    Just asking if you could.

Cue's posting style amuses me for now, but giving the history of the people I've played with before of this particular subset, tolerance of unusual posting styles will diminish as the game progresses.

I like hearing people commit early to this sort of thing. I look forward to having what you consider a lot of the kind of material at my disposal to read you properly with. Thank you for sharing that this is something you consider yourself to be focused hard on doing as town.

Sure, but I asked you to explain the usefulness of the move, not how it warms your heart to have done so.
    Ah. No, it isn't useful.

Well, technically speaking, being polite creates a relaxed atmosphere of interaction where people are encouraged to post and, in the longer term, even play more. With more players, there will be more games played and overall the skill level of the people playing in those games will rise more, resulting in higher-level play in general. I would argue that wolves have it the easiest when all players are complete rookies, and their job gets more difficult as the general level of skill increases, though this is nothing more but conjecture based on one person's experiences. If it is true, however, then that'd mean my action is useful in the sense that it helps Town not in just this game but every future game touched by the 'mafia-cone' of the players here via elevating the average skill level of all players to some immeasurably small amount.
While the overall is correct, I've seen plenty of games where egos of villagers have clashed so hard as a result of all good players playing that wolves never had to lift a finger to win. I just pray that this won't be the case this game.

Premise #1: Banks is always a wolf.

There, I wrote your into paragraph!

(In all seriousness if Banks ever does rand villager I am expecting a flurry of villagery relief from him the likes of which hasn't been seen around these parts since the Great Porn-Stash Hiding of 1988.)

I can usually accept them too, but I know and have played with every player in this list except trafficone, and I've seen some of these players and others who didn't make the list use post style to mask their wolfiness, and the % of its occurence is higher among this group than what I've seen outside of it.

To respond to the cue post or not respond to the cue post... ok, I'll respond to this one.

People doing inherently not-villagery things (like, say, making really annoying post formats for the sake of role playing), anytime but especially in a game when we have little meta knowledge, are going to get lynched by me this game until we run out of them or I'm dead (at which point I'll be yelling from DVC to lynch people doing inherently not-villagery things, which they probably won't because "why would someone do something so obviously wolfy/annoying?" at which point I'll adopt a puppy to kick).

    Saber,

You are aligning yourself with certain players by pointing this out here and in your previous post on the matter.

It's always beneficial to side yourself with the players you know are town.

    With love and admiration,

    Dwetzel,

I am sorry you feel that way about my posts.

Especially as I'm being very open this game.

However, it helps to lynch someone being so open rather than leaving them alive to WIFOM about at night.

    Don't you think?

I'm sure it's true, empirically. And you don't even need that because for anyone with a quirk there is a general tendency to have some reliance on it, given that as a wolf you are in a forever state of shakily suspended untruth - looking for somewhere to rest. Tendency wise, but it's not an extreme definitive thing. That said, in games with a bunch of people you don't know well, that would be increased in general principle because as a wolf you're in the dark as well - even more uncertainty so it becomes even more tempting to find the rest point. Wolves like to be able to read others and game state too. They have a hard time reading how the other players will read.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on that situation overall.

    John Murphy,

You have a much more neutral tone than Saber.

It makes me think you're trying to assess the situation.

I like how you say in this case that:

    "
Wolves like to be able to read others and game state too.
They have a hard time reading how the other players will read."

It's something that makes me want to drip through you.

I don't recall murph being overly serious in the game that I played with him. And, for that matter, his tone in this game didn't strike me as being unusual anyway. I'm afraid that you will need to elaborate further if this is something that you intend to pursue.

That's a fairly thin read, admittedly.
The point is that the post wasn't meant to be useful for solving, it was just a joking response to Pizza's prompt meant as a greeting. I find your question strange and waaaaay too try-hard. :P
On the contrary, I find that Tommy is behaving precisely how villagers should behave (and often do behave) at the start of the game. He is trying to make things happen so that the game can advance beyond the stage of saying hi and making random votes. You, on the other hand, have clearly been around for quite some time but have generally avoided involvement except to respond to posts directly toward you. And thus I am likely to vote for you after I've finished catching up.

    Hello trafficone,

In what way do you think my claim is nonsensical?

Do you believe I made it not taking into account whatever you're about to respond with?

Would inferring a wolfy motive be a wolfy response?

    These are relevant questions.

Wolves like to be able to read others and game state too. They have a hard time reading how the other players will read.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on that situation overall.
It goes both ways, really. As a town, I prefer being able to communicate with my other town to work together better. As a wolf, I would be nervous of those types of posters because I'd always be wondering what they are potentially secretly achieving with it. Putting both of those on a scale, I think the potential lack of communication and increased hostility rate between potential town and other town outweighs my own personal paranoia as a hypothetical wolf, seeing that as we are all top tier players that we can probably hold back our own misgivings and use our skill to overplay it.

So as I see it, cue will get a fair amount of flak from both sides for the above reasons, it'll just be cue's prerogative to adjust and parry as the game goes. That said, I'm leaving this topic here, as it's not really useful beyond theorycrafting.

soah, request noted; I'll try to get to this as I'm able. I'm not even sure it's worth the effort because it was more of a "hmmm, interesting" than an actual read I feel like pushing, but I'm certain I'm right about the posting style.

Hi sabes and soah. And the other guy who came in.
I can usually accept them too, but I know and have played with every player in this list except trafficone, and I've seen some of these players and others who didn't make the list use post style to mask their wolfiness, and the % of its occurence is higher among this group than what I've seen outside of it.

I almost forgot to dream big again. I'm glad you're here Merk.

I can't believe I've forgotten a lot of those precious memories.

Give a small plus to Saber for initiating our leave of musings.

    Hi again Saber,

It can burn flesh when you're testing the temperature with your hand and/or tongue.

Role of the Day
Time Bandit

The Time Bandit may each night submit a list of who they would have roleblocked on previous nights as well as on the current night. The list can be amended each night. Once per game during day, the Time Bandit can choose to sacrifice themselves by posting a public announcement in the thread. This will cause the Time Bandit to die and will cause all the roleblocks on their most recently submitted list to take place retroactively as if they'd been actually performed on the nights in question, causing any deaths and/or actions to be affected accordingly.
