players so if you’re interested, go have a look at our up-coming game here! Signups currently open (I think lmao).

During my first 10 years we only played with 1 doc 1 cop (+1 vig if 20+ players), but when Maffia Sverige formed there was an anti-investigative revolution (not formed by me, I tell you!) so now everyone hates cops and loves masons (they even started using bus drivers when I’m not there!). Town Doctor (Odd Night or 2-shot)
The Town Doctor (either Odd Night or 2-shot) may use the Protection ability on nights when their role is active, which will protect the target from death for that night. This role cannot self-target, and will not explicitly learn whether or not they successfully protected someone. If 2-shot, then this role is Non-consecutive, meaning it cannot target the same player two nights in a row.
Town Jack of All Trades
The Town Jack of All Trades, also known as Town JOAT, may use each of the following night abilities once throughout the game: Doctor, Roleblock and Motion Detect. This role may not use multiple abilities on the same night.
Doctor will protect the target from death for that night. The Town JOAT cannot self-target with this action, and will not explicitly learn whether or not they successfully protected someone.
Roleblock will prevent the target from using their night action. Players will not be informed that they were roleblocked. See "Roleblock & Jailkeep Mechanics" below for further info.
Motion Detect will detect motion if the target has either visited someone, or has been visited by someone else. All night actions can be detected, including Mafia's factional kill.
Town Even Night Jailkeeper
The Town Even Night Jailkeeper may use the Jailkeeping ability on even numbered nights (night 2, 4, 6, etc), protecting the target from death and prevent the target from using their night action. This role cannot self-target, and will not explicitly learn whether or not they successfully protected someone. Players will not be informed that they were jailkept. See "Roleblock & Jailkeep Mechanics" below for further info.
Town 2-shot Roleblocker
TheTown 2-shot Roleblockermay use the Roleblock ability on two different nights. This will prevent the target from using their night action. This role is Non-consecutive, meaning it cannot target the same player two nights in a row. Players will not be informed that they were roleblocked. See "Roleblock & Jailkeep Mechanics" below for further info.
Town Odd Night Tracker
The Town Odd Night Tracker may use the Tracking ability on odd numbered nights (night 1, 3, 5, etc). This informs them who their target visited on that night, if anyone. The Tracker will not learn what type of night action(s) their target used, only who their target visited.
If a player who is using multiple night actions on different targets is tracked, the player will be seen visiting all of their targets.
If a player using multiple actions on the same target is tracked, they would only be seen visiting the target once.
All night actions can be tracked, including the Mafia's factional kill.
Town Even Night Vanilla Cop
The Town Even Night Vanilla Cop may use the Vanilla Inspection ability on even numbered nights (night 2, 4, 6, etc). This informs them whether or not their target is Vanilla or not, i.e. whether or not they have powers or modifiers. This means that Vanilla Townies and Mafia Goons will appear as "Vanilla", whereas any other roles will appear as "Not Vanilla".
Mafia Role
Description
Mafia Goon
The Mafia Goon, or Vanilla Mafia, is a standard mafia-aligned player with no abilities other than carrying out the factional kill.
Mafia Jack of All Trades
The Mafia Jack of All Trades, also known as Mafia JOAT, may use each of the following night abilities once throughout the game: Role Cop and Roleblock. This role may not use multiple abilities on the same night.
Role Cop will reveal the target's role and any role modifiers.
Roleblock will prevent the target from using their night action. Players will not be informed that they were roleblocked. See "Roleblock & Jailkeep Mechanics" below for further info.
Mafia 1-shot Jailkeeper
The Mafia 1-shot Jailkeeper may use the Jailkeeping ability on one night. This will protect the target from death and prevent the target from using their night action. This role cannot self-target, and will not explicitly learn whether or not they successfully protected someone. Players will not be informed that they were jailkept. See "Roleblock & Jailkeep Mechanics" for further info.
Mafia Roleblocker (may be 1-shot)
The Mafia Roleblocker (may be 1-shot) may use the Roleblock ability each night, which prevents the target from using their night action. This role is Non-consecutive, meaning it cannot target the same player two nights in a row. Players will not be informed that they were roleblocked. See "Roleblock & Jailkeep Mechanics" below for further info.
Mafia 1-shot Tracker
The Mafia Tracker may use the Tracking ability on one night. This informs them who their target visited on that night, if anyone. The Tracker will not learn what type of night action(s) their target used, only who their target visited. All night actions can be tracked.
Mafia 2-shot Watcher
The Mafia 2-shot Watcher may use the Watch ability on two different nights. This informs them who visited their target on that night, if anyone. If multiple people visit the target, the Watcher will receive multiple names. The Watcher will not learn what type of night action was used on their target, only who visited their target. All night actions can be watched.
