Season 7, Game 8: Work in Progress [The Mafia Championship]

SEASON 7, GAME 8: WORK IN PROGRESS (MAFIA CHAMPIONSHIP)

Welcome to Season 7 of the Mafia Championship!

An international forum-based tournament for Mafia players from all over the world

Hosted By: Our automated @Mafia Host w/ @Telleo providing flavor
Start Date: May June 1st, 2020
Start of Day/End of Day: 11 AM EDT, 11 PM EDT
    Phase Lengths: 36/12
Lynch Mechanics: Deadline Lynch (2 tied players will randomly be lynched. No lynch is a valid vote. Starting Day 2, Majority is6 enabled, meaning the players can end day early if someone attains a majority of the votes.
Night Chat In Thread: No, thread will be locked during Night Phases
Out of Thread Communication: Only the Mafia team may communicate with each other outside of the thread (24/7)
LYLO Rules: Votes are automatically locked in at LYLO. I.e. when the game reaches a point where one more mislynch leads to a loss, you cannot change your vote once you have cast it.
Minimum Posting Requirement: Minimum 10 posts per Game Day
Maximum Posts Allowed: 150 posts per player per Game Day (restriction is lifted 2 hours before EOD though, so if you've reached your max you can post again at that time).

    3x Mafia Goon
2x Town Jack Of All Trades (9x Doctor, 9x Motion Detector, 9x Tracker)
    10x Vanilla Townie

Note that the Jacks Of All Trades must use all three actions before repeating an action, i.e. they are rotating. This does not mean they must use the actions in the same order every time.

    Relevant mechanics info
    - Votes are automatically locked in at LYLO.
    - Mafia factional kills are assigned. They can be tracked, watched, roleblocked, etc. (In this setup, that means they display as an action to the Tracker and the Motion Detector actions.)
    - Mafia share a factional Night Kill, which is a single standard shot for their faction. The mafia faction kill is mandatory.
    - Mafia may communicate at any time.
    - Each individual player may make a maximum of 150 posts per day phase (this restriction is lifted 2 hours before day end).
    - The game will have a host to oversee everything and make sure everyone’s following the code of conduct, but otherwise the game is completely automated (automatic votecounts, thread locks and reveals roles automatically, the bot receives and processes actions, etc.).

Doctor: Protects the target from kills on that night only (cannot self-protect)

Tracker: Learns who the target visited, but not what actions they did

Motion Detector: Detects motion involving the target on that night (finds motion if the target visited someone or was visited, with no distinction between the two)

    JOAT Role PM:
Role PM for Vanilla+ Champs Test Game -- Euro-Friendly!

You are Town Jack of All Trades (x9 Doctor, x9 Tracker, x9 Motion Detector). You win when all threats to Town have been eliminated.

    Town Jack Of All Trades

As Town Jack Of All Trades, you have access to one or more night actions.

    x9 Doctor

You have access to the Protection Night Action. Protection will protect your target from being killed. You will not learn whether you successfully protected someone. Submit your Night Action each night using the form below the game thread. You may change your target as many times as you want. The last action submitted will be used. You cannot target the same player on consecutive nights.

    x9 Tracker

You have access to the Tracking Night Action. Tracking another player informs you who that player used a Night Action on that night, if any. You will not learn what type of Night Action your target has. Submit your Night Action each night using the form below the game thread. You may change your target as many times as you want. The last action submitted will be used.

    x9

You have access to the Motion Detect Night Action. Motion Detecting another player will detect any motion surrounding that player that Night. If they visit someone or were visited by someone else, you will detect motion. If they did not visit anyone and were not visited by anyone, you will not detect motion. You will not learn what type of Night Action was used on or by your target or who used those actions. Submit your Night Action each night using the form below the game thread. You may change your target as many times as you want. The last action submitted will be used.

Submit your Night Action each night using the form below the game thread. You may change your target as many times as you want. The last action submitted will be used.

If you do not submit an action, you will forego your action on that day. Keep in mind that if you have multiple uses of your abilities, you must cycle through all of them before being allowed to reuse any of them.

Hello I am ! !22-22-7. I chose my username so that I would always be first in the memberlist alphabetically. When playing this game I'll try to be as active as possible, but I have to admit I've never played on a site as active as this one so there will definitely be a bit of a learning curve to me. Good luck to everyone else playing!

