For the record (so I can quote this in a few months time): I ask hypothetical questions during the random vote stage; I typical perform some vote-based numerical analysis if I survive to Day 2, and And I often (but not always) leave hidden messages in some of my early posts in a day. It has often been said that townies killed early on in the game are disadvantaged when it comes to the post-game voting. But here are the stats for last year's qualifiers:
N1: Tea - Placed 4th
N2: Quixima
N1: Elieson - Placed 2nd (wildcard)
N2: Kasabaru
N1: TomKat
N2: Krayzy
N1: CrimsonFox
N2: GeneralHankerchief - Placed 1st (finale)
N2: Apoc - Placed 3rd
N1: Ultra - Placed 4th
N2: Empoof - Placed 1st (finale)
N2: Zack - Placed 2nd (wildcard - though was given finale spot by jury)
N1: SirDantetheFancy
N2: Paratroopa - Placed 1st (finale)
N2: myc - Tied for 2nd (so didn't automatically advance, but was given wildcard spot)
N1: Dad - Placed 2nd (wildcard)

Of the 17 townies killed by mafia on night 1 or night 2, 6 of them earned a straight finale or wildcard spot. If we add in myc who tied for 2nd, then that's 7 out of 17 (41%).
I.e. if you die as a townie on night 1 or 2 in a qualifier game, then you have a 41% chance of finishing 1st or 2nd in the post-game voting. That is way above the statistical average.

Interesting, though I do bet anyone who gets lynched D1 or D2 has a much lower chance of advancing, so if the semantics of the sentence say "eliminated" early the preconception still holds. Granted, there's an argument to be made that if you're lynched early you probably didn't deserve to advance, town or scum, but this is mafia after all, and language precision counts
Everyone knows by now n2 kills are generally going to advance, it's the n1 kills that get screwed over. Only two n1 kills advanced directly through the votes and it really should be more, especially in a mountainous or near it setup, else it encourages people to lay low on d1 just to greatly improve their chances to advance.

To this day I have no idea why - the effect persisted whether I was actually in the Mafia or not, but the only way that I ever lived as far as D2 was playing with people who had seen me play Town before.
On the one hand, it made me near impossible to read. On the other hand, being continually lynched on D1 is a big part of why I don't play Mafia there much anymore...
I'm kind of hoping that this contest won't be subject to the same effect.