Players will not be informed that they were roleblocked or jailkept.
If an X-shot role or Jack of All Trades role is roleblocked or jailkept while they are using one of their abilities, they will lose that ability shot forever.
If 2+ of the same blocking roles (e.g. only Roleblockers or only Jailkeepers) target eachother on the same night, they can all be tracked and watched in this scenario, and should one of them also be carrying out the factional kill in this scenario, the factional kill will be prevented. These same rules also apply to longer loops, e.g. A -> B -> C -> A.
If players with Roleblock and Jailkeep abilities target eachother on the same night, roleblock actions will go through whereas the jailkeep actions will not.
If an attempted investigative ability (i.e. Track, Watch, Motion Detect, Role Cop or Vanilla Inspection) has been roleblocked or jailkept, the following feedback will be given: "Your action on Player X failed”. Note that this is different to a negative (e.g. no visit) result.
If a player has been roleblocked or jailkept, then they cannot be seen by Tracker, Watcher or Motion Detector.
Relevant mechanics info
- Day start.
- Majority elimination will not be enabled during day 1 and is not required at any point for the elimination. Starting on Day 2 and until LYLO, majority will be enabled at 12 hours after SoD (in 36/12s and 48/24s) OR at 24 hours after SoD (in 72/24s). LYLOs are an exception to the majority delay, during which majority will be enabled immediately.
- Tied votes will result in a player being eliminated at random from among the tied players.
- No outside communication. I.e. you may not contact the other players outside of the thread (unless you are Mafia and wish to speak with your teammates).
- Phase Lengths and Deadlines will be up to the players themselves (I’ll organize your representative into a game with deadlines that suit their preferences).
- Thread is locked during Night Phases.
- Votes are automatically locked in at LYLO.
- Mafia share a factional Night Kill, which is a single standard shot for their faction. The mafia faction kill is mandatory.
- Mafia may communicate at any time.
- Each individual player may make a maximum of 125 posts per day phase (this restriction is lifted 1 hour before day end).
- The game will have a host to oversee everything and make sure everyone’s following the code of conduct, but otherwise the game is completely automated (automatic votecounts, thread locks and reveals alignments automatically, the bot receives and processes actions, etc.).
All players that participated in this game must vote for who you think is the best all-around mafia player, based on what you've seen from each player in this game (excluding any previous perceptions of each player's skill).
Players, you will receive a voting pm shortly containing the form link and info you need to vote! Let me know if you have not received the voting pm by tonight!
THIS IS NOT AN MVP VOTE, nor is it a vote for the player who had the most positive impact on the game (otherwise the people who died early would rarely be in contention). Instead, you should vote based off who you think displayed the most overall skill as either alignment. This criteria is subject to your own opinions on mafia and the game. If you are looking for examples, here are a few optional points to consider which may help with your decision:
What skills do you consider to be important to have as a good mafia player, for both alignments?
Whose play from this game would you recommend to others as examples of good play?
Are there any players who did not get much time to shine, but you believe still played well?
Which players would you be interested in playing with again, based on their play in this game?
You are giving a RANKED TOP 4.
The names should be ordered from first to last. The first player will receive 5 points, the second player will receive 4 points, the third player will receive 3 points, and the fourth player will receive 2 points. You may not include yourself in your votes.
1st and 2nd place will advance to the Semifinal Games. The rest of the top 4 will also be revealed.
If you don't advance based on votes, there is still hope. 18 players will advance to the Semifinal Games based on qualifier votes, and the remaining 27 players will be selected by the Jury.
Ideally we'd like to reveal votes in about 3 days. If you need a bit more time, this is totally fine, but please let us know!!!
Game 7 hype time, the start of the last third of qualifiers!!! Game 7 players, if you have not confirmed/talked to me about this game within the past few days, please confirm in this thread that you are still alive and ready to play!!!
While you're waiting for the game to rand, please send myself or Lissa a bio if you have not already, preferably by MU PM! If you have already sent one you don't need to worry about this!! We'll need your bio by 9pm EDT on Sunday, June 4th, which is when roles will go out for the game!!! The bio is not mandatory, but it is fun to share a bit about yourself with everyone!!
Please do not post about it here and only talk about it in spec chat only/in private going forward, and if you're a player and have any questions about the game, please contact @Lissa about it!!
Also heads up to subs that you can still put down a night 1 mafia team guess if you like, just dm me with your guess!!!!