I originate from the lighthearted realms of roleplay mafia where I first discovered the thrills of stamping out evil and slaying innocents!!! My hunger for greater challenges drove me to Mafia Universe, stoking the fires of mafia hype!! Here I have thrived, my never-ending quest for improvement pitting me with and against players of all kinds, bringing me from the heights of mountainous to the depths of bastard mashes!!!!

When not engaged in the combat of a game, I often delight in hosting my own matches or swapping tales of valour with other adventurers by the fireside, and am always down for any and all discussions about mafia!!!

I enjoy murder and long walks along the beach!!

I look forward to embarking on this next adventure with you all!!!

    REPRESENTING: The Motte

    NATIONALITY: Australian

STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): I played my first game in the early 2000s.

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: Real life.

    BIO:
I’m Ash Lael, and I’m representing r/TheMotte. The Motte is a subreddit for calm, rational discussion of very controversial political/social issues between people of wildly different perspectives. You can argue that Mao did nothing wrong or that the USA should become an ethnostate, but you can’t be rude or sarcastic. Our weekly Culture War megathread regularly gets 3-4K posts.

And because we’re all a bunch of nerds, we also have an intermittent game series, where we play games like Diplomacy, Mafia, or Nomic with each other. Our next project is intended to be a Survivor ORG.

As the organiser for the Motte Plays series, I was our subreddit’s unanimous choice to represent here - despite the fact that I’m actually not very experienced with Mafia.

In real life I’m a stay at home dad looking after three young kids. Before that, I was a political operative. I’ve worked for three politicians you probably haven’t heard of and one who (if you’re Australian) you’ve definitely heard of and probably have strong opinions about. And before that, I used to pick up dead bodies. So I have a LOT of good stories.

BIO: When I accepted the responsibility to write bios for people, I only did it to write for one person I knew wouldn't submit. I wanted to roast them, post a funny picture, and be done with it. Now, that person isn't even playing, and I'm stuck writing tens of bios, that take minutes of my time. Truly, this is what suffering feels like. I am trapped by my obligation to MU and to champs.

I'm going to move to the country side and become a goat farmer. No one will find me there. There, I might be at peace.
    Bio provided by @Mantichora.

    5) Catty91

    REPRESENTING: Werewolves Downunder

    NATIONALITY: Australian

STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): I started playing Werewolf in 2017 or so.

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: Lynch or be Lunch; Werewolves Downunder

    BIO:
Hey! I'm from Sydney, Australia. I have Peter Pan Syndrome so I also feel a lot younger than I actually am on some days. I'm also a big Disney fan. I like music a lot - I work as a musician and music tutor. I'm rubbish at reading people in early days of the game but tend to have a good idea late in the game so if I die early, please just disregard anything I said.

    6) Daniel

    REPRESENTING: The Bell Tree

NATIONALITY: American (East Coast Best Coast)

    STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): 2015

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: The Bell Tree, Flight Rising

    BIO:
Hey guys! I’m currently a 3rd year college student majoring in economics and political science (I’m quite liberal). What I love about playing mafia with strangers is finding out their play styles and the unique way they project their voices. I’m excited to see how other forums play mafia and what norms they have compared to mine. My favorite role has to be serial killer/hostile TP as it means I could both scum hunt (which I love doing) as well as being deceitful and secretly causing chaos (which I also love doing). Mafia is really fulfilling to me and I’m so proud to be representing my community this year!

Also, side note: I’m starting a new job on June 2, so I’ll be trying to balance that with this game. Should be fine but just wanted to let you know before the game starts.

    REPRESENTING: The Sims Forums

    NATIONALITY: Singapore

    STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): 2017

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: The Sims Forum and UltimateMafia Forum

    BIO:
My fellow mafia friends call me scum slayer. It started out as a joke cuz I was so certain that a player in the game was scum but no one listened to me. And in the end, I was right. And so I made it like an inside joke. But the more we played, the more we see that I'm quite good at finding scums.
My fav anecdote is that one time I was scum with 2 other people and none of the townies suspected us or lynch us and we made it all the way till the end alive.

    REPRESENTING: Worstgen

    NATIONALITY: German.

    STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): 2017.

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: WorstGen, Oro Jackson, Thriller Bark and Naruto Forums.

    BIO:
So, where do I start? I started playing in 2017 because I was interested in that and just signed up for a game. I liked it, so I continued playing. So, there you go. There isn't much to say about me, really. I hope we will have a nice game and that we will have fun.

    REPRESENTING: Two Plus Two

    NATIONALITY: USA

    STARTED PLAYING MAFIA (YEAR): 2010

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: twoplustwo/mafiauniverse

    BIO:
I first played the game of Werewolf or as many call it "Mafia" on the twoplustwo POG (Puzzles and Other Games) forum around 2010. Since then I've played hundreds of games as well as hosted/modded a handful. I look forward to meeting many of you, good luck!

HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES:

BIO: How is it that someone from a facebook play-by-post community is one who isn't submitting a bio? Isn't that, like, the point of the website? This is utterly ridiculous. Lissa? Yeah, hello. I'm going to need you to PM these people and get them to submit their bios. I don't know, just take their "about me" page off their profile or something. What? They aren't responding? Why wouldn't they respond??? If I can write 15 bios, they can each write one. That's all I'm saying.

    BIO:
Hello! Name is RagingIke, friends call me Ike. I first played mafia in person at youth group in like 2012. I prefer playing scum over playing town, I'm an info guy and I like to have the info more than look for it. I feel like day 1 is almost always a waste of time when you're in it but it's useful to look at later. Personality wise, I like to think I'm funny, I'm the oldest of 4 siblings, have a bachelor's in econ and hate the state I live in. I'm representing The Sock Drawer, which is a relatively small community that mainly plays games like mafia, fantasy football, RPGs and simulators. HAVE PLAYED MAFIA ON THE FOLLOWING SITES: Never online. Only in person.

    BIO:
Zen Blade has played hidden role games for many years. Originally, a mafia player in California, they currently play primarily Werewolf and Avalon in Austin, Texas. Both of these two groups have been regularly playing for several years, and are currently surviving the COVID-19 quarantines online using Discord and Zoom. Zen Blade is a big believer in player reads, and wonders if their skill will translate to a forum-based system.

WHAT THE $%#! DOES "WTF" MEAN?

Are you not familiar with some of the terminology used by the other players? Maybe this will help you: TERMINOLOGY EXPLANATIONS.
    MAFIA GAME RULES
Rules may vary from community to community, so we highly advise you to carefully read these rules.

    • Only post/talk about the game in this thread. Don't PM other players, unless you are mafia and wish to talk with your teammates. Also, don't post anything about the game in other threads or on other forums.
    • Don't try to use the form of your role PM. So a screenshot of your role PM would be cheating.
    • You are not allowed to change your avatar, location or any other profile info during game in any way that could be construed as hinting at your role.
    • This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win.
    • If we believe you to be bending the rules intentionally in a way that clearly goes against the spirit of the rules and the game, then that would also be grounds for modkill.
    • If you have any questions about rules, send a PM to your host. Avoid asking questions to the host in the thread.
    • Don't ever refer to private communications with the Game Host.
    • If you should ever require a replacement, PM Lissa and stop posting in the thread.
    • No hydra'ing / multi-accounting is allowed. Do not share your account with anyone else.
    • You are not allowed to reference the post-game voting during the game. I.e. you cannot post "if you lynch me, you're not getting my vote after the game" or anything like that.
    • Treat your fellow players with respect. Hostility will not be tolerated.

Refer to this post for the complete, standard ruleset for mafia games.

I will repeat this particular rule once more in big letters to make sure you understand:

DO NOT EVER REFERENCE THIS GAME OUTSIDE OF THIS GAME THREAD. YOU SHOULD NOT BE TALKING ABOUT THIS GAME WHATSOEVER ON YOUR HOME SITE. IF PEOPLE ASK YOU QUESTIONS, TELL THEM YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT THE GAME AND LINK THEM TO THIS THREAD.
    MINIMUM ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
All players are required to make a minimum of 10 posts per game day.

The game hosts and tournament organizers reserve all rights to immediately sub out any player not meeting this requirement, regardless of whether or not the player has met the requirement on previous days. Similarly, if players are only meeting this requirement by spamming and/or posting in the last hour of the day, that and similar circumstances would also be cause for substitution.

