This looks like an interesting team, but realistically I don't see you progress beyond quarters.

On the other hand this IS a game, so good luck!

This reminds me of a book I used to have, called "And Then Some Other Stuff Happened" or something like that. It's a collection of 5th/6th grade history essays that are particularly bad that a teacher saved over the years. This reminds me of one where the student wrote something about the World Wars where "The United States got pissed off and leveled up into USA-2". Like, it's all the better because these kids were being completely serious and submitting some of this stuff as their best work for a grade.

    Sounds great.

Congrats on beating Italy, although Italy does have that historical tendency to suddenly start playing like ass sometimes. Especially after winning titles.

Nonetheless, this tournament should help your player's progress immensely, no matter whether they are going to win or end up in fourth place.

So come up with better nominations; it's not too late!!!

Edit: Another thing: perhaps it wasn't emphasized as much, but a large portion of the nomination was due to GH's gameplay itself as well; there's a reason why I didn't nominate Newcomb/Voxx for their reads!!

Like sure, one can have good reads; rallying the town together in a productive manner to advance town wincon while on the brink of defeat is an entirely different matter, which was executed in a manner that was well done!
Well, the way the role was handed (unlynchable, for example, and coming from the fairies) made him extremely obviously town... And a desperate town naturally clings to a mechanical town leader persona.

I mean, Ara, you can nominate who you want and I won't steer people away from voting him if he wins, but a) it was not only his performance - it was also that of Voxx and Newcomb in the shadows and thus not a SOLO performance - and b) this wasn't really a sub... but rather a strange role. For the same reason I'd not put it into best use of a role either since... the main thing here is not how he used the mechanical properties of the role (heck, he didn't even HAVE the role), but how he used his regular Mafia skills (and those of Newcomb and Voxx...) to get us to follow him.

...I mean, you could stretch it and call it the best Neutral performance since he was technically playing from D1 as the Spirits who were, on paper, a neutral entity of the game, but even then... I feel like others *cough* deserve that nomination more.

GH had been quietly formulating reads in the secret spirit chat with the other spirits, and at SoD 4, busts out taking the form of Generous Genie, ready to take on the mafia!! I come to you now, at the turn of the tide.

I'm one of the spirits that has been in communication with Stupendous Student, among others. I'm here for this dayphase, that's it. Once the D4 lynch happens, I go back to the spirit realm and the orignal Generous Genie gets his slot back. So you have me for the day only.

    hi

did you actually intend to vote puzzleman puzzlebro

i need to note this for absolutely zero reason
We have lots of these kinds of posts from Fairy on D1. There's not many posts in total but enough to establish a precense and a general "woe is me, I'm coming in from the cold from not having played ww in a while", which, fine, sure, but the problem is that it's nearly 100% substituted for actual townplay.

Bolding is mine. There are lots of these little qualifiers at the end of Fairy's posts, and regardless of whether or not Fairy's stated mindstate is actually true (and I believe it is), these little qualifiers are just wolfy in a vacuum. They don't add anything to the posts, they're just kind of there in that wolfy way that wolves do to try to imitate villagery thought. It sticks out though, it's not actually villagery thought, it's a mannequin of villagery thought put on display at the front of the store to show off the clothing, but the problem is that the person who set the mannequin up is working minimum wage and had to close last night before being called in this morning to open and clearly hates their job. That metaphor got away from me. You know what I mean.

any reason why you thought the wagon grew fast? like was there a particular wolf wagon at the time that you thought the noxious nurse wagon velocity was trying to protect

man this is so weird i really have forgotten how to play mafia

There's just a bunch of questions and level 1 thoughts that don't go anywhere.

The bottom line is that Fairy doesn't care. Their IRL situation being whatever it is, they probably wouldn't care anyway, but there's a villagery not caring and then there's a wolfy not caring, and this is the latter. Fairy's doing enough to skate by, but there's no spark at all, and honestly I kind of just want to put them out of their misery.

