Today's recommendation:
Circle on Netflix. Solid B movie. Kind of Cube'ish / Exam'ish if you've watched those.
Watched Civil War yesterday. Was awesome, would recommend.
Every scene with Spider-Man, especially his whole introduction sequence, was awesome and my favorite parts of the movie. I also thought the Sam and Bucky's reaction to Steve kissing Sharon was hilarious and the entire theater laughed as well. I'm surprised nobody actually died, I thought Rhodey was just a trailer distraction (and he was), but at the end after Captain America shoved his shield inside Iron Man's chest charger-thingy and keeled over, I thought that was gonna be where he died. I also cried during the funeral sequence, I knew what had happened as soon as he got the text and I whisper-yelled "nooooooooooo!".
agree with iawy
except i didn't cry
also I liked how they avoided the cliche "overcome their differences to defeat the greater evil" ending. The resolution felt real and personal in a way that teaming up to fight evil space aliens didn't. Zemo was a good villain.

Totally agree with this
oyasumi~ oyasumi~ close your eyes and you'll leave this dream~
villagery bandwagon, would sponge
civil war was good, much better than ultron
I really liked Scarlet's story in this movie. How she got out of house arrest was awesome!

+1 on these civil war thoughts
especially about how the resolution was done well. good villain. Spidey was awesome. Also, it took many tries but they finally found someone that made an equally good peter and spidey (toby was a good peter, bad spidey. Garfield was a good spidey, bad peter. imo.
My favourite thing about the movie was the conflict. Too often are super hero conflicts written by five year olds *cough* Dawn of Justice *caugh*. This time you really understood why they couldn't agree because both had valid points and relatable personal motivations. Great storytelling, and probably the best we're going to see in a super hero movie.

I wonder if civil war is any good, anyone seen it?
Agree with this so much.

Watched Civil War today - can also recommend
When I saw the trailers I thought Spiderman's voice was really lame, but it made more sense in the movie, knowing he was just a young teenager - and to my surprise, his scenes were the best of the movie. Overall it was decent, and I enjoyed to see the many clashes between such a variety of heroes. There were a few things that bugged me on the logical part, though. Like what the $%#! was Vision doing in the first part of the battle when they all clashed - seemed like he could have had a much bigger impact, but kinda didn't do anything, before the scene where he destroys the roof of the building containing their flight.
Also, in the scene were it is said that those additional Winter Soldiers can take down a whole nation over night without any warning signals, I couldn't help it but to think "Well, why aren't they just doing that then?". Why goof around and use so much focus on the one Winter Soldier, who doesn't even obey them half the time, unless they say some unpractical long string of words, while they could simply had used the new squad to do their dirty job?

Second best super hero movie ever? Maybe. Black Panther was sick - between this and Draft Day, I'm really liking Chadwick Boseman as an actor.
Hawkeye was obviously the best, of course. Still no Deadpool though.
I don't give a $%#! about your spoiler tags. They were in the trailer! :P
Watched X-Men Apocalypse today - I'll give it a 6,5/10.
Overall fine and worth watching, had a couple good laughs, and the solo scene of Quicksilver really pulled up the entertainment momentarily.
If you liked the other X-Men movies, it's definitely one to watch at some point.
Civil war good;
Dawn of justice meh;
im interested in the new spiderman movie now because of civil-war.
Agree on Dawn of Justice not leaving much impression. It was only slightly good enough that I didn't feel bored.
"Also, in the scene were it is said that those additional Winter Soldiers can take down a whole nation over night without any warning signals, I couldn't help it but to think "Well, why aren't they just doing that then?"."
They were dead. As the villain said: "If it makes you feel better, they died in their sleep". They were dead the whole time, they were just a means of luring the Avengers to that place.
pretty sure he killed them, there were bullet holes in their heads iirc
There was, but they were already dead. I distinctly remember him saying what I said in my post above.