If players aren't posting, the tournament organizers will always first try to prod the players in question.

    SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURE
If your representative needs to sub out during a QUALIFIER, your community's backup will take their place, assuming 1) you've elected one, 2) they've registered a user on Mafia Universe, and 3) that I'm able to get a hold of them within a reasonable amount of time (i.e. with enough time left in the current phase for the sub to work with).

If I can't get a hold of your backup, I will give the spot to a representative from a community that joined the series late - or failing that, a backup from one of the larger communities.

If your representative needs to sub out during a SEMIFINAL or FINALE game, your community's backup will NOT take their place. Instead the next person who was in line to receive a semifinal or finale spot will take their place.
    DISCLAIMER ALERT
The beauty of the Mafia Championship is that it brings communities closer together, and it provides an opportunity for players to learn new playstyles, metas and mechanics. And hopefully make new friends as well.

All that being said, the games can also very quickly become overwhelming and frustrating since you probably won't be able to play completely in the same way that you're used to. You don't necessarily need to adapt, but you will probably need to accept that some of the other players will have a different approach to the game than you.

We hope that you will embrace this as part of the experience. It's easy to grow frustrated with people when you don't know them (imagine how you would have felt playing with your friends on your home site if you didn't know any of them when you played your first game together), so a huge part of playing in the Championship is also getting to know the other players in some way.

Specifically, the seasons have taught us that you should be prepared for:
    • A very high level of activity. On average, there will be 500-600 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game in qualifier games, and likely more in semifinal/finale games. This is a melting pot of dedicated and enthusiastic players all gathered in one game.
    • You will likely face very different posting styles: Some will post walls of texts with many quotes, some will post a ton of one-liners, and some people will be very keen to interact in real-time in the thread (using the thread as a chat rather than a thread you pop into a few times a day).
    • A flurry of activity towards the end of the day. This means that if you check out 5 hours before the day ends, you should not be surprised to return the next day to see that the wagons were changed multiple times. If you want your vote to count, be careful to not agree to a game where you can never be around for EOD.
    • A few players in your game will probably have played with each other before. This has become impossible to prevent as increasingly many players have played on Mafia Universe.
    • We do not condone abusive remarks and we have banned several communities from participating based on this before, but each season features dozens of new communities, so there is always a slight risk that you might encounter abusive players. If you do, please report them and we'll take care of it.

Past seasons have shown that players get more enjoyment out of the games when they make connections with the other players, so we highly encourage you to join our Discord server either before or after the game.

Finally, we encourage you to at least skim some of the season 6 games to get a sense of how the games usually play out: https://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums...mmunity-Events

Season 7, Game 8: Work in Progress [The Mafia Championship]: Game Information!

This is an automated game of Mafia.

    Setup - 15 Players

    x3 Mafia Goon
    x10 Vanilla Town
x2 Town Jack of All Trades (x9 Doctor, x9 Tracker, x9 Motion Detector)
    • POST RESTRICTION: You may only post 150 times per Day phase. This restriction will be lifted 2 hours before phase end.
    • Majority will be in effect starting Day 2. Day 2 onward will end the instant a majority is reached.
    • Town wins when all threats to Town have been eliminated.
    • Mafia factions win when they achieve Parity and all other evil factions have been eliminated at any time.
    • Votes are automatically locked in at LYLO.
    • No Lynching is enabled. Vote for No Lynch to forgo a lynch that Day.
    • Mafia factional kills are mandatory. Mafia must submit a factional kill each night, or a player outside their faction will be chosen at random.
    • Mafia factional kills are assigned. They can be tracked, watched, or roleblocked.
    • Mafia share a factional Night Kill, which is a single standard shot for their faction.
    • Mafia may communicate at any time.
    • Tied votes will result in a player being lynched at random from among the tied players.

    Phase Lengths

Days are 36 hours in length. Nights are 12 hours in length.

    FAQ

Are you unsure about how actions are processed or how roles interact with each other? Then read more here:

    ORDER OF OPERATIONS

Night actions are processed in this order:

    Strongman kills
    Roleblocks
    Jails
    Doctors
    Bodyguards
    Kills
    Investigations
    Backups

When an action was submitted during the night will never matter when the actions are processed.