Finally, solve around Fairy. Fairy's kind of been in that Goldilocks zone, a good part of which due to our (the spirits') pushing that slot, but there's never been sustained momentum to kill it off. The wagon has always stalled around 3rd or so from the top (I know that there was a brief period last EOD where Fairy was in second, but wagons were something like 6-3 and quickly shifted, so I'm ignoring it). Think of this exact gamestate, think of what it's been, think back to your past games and how wolves have clamped down on potential mid/lategame rallies when they've had the advantage and see how they've protected their own. This fits that archetype to a T. They are not letting Fairy go down, point blank.

    ---

    This brings me to Mummy.

Mummy has a lot of posts. That's a point in Mummy's favor for sure. But the content within is not nearly as good.

Take a skim of Mummy's iso (I know, it's long, I'm sorry). You don't need to read anything in-depth. Just try to get a feel for Mummy's take on the game. Try to immerse yourself in Mummy's head and follow their thoughts. Consult your inner soul as to whether Mummy is truly a villager in an increasingly cloudy situation or whether or not Mummy's just posting to post and kind of motoring along.

Not convinced? Need actual evidence? Let's see how they treat Fairy.

Here's D3, prior to ITA1. Shots lists are going around. Mummy was on Banana and eventually domed him, yes, credit to Mummy for that, but Banana was a dead man walking with kind of a crap role. Easily bussable for #cred. Meanwhile, compare to how Mummy reacts when Fairy is brought up:

i don't get the point you're making on the "i'm allergic to something in soldier's iso" thing. voting and ita'ing a bunch of villagers is wolfy on the surface but it like... means basically nothing. why is fairy voting and ita'ing a bunch of villagers wolfy?

And later deflected further attention on Fairy by calling Student villagery but not trusting the spirits or our reads. Fair, but like. Come on.

This is a wolf doing everything in their power to keep a wolfbro alive. It just is. There's deflection onto Pharaoh, a villager whose iso was somewhat wolfy but even more bare than Fairy's, Ringmaster, someone still alive but who I'd bet flips town, and other previously unmentioned targets. Not once has Mummy given an independent read on Fairy with any teeth whatsoever. The sum of it has been "meh kind of a weak iso but idk" and then lots of deflection.

    ---

Finally, Ghost. I'm spending less time on this because I'm less confident in this wolfread than I am the other two and also already have had to write multiple sections of this post up more than once, but a good chunk of Ghost's haikus are simply him announcing what he intends to do with very little followup or villagery thought. Especially early on. It's a close cousin to the classic wolf "calls his shots instead of just shooting them" read and I don't buy it.

    ---

CONCLUSION: I think Fairy is a strong wolf role who is actively being protected. Fairy today, Mummy tomorrow. Ghost probably wolfing but reevaluate if necessary once we get there.

    ##Vote Fanciful Fairy

Sorry for the wall. Not really though.

Drunk Dragon I kind of liked on D2 but low content and haven't followed up, probably should put in null.
Posh Pirate, not sure, leaning town on balance + a couple of other things despite reads/stances today.
    Clown seems legit.

#Sprits guidance in the middle categories if you could.
As much as his sub hurt we successfully steered town towards the kill that helped us most and they lost in the night phase. His presence ultimately didn't change the outcome of the game, so I'm not sure if this is a good nomination.

Especially considering that he wasn't a "clean sub" and coming in with reads from Newcomb and Voxx. He was more of an uninformed spectator subbing in.

    Disagree.

Lying about r/l issues to cover for a subpar performance is extremely poor gamesmanship IMHO.
Mafia is a game about lying. Players should not talk about IRL issues, though, that's true.
    It's about sportsmanship.

Lying about the game is expected because it's *part of the game*. Lying about r/l to gain an advantage is in extremely poor taste because such lies cannot be caught out on and preys upon the other players' sense of decency.

If lying about r/l issues becomes an acceptable strategy, you'll be hard pressed to find a game where somebody isn't undergoing some catastrophe and it will make the atmosphere of the entire site SUCK because jthere will be no room for understanding legitimate issues because of all the douchebags crying wolf.
I never lie about IRL issues. It's a poor excuse if you are a wolf and you'll never improve if you do and if people catch on to you they'll never believe you ever again if you are actually a villager.

No such thing as a double traitor in survivor, just those who know they're next on the chopping block after the opposing alliance depletes
Well, the alliance technically succeed in what it planned to do.

Now if we could form a new one to kill the Frog it would be great.
