After a long series of exchanges with Benji/Rachel, and her behavior in the recent Music mash, we've come to the conclusion that she's not a good fit for MU.

While a user striving to be better and change their behavior is something we'll always be receptive to and encourage, there's a point where a user's net effect on the community is too unacceptable to allow to continue. We've unfortunately reached that point with her.

wolfy has been banned for a continuing and escalating pattern of making inappropriate and unwelcome sexual comments both in public and private messages. When these comments were borderline and the intent was up for debate, the mod team extensively discussed the issue with wolfy in an attempt to change this behavior. Recent repetitions of this behavior have led us to the conclusion that the degree to which he's making our users uncomfortable at this point outweighs the utility of continuing to attempt to correct his behavior. Therefore, this is a permanent ban.

When it comes to overt prejudice such as in this and this, we don't allow for misunderstandings. On Mafia Universe we take Rule 10 of the Forum Rules seriously. We want to make it clear that prejudice against race, nationality, gender, or similar is not allowed and will not be given the benefit of the doubt.

LanMisa has been signup banned for two months due to breaching game integrity severely as a host after an extensive history of OGI issues.

BATMAN has been banned for one month due to continuous behaviour that has violated the Code of Conduct. Use of excessive condescension, directly insulting the intelligence of players and overall crossing into the "player not play" area of attacks are all actions which we do not condone. Repeated warnings have proven to be ineffectual in adjustment of behaviour so far, thus resulting in his ban.

Creature has been signup banned for one month for intentionally getting himself modkilled in Sam and Fuzzy Mash by character claiming while expressing awareness that this was against the rules and intent to do it again in the future.

Over the past week or so, an investigation was conducted into certain oddities noted in the posting of champs participant Ex Bidama Pucodaguma, who the champs organizers were told was an alternate account for elijah/killthestory. It was discovered that this was only partially the case, and that the EBP account was in fact an unauthorized hydra account used by multiple members of the account's home community (Flow). Due to the severity of this violation, we are forced to undertake the following actions:

- elijah, Blinzer, and Alison are banned for 1 year for violating the rules of the Mafia Championships (using an unauthorized hydra account)
- LisH and Kelp are both permanently banned for participating in the hydra AS WELL AS being alt accounts of banned user SystemSounds
- Ex Bidama Pucodaguma is permanently banned as a hydra containing a permanently banned user. Additionally, the account is ineligible to be considered for futher advancement in this year's Championship, though that should go without saying.
- The community Flow is permanently banned from competing in the Mafia Championships

During the course of this investigation, we discovered that another account, LargeAdultSon42069, was another unauthorized hydra, used during the January Oracle 13er. The users EvanManManMan and Exacerbated are both banned for 6 months for this violation. It should be noted that elijah participated in this hydra as well.

There is no evidence that integrity issues extended outside of the hydras, or that any of the people involved had external information they should not have had as a player of the game; the damage to the games in question is to the best of our knowledge contained within the slots, and is not considered sufficient to void the results of the games.

Secretly sharing an account when playing a game is not something we take lightly; it is a severe offense, and a form of cheating.

Seththeking (and, by extension, alternate account Solvis) has been permanently banned for a variety of reasons, the most pressing of which being several rape jokes, multiple sexual comments regarding other users, and generally being an obnoxious git.

In all seriousness, this $%#! won't fly. You don't joke about rape. Done. You don't drag other users into your perversions. This is a deal breaker. You don't get one month for it, you don't get three months, you get a perma. Know better. Be better.

Moonious has been banned for 6 months for being a continuously increasing disruption to the community and disregarding moderator instructions. Disruption has escalated to the point of making the Discord server uncomfortable for others in the environment. Moreover, the moderation team has discussed her behavior with her before. We are giving her a 6 month ban in hopes that she can return to being a welcoming member of the community.

PLZLEAVEDUCK has been permanently banned for repeated incidents of unacceptable behavior, culminating with violating a reasonable request regarding rape jokes in a recent completed game. He has been banned multiple times before and not behaved up to the standards asked of him. Therefore he is banned permanently from MU.

Let's talk a bit about this ban and the one of Seththeking.

The moderation team reluctantly admits that the word "rape" has common connotations involving "to destroy", "to own", "to initiative destruction", and so on. Making rape jokes is still not welcome on this forum and we don't really care about how it was OK with your friends, this is not a forum where you can freely say rape jokes and we are easily drawing the line here.