"Why didn't Zemo use the other WS's. When they first walk into the room Zemo says: "Did you really think I wanted more of you". They he goes on to explain they served their purpose in getting you to come here. Because they thought Zemo was activating them. But they died in their sleep, joke."
Now why did he then shoot them in the head? I dunno.
Okay, I'm stupid and I guess what he meant was he shot them while they were sleeping.
NEVER MIND ME!
yeah he was just going for some dark humor
The Nice Guys
Directed by the guy that made Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, another funny and similar movie (if you liked that you will probably like this), its a comedic take on a buddy cop style story set in the 70s, revolving around one case.
Really surprisingly funny performances from both Gosling and Russell Crowe, a lot of funny near-throwaway writing and physical comedy bits that often snuck up.
One especially funny scene involving a bee
Would highly recommend for those who like a dark comedic take on a reasonably light and for the most part not that deep or meaningful story.
Lolthingy
Ditto
Jack of all trades, master of some.
second this
very fun movie
everything works
triple-confirm that nice guys is pretty good
I watched Twelve Monkeys for the first time, the other day:
Excellent movie, watch it if you haven't already. Both Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis does a great job, while the movie itself feels very complete, despite having a quite unique story line and plot.
If you enjoy movies like Shutter Island, Memento, Inception, The Usual Suspects, etc., you'll also enjoy this.
I saw Warcraft in the cinema, yesterday. It was decent, although it felt a bit rushed at times, and a lot of things were not explained well - like, it's a 2 hour movie, yet I felt it was short. If you have played any of the Warcraft games and/or like fantasy universes, I'd recommend it.
Although this first movie didn't reach epic heights, I'd say it was far from a failure and there's a great potential for the future Warcraft movies(which seems likely there will be).
I watched conjuring 2;
If you liked the first one you'll like the second one. I really like that director's ghost movies(insidious films).
I would only watch it during the day though, ghosts scare the $%#! out of me.
The long goodbye
really enjoyed it, would recommend for people who enjoy noir films, and even those who don't.
elliot gould's performance is really something
caught the Batman/superman extended cut. liked it better than the theatrical version
This isn't a new movie, or even a popular movie, but I caught "No Escape" and I really dug it.
It reminded me of john carpenter's assault on precinct 13 which is a movie I really dug back in the day. Also in the same vein as 80's film warriors/they live(in the sense it's one man or group versus everyone).
If you like those types of movies i'd check it out.
*no escape from 2015;not the one from the 90's (though that one i also liked)

Our Kind of Traitor was decent.
Would recommend The Lobster. Very quirky and entertaining film, but you have to be into weird indie films to like it.
I also finally watched the russian Mafia movie. I had to watch it dubbed in French (there was no other available version to download) and then naturally with English subtitles, but it was decent enough for what it was. I think most people who like playing mafia will probably find the movie a bit interesting.
Carpenter's assault on precinct 13 is great
not a movie, but netflix just released a show called "stranger Things" thats a throw back to 80's spielberg movies and john carpenter films and stephen king works.
if you like ET/goonies/poltergeist and 80's nostalgia you'll probably enjooy this
suicide squad
If you like the DC movies like batman vs superman then you might like this. If you like will smith he's great in this. So is margot robbie. Big issue I had with this was the flashbacks; Some of the scenes from the flashbacks i want to see more than some of the scenes in the final cut.
I binged 5 episodes last night. Enjoying it a lot so far
Has anyone watched The Night Of? Thinking of starting that after
Saw a trailer for a new George Clooney movie with Julia Roberts.
He's a news anchor/money advice giver and she works behind the scenes or some $%#!. Guy walks into the studio with a gun and forces Clooney to strap on a bomb, he holds the detonator, while still being broadcasted to a live audience. Guy his upset about some sort of economy $%#! and wants everyone to listen. Looked pretty intriguing and I think the trailer is at least worth a good watch.
It's called Money Monsters.
the night of is superb
And if you feel that Batman vs Superman had narrative problems, then this movie suffers from those exact same problems :P
You see suicide squad for will smith, viola davis, and joel kinnaman.
Everything else was kinda meh even margot robbie, I don't think robbie did a bad job but the character was handled poorly.
It's almost finished, can't wait.
Finding Dory really good. Disney/Pixar just crushing.
I was skeptical that it could match up to Finding Nemo, my favorite Pixar movie, especially after watching the trailer, but it has a strong, simple narrative backed up by funny new characters, new intelligent ways of getting humor out of Dory's short term memory, and just stunning visuals.
After watching the film, I also found myself thinking that it's intriguing how they were able to make such a good film without the story actually having a villain.
Wasn't sure I would be able to sit through an Ellen DeGeneres led movie given her voice is pretty grating, but the octopus and the nemo sections were great to break it up.
my only real problem is the section with them driving the truck felt far fetched, even for an animated movie, stuck out as a bit difficult to suspend my disbelief, especially compared to the first movie which didn't really have anything similar.
Everyone should make a user on this site and start tracking all movies they've seen: https://www.icheckmovies.com/
Add me: MrThingyman
I've watched 1843 movies. Who can beat me?
what the $%#!

I have a Letterboxd I will check when I get a chance.
i clicked on 200 something before i got bored and did somethign else
Oh yeah for sure, you won't get it done in one sitting. It takes maybe a bit over a week to get it done, and then besides that you remember a movie once in a while that you'd forgotten to add.
It's best to go through lists. For starters, you could go through my list and check everything you've watched from that.
