Wow. On paper I should really, really hate this. I kinda don't? Like maybe I was just in the right mood when I listened but $#@! it. This guy is just endearingly into it and I'm down for that. I can't give this a super high score and feel good about myself but I like it quite a bit compared to how dumb it is.

It's like. Okay, I guess the *lyrics* fit the cat, but who gives a $#@! about that? So it's not reallly a cat fit. Except that somehow this guy singing is making it work. I absolutely can't defend this but I kind of love it.

Hm. The guitar definitely sounds bluesy in kind of downtrodden way. It's missing that gritty/industrial edge. Even when it starts going hard it's pretty clean. As it gets into the middle section I'm getting into it. It's sort of gritty in a peusdo-punk way.

    First listen: 6.5

    Multiple listens: 7.0

Still not quite sure what to do with this one. It doesn't really fit the mental map I had of "gritty/industrial" but it's pretty close in its own way. It's got a lot of anthem rock in it. I find myself nodding along with it. Yeah you know what I guess I like this.

Yeah that's definitely getting the cat. That instrumental backing sounds ominous and gritty, like it's being played by banging metal rods around an industrial park. I'm kinda half and half on the vocals. There are parts that I love, like that descending stepdown minor chord bit. Overall there's not wowing me.

Vibe of the song is just right though.

    Weyes Blood

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OrVUk61wHE

I was really skeptical of this based on the first 10 seconds, but it won me over pretty hard. It's delicate and sweet and just the right kind of warm. You think it's gonna be light piano / very minimal, but then those drums and orchestral stuff comes in and it just kinda floats away. You can just close your eyes and ride this one out. Special shoutout to the vocalist here, who's got one of those classically controlled voices that can just get extremely expansive but still feel 100% in control. It's not what I'd want to listen to all the time but sometimes it's just right.

There's also just a slight undertone of dissonance - there are some weird instruments / melodies underneath the main bit and they keep this from feeling one-note. This is like, hm, a romantic epic dance underneath the ocean.

FWIW I was kind of surprised at how little of an edge I ended up having. First 2-3 rounds, sure, but some of those herbs/items were *really* good, and by round 6ish I didn't really have an edge against anyone who'd gotten moderately lucky with searches.

My plan was to try to snipe a town objective and then spin a story about how we needed to sidequest to one of the gigantes to achieve it with an alternate route. "Oh no the control device is missing, but this note I found said we have to kill a gigante to get a second one." And then hopefully waste a bunch of people along with the gigante itself by turning against them a few rounds into the battle.

Dunno if it would have been super good odds, but it felt like my best chance to score a bunch of points at once, and it's not like I needed to survive or escape to win.

Thanks for all the work, pizza. Definitely had fun. I was like, 2, maybe 3 turns away from that glorious 4-5 town death round.

If this is a Moose sub I award you with an honorary 10 for deliberately tanking the Moose category.

Surely that is what transpired here.

My heart wants to believe it.

    But 1 just in case.
    swap these and we're good
The idea of a guy getting on VC during an Overwatch game and doing an impassioned Ed Sheeran cover where he talks about succing toes is $#@!ing A+ material and no one can convince me otherwise.

    Thoughts?
Are we starting with commentary already?

Because honestly this is the most tedious part of the game. Between running around the citadel, the elevators, and the fact that you have to visit a ton of spread out parts of the station what feels like 3-4 times each, it's just... a real drag. The sweet spot for playing it I'd say is your 2nd time through. The first time you play, it's confusing getting around. The second time, you ~mostly know where everything is and can appreciate the aesthetics of the station and concentrate on the story/dialogue. 3rd+ though, it's rough. You pretty much have to do it the exact same way, every time.

Kinda feels like the beginning dungeon of Baldur's Gate II in that respect.