There's been a bit of concern in the past with things that we clamp down as part of Rule 10 of the Code of Conduct;

10. Hate Speech / Slurs

Do not engage in bigotry. Do not act with prejudice, use hate speech, or show bigotry towards classes or groups of people.

This includes the casual use of slurs especially when directed at other patrons, even if not naming them specifically. This includes "memes".

It's a casual gaming site, full of people who want to relax. Do not turn either MU forums or discord into a place to debate the politics of hate speech or offensive slurs, or to debate MU policy on slurs. People leave the server because they don't care to hear your opinions on the subject, and they don't want your opinions on the subject made into the topic of a casual conversation.

We will not post a full list of slurs, but beware of the following kinds of language, especially when directed at another user, implicitly or explicitly

1) Slurs which involve a person's ethnicity or national origin
2) Slurs which bash groups such as religious groups
3) Slurs which involve gender discrimination, orientation discrimination, sex discrimination of any kind
4) Offensive speech which does not use a slur but is equally discriminatory or provocative, especially when asked to stop. Adhere to CoC rule 1.

Probably the biggest surprise to many people would be the word "$%#!", though there's a bunch of other words that you shouldn't be saying either. As a further note if you've got a message in our inbox from us that tells you to be civil, says you're trespassing the Code of Conduct, or other such, this is not relevant to you.

A lot of people say such words "slip out" and we... understand. This is why if you see the first message from us it's to really just inform you of the rules and generally you aren't in trouble. We want to see improvement though because this is not a forum that allows casual hate speech. We get Mafia Universe is supposed to be a nexus. We have our own rules though, a basic standard. We're hopefully not asking for much.

For the previous two bans we are of the strongest opinion that both people would show no sense of remorse, no interest in giving respect, and no interest in even following moderator instructions about showing respect. Their behaviour shows a complete lack of respect. Maybe you made a super bad joke to the wrong audience - and on Mafia Universe it will always be the wrong audience - but these jokes go beyond that; they show a deeply rooted disrespect that we will not tolerate on MU.

BATMAN has been banned from playing games, with the exception of Champs games, for two months for an egregious instance of OGI. By outing that he had believed himself to have been posting in another game and commenting on his mindset in that posting, he made himself readable in one game based on his posts in another game, causing severe and easily preventable cross-pollination between games and requiring one of them to be reranded due to severely damaging its integrity.

Champ has been banned for 3 months for violating the Code of Conduct with respect to insulting others. Personal attacks on others after repeated warnings to discontinue such behavior is not considered okay.

Rachyl has been permanently banned from MafiaUniverse.

We don't do this often, but there were egregious violations on another site that would cause trouble on Mafia Universe. We decided to pro-actively ban Rachyl to avoid these problems in our immediate future. Reminder that we're not a police state shindig that monitors your thoughts and pasts, but if serious stuff comes to our attention we're not going to just ignore it and pretend things will magically work out differently here.

Phighter has been banned for 1 month for low-lying toxicity. Rule 10 of the Code of Conduct states:

10) You may receive moderation based on a series of objectionable posts or messages even if none of them are individually egregious. Rude and obnoxious posts may not individually merit moderator intervention, but they are not tolerated as a pattern of behavior. If you are frequently involved in unpleasant encounters, the moderators will have a lower threshold for intervention. Ignoring a moderator’s instruction when asked to improve is grounds for moderation.

During and after a recent game, he proceeded to harshly criticize another user, even though he was asked to stop more than once. This fits a pattern of behavior that is problematic on MU. With this behavior and the existence of rule 10, we have banned Phighter for 1 month.

metsnfins has been banned for 3 months for rulebreaking. Due to the nature of the rulebreak, further information about this ban will be added here at a later, more appropriate date.

UPDATE (13/03/2020): metsnfins has been banned for wilful and egregious use of Out Of Game Information for three months.

In RANDOMAFAI², metsnfins argued that a person was mafia because they were inactive in the game they were playing over another game he was playing. This clearly contravenes the rules about Out of Game Information, which had been explicitly made clear to him before. After a moderator announcement was made, metsnfins continued to utilise his egregious use of OGI to continue playing the game.

During this time, mets argued that what he did was not against the rules and the fact that the wolves seemed to be mad was a "difference of opinion", and not the fact that game integrity was damaged to the point where his own slot had to be modkilled. At that point, wilful ignorance of the rules is not a shield from the rules.

In addition, they willfully outed the wolf list in another game. Due to the egregious nature of these offenses, Jaiden will no longer be able to play games on our site.
