I've been mostly fine. Busy with my life but observing champs dragged me back to this dungeon. How are you? It's good to play with you again.

agree it was kind of forced but not sure if just awkward start or if wolfy
And a big warm welcome to you, Dya. It’s lovely to be playing with you again!

I prefer to start off by just chatting with people about random stuff and get the thread vibe to be laid back and friendly. Let the village get comfortable with each other and the idea of working with each other. Wolves struggle in those environments imo and excel in the "everyone is aggro at each other" ones where they can just sit back and let people yell at each other.

So I'll start off by saying hello, I hope everyones having a good day, and comment on the fact that I just got back from lunch and saw a preview for a movie called "Yesterday" where some dude is the only one that remembers the Beatles and profits off making their songs his. It seemed kind of cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD6FDkUXSZQ
Fascinating observation there, Sunbae. Makes sense to me and I’m of course in favour of your approach. I’ve seen the trailers for that movie and I can tell you that I CANNOT WAIT!

Only Andrew has been making posts, which are pushing something so far imo. He's taking the game seriously. Good look for him imo.

Life has taken some trans down some dark roads for me since we last played together, Cap. It’s not stuff I can talk about openly in thread so I’ll PM you about it some time. And please, this is not a dungeon - It’s a delightful garden-maze where we seek to join together in a spirit of collaboration and getting to know one another better.

My phone suggested dungeon. I guess I get that for being part of an rpg maker community. But I like this being taken as a place of relief. It really can be a peaceful garden in times of real life turmoil.

Chemist could certainly be village. They have done nothing alignment indicative. I voted them because I wanted to get their attention.

I vote often because I think voting is the best way to both open dialogue with people as well as the best way to gain reactions which help make reads. I in no way have a significant opinion on anyones role yet.

I don't mind voting. I know we're barely out of rvs, I just wanted to point out the option here.

Sorry to hear about troubling times Percy. I've been having a really rough go of it the last handful of months as well. It's odd to visibly notice the frustration seeping into things I used to be positive about yet not really be able to stop it. I'm hoping a dip back into werewolf - a place that has brought me some joy over the years - will help me get in a better frame of mind.

I mean, I would expect the average person to at least make a mental note of the SoD time when signing up for a game.
you'd probably be surprised at the average person then
One string which sticks out as not rvs is this. I think dya's reaction is alright. Egix's little too eager to agree with Andrew, who might be considered overly aggressive here.
The thing is, I don't see Kliff's post to be indicative of anything. Seems like a random entrance to me.
Hm, maybe I should reconsider my previous favourable opinion of Andrew's engagement.
But he still looks better than Egix here, so I'm probably sticking with it for now.

It saddens me to hear this, Sunbae. I remember you being really positive, when I played with you about two years ago. I hope things turn out for the better for you again!

I am genuinely sad to hear that, Sunbae As I have learnt only too well over the past six months, life isn’t always a garden of roses but in times when it’s not, you learn to appreciate the roses so much more when you have them! Take care, my friend - I’ll say a prayer or two for you.

Interesting observation there, Cap. I honestly can’t say I saw anything untoward or suspicious in Kliff’s post and I know we all have our different approaches to these games, but Andrew’s reaction to it seemed a little ‘impulsive’ to me. Whether ‘impulsive’ equates to ‘opportunistic’, we’ll have to wait and see.

    Two thoughts:

    1. I'm not a huge fan of using comparisons to view someone positive in this way. Here, you're saying that you might need to reconsider your opinion on Andrew which was based on their level of engagement early and then sticking with the original assessment because you think Egix came off more poorly instead of thinking Andrew's actions were villagery. You're now making a read on Player A (andrew) based on Player B (Egix) being eager to agree. Egix's behavior doesn't have anything to do with Andrew you know? I think a more apt conclusion to draw is that "Egix and Andrew are unlikely to be partnered together based on how quickly Egix was agreeing with Andrew". Does that make sense (I sometimes struggle to articulate thoughts well)?