    ACTION FEEDBACK

These are the results you will get when you submit certain actions.

Non-investigative roles when they submit an action (they also receive this if they are roleblocked):

Your action on Player A was received.
Investigative actions return results even if the target dies on the same night.

Actions that count as visits are counted as visits even if the actor dies on the same night.

Investigative roles (Tracker, Cop, etc.) when roleblocked:

Your action on Player B did not return any results.
Trackers when tracking a person that didn't visit anyone (or if they targeted a Ninja):

Player C did not visit anyone.
Watchers when watching a person that wasn't visited by anyone (or only visited by a Ninja):

Player D was not visited by anyone.
Alignment Cop when investigating a town-aligned player (or a Godfather):

    Player E is Town
Watcher when watching a person that was visited by multiple people:

Player F was visited by Player G, Player H, Player I
    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I submit my action?
Use the form below the game thread. If your role has a night action, the form will only be visible during night phases. It's not possible to submit actions in advance of the night phase.

What does it mean if the Mafia Host says that night kills are assigned?
In games with this setting turned on, the member of the mafia team that made the most recent night kill submission will be the one assigned to the kill, which means that the kill can be blocked if a Town Roleblocker or Town Jailkeeper target the mafia player in question. Similarly, the kill can be tracked and watched by Town Trackers and Town Watchers. If this setting isn't turned on, then it doesn't matter who the last person to submit the mafia kill is, as the kill is unblockable and untrackable in this case.

Where do I find example role PM's?
This thread contains example role PM's for all roles currently supported by the Modbot as well as information on the various modifiers. Here you will find the answers to a lot of questions not covered in this FAQ section.

    Which roles can self-target?
Only Watchers are able to use their ability on themselves at night. This means that Doctors or Jailkeepers aren't able to protect themselves, for example.

Which roles are not able to target the same players on consecutive nights?
Doctors, Jailkeepers, and Roleblockers are not allowed to target the same player twice in a row. Everyone else is, including Bodyguards. Note that this non-consecutive restriction still holds true even if one of these three roles were blocked the night before when targeting the person that they're attempting to target again.

What happens if Jailkeeper A and Jailkeeper B or Roleblocker A and Roleblocker B target each other (and are not targetted by other blockers)?
In the case of Jailkeepers, they will block and protect each other. In the case of Roleblockers, they also block each other. This means that the two players are trackable to each other that night by Trackers and Watchers. It also means that if one of them is mafia and happens to simultaneously be the one submitting the factional kill that night in a game with assigned kills, then this kill is blocked. This same principle applies to longer loops. I.e. in a A > B > C > D > A loop, everyone is blocked.

What happens if Jailkeeper A targets Roleblocker B who targets Jailkeeper A?
Jailkeeper A will be blocked in this scenario. Refer to the order of operations: Roleblocks process before jails.

What happens if Jailkeeper A targets Roleblocker B who targets Player C?
As stated above, roleblocks process before jails, so Roleblocker B will successfully block Player C. I.e. Jailkeeper A will fail to block Roleblocker B, but will still protect Roleblocker B.

What happens if Jailkeeper A targets Jailkeeper B and Jailkeeper B targets Jailkeeper C (who isn't targeting any of the former two)?
In this case, Jailkeeper A would prevent Jailkeeper B's block from occuring, meaning that Jailkeeper C's action is not blocked.

If an X-Shot role is blocked while using a shot, do they lose that shot forever?
Yes. A 1-shot Vigilante being blocked while attempting to kill someone will not have their shot refunded.

If someone with a Strongman modifier kills Player A who is protected by Bodyguard B, who dies?
Player A will die, and Bodyguard B will survive.

Can a mafia team choose not to kill anyone during a night?
The host can determine this using the Mafia Factional Kill setting. Kills can be mandatory, optional, or disabled altogether.

The default is No. The mafia factional kill is compulsory. This is done in order to avoid deadlocked games where the town keeps no lynching and the mafia refuses to submit a kill. If the game has assigned kills, it will be randomized which member of the team is carrying out the kill.

If there is only one mafia member left in a game without assigned kills, can the mafia factional kill then be blocked and/or tracked?
    No.