I have loved playing mafia/werewolves since being introduced to it 10 years ago. I really enjoy trying to figure out everyone's roles and I like to think that I've become pretty good at it. I'm also pretty crafty when I'm a wolf, one of my favorite games was when I got scanned by the seer and it was announced in the game thread that I was a wolf and I managed to convince the town to lynch the seer instead. They didn't lynch me the following day either. That was a lot of fun. I'm not very comfortable talking about myself so I'll post a few quotes by others that I have played with in the past: Tuga Nation's Dragon - For me, the best player and the one who is more difficult to 'read' is Aersoldorf... He alone can win a game...; Controlitia - I haven't played in a while but this is definitely true. Aerso's always one to keep an eye on unless you know for sure he's on your side. ; Palman - He kills the veterans and then when everyone is silent and unsure of what to do he says things like "we should kill pengu because water is wet" and for some reason everyone just nods their head and vote to kill whomever he likes.

I’m Apocryphal Thaumaturge, also known as Apo or ApoThau, and I'm a gremlin with a penchant for not shutting up while also have absolutely nothing of value to say. I like to take stupid risks in games even if they're liable to $%#! me up, but damn are they sweet when they succeed. I can't be trusted as a vigilante or with a gun because I can and will make a wtf shot based around my own thoughts and concepts behind what is going on in the game; despite this, or rather if it wasn't obvious, vigilante is my favorite non-third party role. Outside of mafia, my main interests lie within Homestuck, Bloodborne, FFXIV (And Final Fantasy games in general), and Warhammer 40k.

We’re a super swag discord server community who do mostly text based maf through mafia.gg, but occasionally do VC maf as well. The community was kickstarted by the twitch streamer 5up doing on stream mafia games with his subscribers in early March of 2022, and out of those 5 or so stream games an active mafia group grew that has played throughout the past year—sometimes degening full dusk to dawn mafia sessions. A few people on the server had previous experience with ToS/forum mafia/daily mafia, but the majority are newbies who have only been playing since March of 2022. We welcome people of every skill level who are down to have fun and lie a lil, and we run games with people from every skill level. There’s no schedule, but people will drop links in the server and anyone who wants to joins in. https://discord.com/invite/5up (grab the mafia role to see that channel and get pings for active games)
BIO:
I let my community decide what I should do for the bio so I can only apologize for this:
Okay now that that’s over with: I’ve never played a single forum mafia game in my life but I’ll do my diddly darnedest frfr. A few lil play style notes: I’d rather be vanilla town over scum sided any day of the $%#!ing week but that doesn’t mean I don’t clutch up in either role. I tend to play pretty pushy town, and don’t stray away from D1 scum and town reads. IMO vibechecks and intuition can create even better town play than good mechanics or knowing how to talk. I love fakeclaiming PR as town and I love using roles that flip dishonestly to hard $%#! around.
My biiigest weakness is that I build really quick reads on people’s playstyles, which means I tend to rely a bit too much on play style meta once I know the group I’m playing with. But!! No moments are more exciting in game then when a person can boost their game enough to slough off the meta shackles and be less inherently readable! I’m a pretty straightforward player (not super into memeing/rp) but I’m down to $%#! around when the moment is right.

