I have an acoustic guitar that I got from my brother at age 16, but the E string and the small plastic piece that keeps the E string (high E, not low) in place also broke, so the guitar is permanently 5 stringed. I really like playing the acoustic because it has a much crisper sound, and generally I think it makes things sound more... full, and bright, but electrics are just easier to play.

I got my electric a few years back. I was over at my friend's house and his mom was dating a guitar player. As backstory, about two years earlier my guitar fell off my bed and broke in half. I was prepared to quit playing forever. One day, Skip (the boyfriend) came over and he and I played guitar for about 2 hours before he left. Apparently, I was meant to play guitar, because he came back the next day with an electric guitar and told me "God told me in a dream to give this to you." I didn't really know what to do, so I just hugged him lol

Funny video, I guess the funniest most recent one is the the video where

I'm sure you've all seen it but it's still great

Jokes are just a temporary distraction from the fleeting inevitability of the crushing darkness that is slowly creeping as the clock ticks on, waiting to remove us from paradise.

    Alternatively: Your face :fire:

A good memory I guess, or at least the first one that came to mind, is one of my old dog, cha-chi. He was a Bichon Frise, we didn't name him cause he was adopted from a neighbor down the street. I loved that dog so much, he was pretty much the most loving thing ever. One day, I fell asleep on the floor and he dragged me around the house by my leg. I didn't wake up until he started licking my face, but he was such a good boy and pretty much any memory I have of him is a good one RIP

I am a food guy, so I eat e v e r y t h i n g. I love to cook, so I really like experimenting with lots of different recipes to really nail down the flavor that I want for each dish, or just to make variations of them! There is almost no food I hate, but I definitely don't like brussel sprouts. I've tried cooking them all sorts of different ways and with different things and every time I end up tasting raw sewage.

I have a few, mostly I respect just about anyone with the talent to play really good guitar. An example would be buckethead, but it doesn't have to be just a "GREAT GUITAR GOD" as long as they've practiced their fundamentals enough to solo well. Honestly, I almost respect drummers more, because it takes real stamina ON TOP OF SKILL to be able to do what they do, and generally people just lel at them

best exercises/ways for a beginner to get ones skills up on the guitar? this question is intentionally broad

    if thats TOO broad however...

whats an area of practice on the instrument that you believe most guitarists neglect but it pays off to put ones time into?

It was pretty hilarious. After that, I just continued to play and host tons and tons of turbos, sometimes upwards of 15 a day, often containing 15+ players (once around 40) and just kept playing and playing until one day I found out it could be played on forum. Around that time, the IRC chatroom died, so I just made the switch. Eventually thingyman sought out Video Game Forums, which was the home I settled on after a few years of wandering around the net, and they recommended I play, so I did.

I kind of hate mafia. Something about it bugs some part of my brain on the deepest level, and I take every game almost completely to heart, often causing every one of my bad decisions to weigh on me for, admittedly, my entire life. I remember every failure I've ever had, every loss I've ever suffered, and every time I've been humiliated

    But

When you're a villager in the thread with people you really like playing with, and you're all having a great time trying to find wolves who are trying REALLY hard and very successfully killing villagers under the guise of wolfhunting, and then you FIND one of those wolves that no one was looking for

    There is no better feeling

I also like to think that the social and observational skills I've acquired through years of mafia really help to both keep my senses sharp and give me an advantage in the real world. I think mafia is a fantastic way to develop conversational ability and persuasion skills, which are very very useful to have in a lot of situations

As a wolf I'm just in it to win it, so that's why my heart is never really there unless my team is GOAT.

I'll answer both because I want to and they're kind of related.

Step 1: LEARN THE ACTUAL NOTES ON THE GUITAR everyone says tabs are fine and yes, tabs are fantastic for learning new songs and to this day I still use them, but the way that you solo on a guitar, or even create songs, is you take the root note, fifth, or seventh of a scale and resolve them one octave up or down, using those notes.

As such, LEARN SCALES - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT. Minor blues scale, major/minor pentatonic are the very first basic scales you MUST KNOW if you want to even TRY to learn how to play guitar. You should also practice easier solos in songs first, to get an idea of how it's done. I started with sublime - santeria and similar when I was first learning to solo

It will take practice. It will take hours and hours of practice. I practice at least two hours a day, if not up to 8 hours a day, every day and have been doing that for roughly the past 12 or 13 years of my life just to get as good as I am today, and let me tell you most of that time was spent just doing the same thing over and over wondering if I was actually getting better. You are. The result is the progress, and eventually you will start to see marked improvement, but only if you KEEP TRYING

    Also practice the chromatic scale (hitting every open string and fret from 0-4 so E 0-4 A 0-4 D 0-4 G 0-3 B 0-4 E 0-4)

Learn the circle of fifths. It's how chord progressions work

also, PRACTICE CHORD PROGRESSIONS. One of the best ways to get your finger strength up to snuff is to actuall play chords a lot, and to practice quickly switching between chords. Eventually you'll find that your fingers are capable of doing a lot more a lot faster than you thought was possible. You need to learn many variations of many different chords, I reccomend playing Etude in E minor no 2 for guitar by heitor villa lobos. You won't be able to play it at full speed (because it's insane) but the chord progressions are a great example of the vital skills for playing a guitar well

can second all that stuff abt learning notes and circle of fifths and scales, I did jazz sax for years and you really need to know your scales if you want to do anything (especially with improv)

what music do you listen to

have you ever considered doing a walrus?

what do you do with computers

I know you quit, but if would you ever consider coming back to play a game, if so what would that game be (anni or smtn? Invitational with a bunch of your old buddies?)

Finally being proven right on my DT read, I was so vindicated

It actually comes from when I used to play world of warcraft back in 2005. My name was "Monstrouso" but when I came to forums I adapted it to "monstrman," partly because in WoW people kept assuming I was brazillian.

    If you don't mind the imposition;

    Where are your parents from?

Do you know the stories of your parents ancestors? Would you mind sharing them as you best imagine them?

    FROG GOAT

I'll tell the stories of my relatives as I know them

My dad's mom is mostly Polish and Italian. She, and her family, grew up in Boston which is where my dad was born. My Grandpa on that side was in the Navy, and his grandpa came over on a boat from Northern Italy. He was apparently from a long line of miners, and he left Italy stowed away on a boat to go to America because it was the land of opportunity. He ended up being the guy who carries raw dynamite in and out of the mines somewhere in the US, don't know anything else.

On my mom's dad's side, they're mostly farmers from Germany. They came from the old country I'm assuming during peak immigration periods or some such, and settled down around the wisconsin area which became my Great Uncle's family farm, eventually. My mom's mom's side comes from Sicily, I don't know much else about them.

I've tried somewhat hard to trace back my lineage, but I would like to get further tbh

you got a touch of la famiglia, eh?

    nice bro

Definitely get your living grandparents and parents to check out https://shop.nationalgeographic.com/...t-u-s-delivery

ez holiday stocking stuffer and kind of a fun thing to spit in tubes and speculate on who is most neanderthal

the reason i recommend this analysis company is due to their user privacy rights (in perpetuity) and the level of technology used compared to anything public (the parent company may change this, get on it before the rights change)

Role of the Day
Mind Controller

The Mind Controller can on any night choose to control someone's mind for the rest of the game. Once a target has been selected, the Mind Controller cannot pick a new one. If their action is successful, the Mind Controller will be informed and will from the beginning of the following night be able to decide who their target's potential night action should be used on. They will, however, not know what potential night action their target has.
