OH MY GOD. I would have transcribed a bunch of my other exclamations in response to this but then you all would never get any sensible words. So let's try this: I sought the album that this is from immediately and bought it on vinyl. Pure magic, like the nectar of the gods in musical form. The spoken word is enchanting, the percussion and strings and other instrumentation all are nothing short of breathtaking. The build is... what the $%#! is that build, how is it so good? It feels like every single note is meticulously placed by some grand master. This reaches me on a level emotionally that I could have never anticipated going into this walrus. Somehow it's *exactly* what I never knew I needed to hear and lie to garbage to. I'd be lying to myself and all of you and most importantly the submitter if I didn't give this song the broken walrus scoring bonus. Beyond perfect.

This song has a very distinct picture it creates for me so I'm going to try to paint it for you. You're at a music festival on a weekend night, it's 2am and you're still rather buzzed but not quite drunk. This year has been $%#!ty but it could be worse. You lie down on the grass and you listen to the band play this, the penultimate song. They get into this groove and you just... reflect on your life, take in the atmosphere, it's hard to hear anything over the music but you take in a cricket chirping once or twice, maybe you can make out a star or two in the sky above but you're not removed enough from the city for that. At some point 5, 10, 20 minutes have passed. You let out a good cry, but no one notices. There's nothing but you and the music. Then it ends. You don't want to forget this night for as long as you can, but you know it'll fade with time. Somehow that's okay.

Understated rhythmic hypnotic combo, cool. The synths and production are delectable. This rides the line between synthpop and house wonderfully. I don't know why this works as well as it does a song to lie down to, but it does, perhaps it's just arpeggios. Something something introspection.

Pleasantly surprised at how this approaches drone (and that alone helps it reach a certain enjoyment threshold), it's nice and grainy. There isn't much for me to hold onto or take away from the experience, it lacks a bit of impact. Despite that, there is nonetheless a real mood here that facilitates the hypnotic state.

If you ever wanted to know what the intersection of Kraftwerk, generic 1980s singing, a bit of David Bowie, and some Roxy Music would sound like, then look no further. I see where this sub is coming from, but it needs to lean more into its sense of atmosphere than being a dramatic synthpop song for it to work even better for the catfit.

omg someone other than Moose Moosed this lol. Seriously this made me laugh pretty good. I thought maybe it's actually rather easy for me to sit through and not engage with considering how long this is but uh... then enough time passes and I'm like yeah, I don't actually want to sit through this. Quality meme sub though. Thank you for making me hesitate for a good 20 seconds about whether I give this an unfamiliarity bonus.

This was not meant for me. Amateurishly grating, unfortunately. I just have such a hard time sitting through this, which is obviously the opposite of what I wanted here. It sounds like bedroom VGM fanfic music, and I don't mean that with any connotation, it's just something I am clearly not the target audience for. I wish I had something else to say, sorry.

    10. Hypnotic

This submission should entrance me literally. I want the song to conclude and then for me to snap out of that trance and be like, "huh, I have no clue how long that was" right before I inevitably look at how long it was.

In stark contrast to Rhythmic, I'm looking for something to utterly zone out to. If movement happens, great, but I don't want to be thinking about it. Nothing exists but the song and my body. For any of you who have played Undertale,
I'm looking for something that makes me want to lie down and feel like garbage as when Napstablook shares that moment with the player in-game.

I'm tentatively planning on about 2 hours of reveal for Part 1, so that means Part 2 will start around 3:45PM PT / 6:45PM ET / 11:45PM GMT.

This should be set in stone unless there's another walrus somewhere I'm unaware of so someone feel free to let me know on that ASAP, otherwise this'll be it. I'm so excited, can't wait to lie down and feel like hypnotized garbage with you all!

Reminder that Category 10 (Hypnotic) reveal is on Sunday at 1pm Pacific / 4pm Eastern, less than 48 hours now!

As for Categories 11-13 (D&D: Good, Neutral, and Evil), I am going to be revealing them Shadrus style every other day. The current plan is to do so on Su. 1/16, Tu. 1/18, and Th. 1/20 starting in the mid-afternoon Pacific time. As long as I feel I can still meet that by the time we reveal on Sunday and I don't hear it being problematic in terms of clashing with other reveals or events, we will proceed with that timeline.

Thanks again everyone for the patience and participation, it's been so much fun to reveal again.

My ambitious goal is to finish this entire walrus within a month or so (I'm on semester break). We'll see. I bet I can at least get through Hypnotic and probably Good and Neutral.

To anyone who hasn't subbed to 11-13 (Good through Evil) or otherwise wants to sub or swap any subs to any remaining categories, please feel free and just let me know! I'll also take any swaps or subs for Hypnotic but not for a ton longer.

I'm crossing my fingers for a week or so until Hypnotic, might be just a bit longer. I should know pretty soon. See you all again next time!

omg... where did you find this? That percussion is so soothing, the pulsing synths so engaging. I'm in a dance trance. I don't know how to describe how much I love this and how much I am in awe I have not heard it before. This sounds *exactly* like the year 1994 in the best possible way (perhaps my favorite musical year ever): Autechre just released Amber, Global Communication 76:14, Higher Intelligence Agency was still a thing, etc., and yet it still stands out. Mindblowingly outstanding. Instant tangycore.

Delightfully dated proto-house, if someone asked me to show them something that was undeniably from the 1980s I may just have to throw them this. So much rhythm... This is way better than it has business being for what it is, so much fun. You're playing with so much fire here, wow, this tiptoes the get up and dance big fail so delicately on multiple occasions but it somehow never crosses it. I almost use up so much energy I end up just tapping my toe occasionally as well. It's hard to figure out an exacting catfit for those reasons. Nonetheless, how could someone not groove to this?