My first experience with mafia was a simplified variant played in person with my Scout Troop. Jumped into forum mafia in 2016 and have been playing on and off since.
I feel like I enjoy the mafia alignment more because of the teamwork it allows for, as well as removing the risk of a frustrating early misguided push on me.
I feel like my strengths vary wildly depending on alignment. As town I feel like my best solving comes when I can give a cool, considered take on the game. As scum, I do well at getting down in the weeds and making a mess so town’s job is harder. I do actively try to prevent any long-form observable habits in my play as one alignment but not the other from forming though.
The main draw of the game for me has been the chance to immerse myself in a community of people and potentially find new friends through the game. I have had limited success in forming friendships that last this way but the few that have stuck around I treasure greatly.

This song is just perfect to set the mood for playing mafia ^^
I thought that Mafia is a words war, making the blood boil and the head explode, and giving addiction, frustration and a strange desire to want more of it. That made me play in an aggresive manner who made someone compare me with a pittbull.
I changed my play since then, and from a battlefield the game looks for me now like a beautiful place where I find friends, enjoying their presence, ideas and skills. Mafia is, more than anything, a game, where everyone deserves to have fun!!!!!

I'm honored and excited to represent my old site as they truly mean so much to me as a community and helped me come back into one of my favorites hobbies when I really needed it so this performance is for them and I truly wish everyone the bestest of luck in the tournament! ❤️

BIO:
I’ve played mafia for about 3 years now on and off with a lot of my time being spent on shorter games spanning from 1 minutes to about 10 minutes but recently within the last 2 years I’ve gotten really into longer 48+ hour games
I’ve played in several smaller communities but the majority of my games come from my homesite of Mafia Mystery with a few MU games scattered in
I enjoy playing games with around 13-17 players and often with very few roles other than Vanilla Town/ Mafia Goon. With that being said my favorite role is Vanilla Town because of the freedom I guess it gives one to play with compared to other roles
I’m really excited to get this opportunity and thank you to my community for sending me to play this year!!

I begged them not to send him and take no responsibility for what those playing with him will soon endure. If nothing else, I can say the field of psychiatry has come a long way and perhaps through years of intensive therapy and prescription medication a few of you can be made back to at least somewhat resemble who you were before the “game” began.

Is this really the place to play a game. I always felt this was a forum to answer questions and discuss issues pertaining to the professional school applicant and/or recent graduate. I look at the other professions and see questions and concerns about their respective chosen profession. I look at the veterinary section and see I game playing. At the very least, this just doesn't look professional. I see children here who are not serious about their schooling. Online gaming is fine, but not here.

Town Role
Description
Vanilla Town
The Vanilla Townie has no special powers or night actions. Their only power is their vote and voice during discussions.
Game 6 hype let's go!!!!!! Game 6 players, if you have not confirmed/talked to me about this game within the past few days, please confirm in this thread that you are still alive and ready to play!!!
While you're waiting for the game to rand, please send myself or Lissa a bio if you have not already, preferably by MU PM! If you have already sent one you don't need to worry about this!! We'll need your bio by 9pm EDT on Sunday, May 28th, which is when roles will go out for the game!!! The bio is not mandatory, but it is fun to share a bit about yourself with everyone!!
Heads up that with game 3 having ended, you're now officially in the pool of overall qualifier backups!!! That means that in other qualifiers, if a rep needs to sub out and doesn't have a community backup available then you'll be contacted to see if you're available to fill in, giving your community a second shot at champs!!
Any sub slots opening up are first come first serve positions, where you will be contacted through MU pm so you do need an MU account for the possibility of playing! If your backup does not have an MU account, you're welcome to get them to make an account so that they can be added to the pool of qualifier backups - just give me a heads up if/when they make one!!
You also need to stay out of the MU spec chat to be eligible to sub in, as a heads up!!!