    2. Out of the entire exchange, the thing I noted to keep an eye on was Step quickly coming to the defense of Kliff by calling him LHF. I don't believe Kliff's post in question nor Andrew's query required such a quick and definitive defense, but it's more of a "keep a tab on this and see how it develops" than a "this is scummy" thing. I do think that it makes it unlikely that they are wolves together, but that's a smaller thing.

I thought Andrew's approach - asking others if they thought it was forced instead of declaring it forced and trying to explain to others why they should view it that way too - was more helpful than nefarious and opportunistic.

Sorry, taking this off-topic for a moment.
I too have taken up art again lately. I used to do a bit of water-colouring but have since discovered Procreate on my iPad. I used to truly suck at landscapes but with practice, am becoming reasonably good at it. I find it intriguing that in times of pain/stress/difficulty we turn to vehicles of self-expression - like wanting to assert our creativity through self-expression...

Im glad to hear both that you're becoming good at it and that practice does in fact make it easier. The number of times I x'd out halfway through because it was garbo is too damn high lol

This has turned out to be a somewhat different game to what I was expecting and more like the game I’d always hoped for...

Anyway, Sunbae, I agree. there were like 2-3 things I gleaned from that entire strong

I liked how andrew approached it.

And stepifan almost felt like he was defending the player being talked about. I tend to think the way he went about it was more wolfy than not - reminded me of a wolf white-knighting a villager but I can't rule out something like w/w. But the way it was prolonged felt more awkward to me that the original statement that andrew picked up on

Wowow this ain't meetup and chat. Sunbae just literally burned about 10 posts there just talking casually to people. This won't actually help and might even counter-effect because scums'll have the abilities to create honest vibes around people, even if we created a conscious, well-behave environment it won't last long til the first accusation. The thing is, you started this thing with skills you already had make me thing you want to lead this.

if you think there's anything to engage, I would love to do that instead of whiteknighting.

there are ways to play early game without white-knighting so it feels like a fallacious statement to say that it was either that or engaging

you'd probably be surprised at the average person then
One string which sticks out as not rvs is this.

That's not what he meant. Yes comparison has been done but not based off one to another but for seperate reasons:
    1. Andrew looks better because of engagement
    2. Egix looks worse for doing bad agreement (not being his sub)
I also find this rather scummy about egix: "I would expect the average person to at least make a mental note of the SoD time when signing up for a game." Lowkey shade saying kliff is not "average" there. But since it's just expectation there aren't much to say.
And no it doesn't say one is specifically townier or scummier than the other one but who would likely be a prefered wagon in a situation that requires to kill one.

Your mileage may vary. I read

to mean they were thinking about rescinding a villager read for Andrew and then deciding to keep it because they thought Egix looked worse. Which is I responded that basing their Andrew read on their Egix read isn't ideal to me.

As for wasting posts, I got some unfortunate news. I'm probably going to be in the top few posters and I'm probably going to have more posts chatting with people than I do already. It works for me. If it doesn't work for you, that's fine. Everyone has a different style that works for them.

And yeah, my goal is to lead the thread to a more laid back and friendly vibe. I've done pretty ok by doing that. Some people prefer the aggro version of werewolf where we just yell at each other but I find that one so much more tedious so I try to go in a different direction. If that's your cup of tea, that's cool too. Just probably won't get me to bite at it very hard.

The note I made was to pay attention to whether they were someone that seemed to argue about being correct a lot. The thinking being if they are, it was a prime spot for ezpz brownie points. I feel like w/w isn't likely after it but it's such a small portion of the game that it's not really something to make a big deal out of.

I'd like to see chemist give some thoughts on anything when they return. I feel like everyone else with more than one post at least touched on the game briefly - even if it was just to talk about a small thing like Kliff's post being NAI or what their general hope for the game was - but Chemist didn't.

Why would I brag about your attempts if you were just trying to lead as town.
Wolf leader is alarming and I don't like how you asserting your dominance by doing just talking casually and make it like a really big thing like that.

Role of the Day
Penguin

The Penguin may target a player each night and tell them a secret about another player in the game. The player that the secret is being told about is chosen randomly and so is the content of the secret. If the game features multiple Penguins and one of them visits the other, they will mate, causing all other actions that night to be blocked (can only happen once per game).