Can the mafia submit a kill for one of their own members?
    No.

If I kill someone, does their night action, if they have one, still succeed?
Yes, killing someone doesn't prevent them from performing their night action (unless they investigated someone, in which case they will not receive a report). Refer to the order of operations: All kills happen at the end of the night, and everyone pulls the trigger simultaneously.

Can individual night actions be proxied on mafia teams?
No. If the mafia team has a Mafia Roleblocker, for example, and they want to use this role's action, then the player occupying that slot must submit the action themselves.

If a Lover is shot during the night, while the other Lover is protected that night, does the other Lover still die?
Yes. It's not possible to prevent a Lover from dying of love sickness.

If a Bodyguard protects Lover A, while Lover B is shot during that same night, what happens?
A dies of love sickness and Bodyguard lives.

If there are any Innocent Childs in the game, are these confirmed in the thread right when the game begins?
No. Innocent Childs are able to decide themselves when or if they wish to have the Modbot confirm their role and alignment in the thread. Note that this is exclusively a day action and that it can take up to one minute for the Modbot to process the action.

What results are Alignment Cops, Full Cops and Role Cops given if they investigate a Godfather or a Miller?
Alignment Cops are told "Town" for Godfathers and "Mafia" for Millers. Full Cops are told "Vanilla Town" for Godfathers and "Mafia Goon" for Millers. Role Cops are told "Godfather" for Godfathers and "Miller" for Millers.

Can Role Cops tell the difference between a Vanilla Town and Mafia Goon?
No. They are told "Vanilla" when investigating either of these two roles.

If I roleblock someone with a Bulletproof Vest, will that nullify the effect of the vest?
No. Bulletproof Vests are passive modifiers that cannot be blocked from working.

If I roleblock Masons, Neighbors or Lovers with out of thread communication privileges, can I prevent them from talking at night?
    No.

If I roleblock a Godfather, will they still be revealed as being town-aligned to Alignment Cops and Full Cops that night?
    Yes.

Are you wondering about how to vote, submit night actions or multi-isolate players? Read about this and more here:

    HOW TO VOTE

Our forum votes for someone by using the vote tags: [V]Thingyman[/V]. Preview:

    ##Vote Thingyman

Make sure that you spell out the full, correct name. Abbreviations or misspelled names will not be registered by the Modbot.

To unvote, use the tags: [UNV][/UNV] . When unvoting you do not need to enter the name of the person that you are unvoting. Preview:

    ##Unvote

    VOTING BUTTONS

You can also quickly vote for someone by clicking on the box with a checkmark icon, which will bring up an alphabetized dropdown containing the names of living players:

This will insert [V][/V] tags with the name of the player you selected in the dropdown, perfect every time.

Click the empty checkbox button to insert [UNV][/UNV].
    HOW TO SUBMIT NIGHT ACTIONS

If you have a night action, simply submit this at night by scrolling to the bottom of the game thread. Here you will find a night action form like this:

Click the dropdown and select the player whom you wish to use your night action on. You can change it as many times as you wish before the deadline expires.
    HOW TO REQUEST A VOTECOUNT

Votecounts will appear automatically at various intervals, but you can also call up votecounts yourself by following these steps:

First, you need to apply to join "Mafia Game Hosts" under Permission Groups.

Second, once your request has been approved, you will be able to call up votecounts by simply pushing the "Post Votecount" button in the top right corner of any game thread that you'd like an updated votecount for.

    OTHER SPECIAL FEATURES

    VIEWING VOTE HISTORY

There are three ways to access the vote history for any game.

    1. Click on the "Vote History" button in the top right corner of the game thread:

    2. Click on the "View Vote History" link, which accompanies all votecounts:

    3. Click on Modbot in the top forum menu. This will give you a list of ongoing and completed games:

Next, simply click on "Vote History" to view all votes for that game.

Following any of the above three steps will bring you to an overview like this one:

Click on a Voter's username to view all of the votes by their slot.

Click on a Target's username to view all of the votes for their slot.

    ISOLATING A PLAYER'S POSTS

If you wish to read a player's posts in isolation, simply click on "ISO" in the top right corner of one of that player's posts in the relevant thread as illustrated here:

Alternatively, you can access a player's posts in isolation by clicking on the number next to "Replies:" in the forum lobby.