Socially Deduce This is a social deduction community oriented towards creative iterations on the base Werewolf/Mafia formula, incorporating lots of other board-game and strategy mechanics. We have a large community of designers that are constantly churning out new, experimental ideas. We’ve had strategy-heavy games based on things like Lord of the Rings where players traveled across Middle Earth, toppling enemy controlled strongholds and ferrying The One Ring to Mount Doom, avoiding Orcs and Nazguls along the way. We’ve had politics-heavy games based on Red Dead Redemption and Star Wars, where making deals and compromising were critical to leveraging your position and power to victory. We’ve had really complex board-game infused social deduction games based on things like Root. We’ve had games based thematically and mechanically on The Cold War, Ancient Rome, Sid Meier’s Civilization, Borderlands, The Sopranos, Harry Potter, Dishonored, and so much more.
Games are played asynchronously over discord in text-based format. Generally games last 5-7 full day/night cycles, and most cycles last about 48 hours, so games in total run for 2-3 weeks from start to finish. Most games have some kind of voting mechanic, and actions to use during either the day and/or night phase depending on your role. Some games are set up with an uninformed majority against an informed minority, but some setups are more team-based or might have multiple uninformed factions fighting for dominance. The balance isn’t always perfect, but we all have a lot of fun, try to give constructive feedback, and bounce ideas off of each other so that our next experiment will be better or crazier than the last.
If you’re a player or a designer and that kind of experience speaks to you, we’re always happy to see new faces over on our discord server, so feel free to stop in and spectate, play, or design some games! https://discord.gg/ta4xwX3puK

Things I like to do:
- find loopholes in the rules and find weird ways to use them to my team's advantage
- lie in wait until major events (such as scum flips) happen and then go off on analysis
- win
Things I don't do:
- overanalyze on early days, especially when no major breakthroughs have been made
- give any credence to appeals to emotion
- give up, even when faced with heavy odds against

I have played over 70 games on Mangahelpers, won as both mafia and townie. Hosted four games and have had probably two dozen unique roles that I played during those times. Repping Mangahelpers for the fourth time. We never managed to get past round one so hopefully that changes this year. Mangahelpers forum almost never uses regular vanilla townie roles, nearly everyone has a unique role in our games and games usually revolve around figuring out interactions between roles or using them to influence the game, hopefully that comes in handy for this setup.

Still relatively new to playing Mafia but highlight so far was convincing a mod-confirmed town player to lynch himself in one particular game as mafia. I really enjoy the manipulation and planning when playing as scum but fake claims still a weakness in my game.
COMMUNITY INFO:
Mafiacorner is a Polish mafia community, probably the biggest one gathering forum mafia players. Pointing out things that are characteristic for us and different to what's played on MU is that we play all games anonymously, using fun fake identities, like fictional characters, celebrities, objects or even memes, whatever you like. It's set up this way to let the best players play a bit more - we started as a small community where everyone knows everyone, so the meta game had to be limited in some way We do not rely on power roles that much - sometimes set ups with lots of fun roles are played but it's just for the sake of switching it up; the games without any PRs or with a small number of them are usually preferred. Also we play with no night phase, so you can search for wolves all day, all night.
Recently we decided to try and expand the player base so the game schedule is more regular, we also organize games exclusively for new players - the next one starts on Monday 24th of April. If anyone speaks Polish and would like to try that at some point in time, you're welcome to join us. We also have a Discord channel - if you wanna know more, feel free to come by and say hi! - https://discord.gg/Re35MfC8Vs
BIO:
Hi, I'm kshaq, played one game on MU so far and got murdered, yay! I tend to be quite aggressive at the beginning of the game, so don't lynch me for that, pretty please.
I like mafia because I like arguing with people as a sport. I can tell you that you suck during the game but will flood you with friendliness after it's finished - no need to take me personally! I love and respect you all. Won't tell anything about the real flaws of my game so you can't use it later against me tho.
Let's win some games, fellow townies! (Because I'm innocent, obviously.)

Since 2016 I've actively played social deduction games in one form or another and have been a top 5ish player in all of town of salem, secret hitler, and avalon. BIO:
While I’m still highlighted as a video mafia player and recognised as such by regulars on this site I’m actually one of this sites top posters, though a majority of those posts were probably made in my first few years. As I get closer to 30 and video mafia games starting at 2am my time it made more sense to make forum mafia my main outlet for arguing with strangers. I'm still an ex-video All Star (top 30 player) and moderator in my video community.
I may be past my time in being the game’s highest poster, I believe I have a strong ability to read players playing this game despite not constantly annoying you with every thought in my head.
I won an award last year for the meme of me constantly rolling mafia, in about 2 years I played 15+ mashes (40+) players and I think I rolled town once, but don’t worry, I’m town this game.

Town Role
Description
Vanilla Town
The Vanilla Townie has no special powers or night actions. Their only power is their vote and voice during discussions.
Let me know if you have not received the voting pm within 10-15 minutes or so!
Heads up that since this is a 36/12 and will be starting earlier, I'll also be randing the game earlier; game rand will be at 3pm EST on Sunday instead, which is about 19.5 hours from the time of this post and also 12 hours before SoD 1!!!
That means 3pm EST Sunday is also your deadline for submitting a bio, or letting me know your pre-game 3/3 night 1 mafia team guess!!

On night 3, Destinylives should have tracked onjit to Radar, but unfortunately there was a Modbot error where Destinylives received the result that onjit went nowhere, and the real result had to be delivered manually to Destinylives about 6 hours after SoD 4; thanks for handling that result smoothly, Destinylives!
The error has since been fixed, thanks to Makaze!!
It's game 5 hype time!!!! Game 5 players, if you have not confirmed/talked to me about this game within the past few days, please confirm in this thread that you are still alive and ready to play!!!
While you're waiting for the game to rand, please send myself or Lissa a bio if you have not already, preferably by MU PM! If you have already sent one you don't need to worry about this!! We'll need your bio by 9pm EDT on Sunday, May 21st, which is when roles will go out for the game!!! The bio is not mandatory, but it is fun to share a bit about yourself with everyone!!

Hello, Migraine here! I'm not sure how I should format this, so I'll just jot some points down.
- I game. Some notable ones for me include Crosscode (Favourite of all time), Town of Salem (duh), Terraria, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, FTL, Frostpunk, and West of Loathing.
- I also dabble in digital art (pixel art especially) and coding (Python mainly).
- To say I have a sleep schedule would be a gross misuse of the word “schedule”.
- Sometimes it worries me how much game-related info I've committed to memory.
- I have no other character traits.

/r/hiddenwerewolves is one of the only active reddit mafia communities and has been since 2016. We play mostly larger role madness games, with signups going up at the end of every month. It's a bit of a different vibe than forums, but the structure is close enough that it's not too bad to get used to. Threads make everything so much nicer to follow.

Hi, I’m Chef. I’m from a rock in the north atlantic with a weird-$%#! timezone and no people. My homesite is allergic to wolf reading me, so I don’t fully know what my wolf tells are. My claim to fame on my homesite is my sleuthing. I’m usually good at finding wolves there, but that often relies on site playstyle and a little meta and I have neither of those here so we’ll see how this goes.

I sometimes come off as wishy-washy/equivocating or like I'm not really "going anywhere" to certain types of players who haven't seen me play much before, especially early in games.
STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): When I first played mafia, I was so clueless that I thought that "scum" was an insult. As a result, I OMGUSed everyone who called me that... and it really was everybody. Needless to say, I was swiftly yeeted. My game was so brief that I can't remember when it happened!!! Since then, I have learned that OMGUSing everyone in the game probably isn't a good idea!!!