Doing so will pull up a window listing the post counts for everyone who has posted in that thread. You access someone's posts in isolation by simply clicking on the number next to "Posts:" for that person.

The ISO view itself has Quote and Multi-Quote buttons inside it, which will make it very easy to quickly quote a lot of a player's posts for analysis or commentary:

    MULTI-ISOLATING

If you wish to read not just one player's posts, but you want to ISO multiple players, then click the "Multi ISO" button to the left of "Game Tools" and select the players in question as shown here:

    MULTI-QUOTING WHILE THREAD IS LOCKED

Note that you can multi-quote posts from even locked game threads. This is useful for when you wish to reread the game and do work during night phases.

After quoting the relevant posts, you simply open a different, opened thread and press "Go Advanced". Then add the quotes to your post by clicking the prompt below the post area as shown here:

Now, of course you can't post your work in the game thread while the thread is locked, but you can copy paste and save your work to a local file or the cloud and have it ready to post the very next day phase (if you're still alive, that is).

    BOOKMARKS

Whenever you open a game thread, you are able to bookmark posts. This is for many players an important tool for keeping track of and remembering vital pieces of information, reads, claims etc.

Also, note that these bookmarks are saved to your user account, meaning that it eliminates the trouble associated with keeping notes between different computers/devices.

If you want to bookmark a post, you simply scroll to the post that you want to bookmark and press "Set Bookmark" as shown here:

This will call up 5 different colored icons (Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, and Black) on the right side of the post in question. You can click any of these icons, which will then prompt you to include a note for the post.

If you don't want to include a note, you don't have to - just leave it blank. The color coding in itself can be a valuable tool. Maybe you want to use Red bookmarks for posts that you find suspicious, Green bookmarks for posts that you find townie, Black bookmarks for posts containing claims, or whatever system you can think of that will be helpful to you.

Once this is done, you have now successfully bookmarked a post with a certain color and maybe even a note. If you wish to remove the bookmark again, click on "Unset Bookmark".

    How do I access bookmarks?

There are two ways to access your bookmarks.
    1. Inside a game thread, you can access the bookmarks for that specific game by simply right clicking on the "Bookmark" button and opening the link.

This will bring you to a separate page that is automatically filtered to only show bookmarks from the game thread that you accessed the page from.
    2. You can also access your bookmarks by going to Features in the site's top menu:

This will bring you to a page where no bookmarks are shown by default. However, you have several filtering options.

You can filter by Game, by Player and by Color - and all of them at once if you so wish.

Here's an example of filtering by only red bookmarks in one specific game:

If you want to be taken directly to one of your bookmarked posts, you just click the post number.

    How do I quote bookmarks?

You can also multi-quote bookmarked posts by clicking the little "+" button seen above on the far right side of each bookmark.

Once you have multi-quoted all the bookmarked posts that you want to quote, you will then have to go to the game thread in which you wish to quote the bookmarked posts.

Here you have two ways of quoting the posts.

    1. Click on "Reply With Quote" on another post as shown here:

You will then probably want to delete the last post quoted in the reply box, but otherwise you should be good to go.
    2. Or you can do the more smooth option and click the "Reply To Thread" button at the top and bottom of the game thread - as shown here:

By doing this you will open up a reply box containing only your multi-quoted bookmarked posts.

    Final Words Mafia

    What will they be?

    Do you know?

    Can you ever know?

    Welcome.

Welcome to the edge of the world.
The boundary of time and space.
    The frontier of finality.

Lean but a little, and you will fall.
    This is the end.
This is the end of the end.
The beginning of… the next. The nothing. The everything.
The void and the endless expanse.
Do you have any final words?

“Tomorrow, at sunrise, I shall no longer be here.” -Nostradamus

    Hello everyone!