Um. I mean I was born in a log cabin and was very, very young. I was raised by wolves before I knew that the wolves were bad guys in a mafia game. To this day, I still howl at the moon in gleeful anticipation of finding starfish in the incoming tide.
Oh, wait, parts of my bio are fictitious. Well, that's probably why my favorite mafia activity is to write flavor. Creating fiction comes easily to me. It sort of flows out of me. Some people would say that my insistence that "I am town" is part of the fiction. But, no, I am town. I am always town. Sometimes, I'm part of the New and Improved Town that's seeking to replaced the tired-out old town. But I digress. Frequently.
Anyway, this is my first champs game, and I am excited to play in this game!!!!

While I'm fairly new to Fourm Mafia (started in 2018) I've been playing various Social Deduction games for years, from Town of Salem to Project Winter to even some Epic Mafia. My Main communities have been Blood on the Clocktower, Where I was an active member for 2+ years, Dangan Werewolf which I'm representing here and have been in for a few years aswell, and recently I've been playing on FoL. I've been on a horrendous loss streak recently so here's hoping to turn that around! I hope I'll enjoy playing with all of you

Here at Beat Arcade our discord server isn't only focused around mafia, mafia is like a concubine in a reincarnation manhwa.
Our members will each host their own game using roles stolen from other places and their own roles, usually these games start off with a night, and have 24h night:24h day deadlines. They are always the most amazingly balanced games you'll ever see!! (Its not, but its amazing whenever we see the ones we've predicted to lose actually win).
The only archive we have in existence is our wiki and our underground server which hosts any role and dead chats, so future players won't know how $%#! you do!!! In our server we use a leaderboard system and the winner always tbags over all the losers dead bodies. And then on weekdays we gather around the campfire and worship the gods of communism.

HELLO EVERYONE IM THE PRETTIEST GIRL YOU'LL EVER MEET!
MY PLAYSTYLE IS JUST A BIG "$%#! YOU" TO EVERYONE!
i enjoy playing how i want so oftentimes i wont confine myself to following what a townblock wants... that also ends up with me insulting people when they don't agree with me! ("clown" is my signature phrase xx) i like to not try to convince people on anything no matter how strongly i believe in it because of my fear of failure!@! i'm not very good at handling pressure as either alignment, but scum its especially hard for me to play. If given enough chance to get off my feet though, i could be a pretty strong scum player... i think..?
i don't really have much hardcore hobbies, i do a bit of everything. i play in discord orgs fairly frequently (recently i've just been afking out, but when i don't you best believe i'm a social goddess! this lack of brain really shines!!) i write and i play games like valorant and demonologist. i have an obsession with cats, esp black cats since i have one!!
and i don't mean to brag but... one time i won mayor in a minecraft smp! get $%#!ed nerds you'll all lose to me!

I'm a pretty cool player when it comes to social deductions. If I want, I can pinpoint things fast in games. I won the Mafia Championship by double the points in the server. I also believe I win more than I lose. I have the power of the 🍪s with me, hopefully that's enough to win. My favorite role to play is sus'd Mafia because than I have no limitations and I can say what I want to and act how I want to. The game is in the hands of how I play. Some strengths I have is social reads are pretty on point. Some weaknesses I have is convincing Town to vote with me. My approach to this game is to play as much as I can and have fun. ❤️ The jokes are for when I start playing.

MTGS isn't that sophisticated of a site, it's home to a lot of very strategic players. People that I sincerely consider to be absolutely amazing at mafia. It's the 2nd place I ever played Mafia before I started really branching out and it's a place I consider my 2nd Mafia home. The site itself is notorious for having day phases that last 2 weeks and night phases that last between 2-5 days. So if you can't get past that you probably wouldn't wanna play there, but it's where I met Proph/Tomsloger/Vaimes ( I love Vaimes)/Silvercrys/Osieorb.