I’m very excited to be in this game! From your bios I can see that we all come from such diverse places like forums, facebook, or play IRL. To get a conversation going and learn a bit of your play styles, I’ve prepared a few questions:

    1. If you’ve played on a forum, please link the last game you played. If you can’t link one then please describe how it a bit and what you did it in (This is the most important one to answer if you don’t answer anything else)
    2. How do you handle pressure?
    3. How do you scumhunt?
    4. Do you know any of the players here? If so who and how?
    5. Name a 3 person scumteam

    Here’s my answers:
    1. Here’s my latest game from last week (I was a replacement and came in Night 1). I also played the last three games before it.
    2. I try to be as cool and reasonable as possible to answer the pressure. I know at some point everyone will be suspected, so it’s not a personal attack at me being questioned. I hate emotions being used, so I always avoid that
    3. Early game I like to get my townreads first and then work by process of elimination. I ISO my null and slight scum reads to world build and strengthen my reads
    4. I don’t know anyone here
    5. AshLael, !!22-22-7, and Drums

I'm liking Daniel's spirit. Looks like somebody eager to play and trying to analyze players.

    1. Horror Nights on NF, I was Town there.
    2. I can handle pressure quite well, but I'm not gonna lie, it's NAI in my case.
    3. I tend to be either incredibly pushy or very observant. There is barely any in between.
    4. I don't know anyone here.
    5. Ara, Dekay and Steele.

Hi Daniel!!! Normally not something I'm into, but it's pretty quiet so far so I'll make an exception:

    1. Elements mash - let's just say I'm a bit of an active player, though I'm not conserving posts until I hit a hundred!!!
    2. I don't interact with pressure on me anymore; I'd much rather lynch mafia instead!!!
    3. Constructing a box!!!
    4. I've talked to AshLael from spec chat (never played with), seen DeKay play, have technically played with Kruze in a mash or two before, but those don't count... so in general haven't played with anyone here before, which I'm very excited about!!!
    5. Panther/Chemist/Limestone!!!

Here's a question for you: do you normally do RQS?

    Hello!!

OK so I sort of didn't actually realize that because none of you know who I am, you're forced to call me some derivative form of ! !22-22-7. Sorry about that. You can call me Vincent if you are interested in typing a name which has letters.

    As for Daniel's questions:
    1. https://fftwg.createaforum.com/the-w...ation-(day-1)/ This is the second last game I played, but the last one was super gimmicky (every single role was independent) and I died immediately so I figure this game fits the spirit of your question better. I subbed in for a wolf who had already been suspected as such. I spent most of it on my own, and I survived by mirroring the prominent town players. I made it to LYLO but lost (and bc of some weird twist the other side lost too)

    2. My form of handling pressure is essentially trying to purposefully ignore it and act as if there is nothing to be concerned about, because doing anything else will make me play much worse.

    3. Honestly I'm mainly a gut player. If I see something you posted that feels off, I'm going to feel inclined to scumlean you. Of course I'd explain my thoughts, but this isn't as methodical a style of gameplay as many others.

    4. Don't know anyone.

    Hi there Fleur!!!!!

Is that an alignment read or an observation on Daniel's hype for the game?
Just an observation on Daniel's hype for now.

I've spectated DeKay in the past couple of seasons, though I don't recall much about his particular play (sorry Dekay)!!!

Meant to say that my games with Kruze don't count because they were mashes (12/12 40+ player games, can go up to ~170) in which I barely interacted with him, if at all!!

I see; they're just simply not my thing, as I prefer hyping with people into reads more naturally, and those always feel forced!

So if a player made a case on you, would you respond to it or would you ignore it? What do you mean by not interacting with pressure?

Can I ask why you chose players not in this game for your scum team?

I won't ignore cases on me in so much as pointing out that I am town (I figure acknowledging any major cases is important), I meant I wouldn't view it as a very important thing to dedicate a lot of my time towards. I'm basing that on past experiences where I would focus all of my energy on that, which made it very easy for mafia to mislynch me because I would not be functionally helpful at that point.

    I hope that makes sense.

I generally prefer to focus on reads over claiming because I mainly consider how I feel about other players when voting. My home site's meta is primarily founded on claiming though, although I was never much of a fan of that because I found playing through a focus on reads to be more interesting.

It looks like only four of us have been on so far, so I'm probably going to come back in a couple hours (inb4 a new person posted when I was writing this message)

    1. I think it was a Simpson's themed game. I was Homer. I called out a couple evils day 1. There were 2 evil teams & eventually the game came down to whomever got their votes in first. Town ultimately lost as town is generally less organized than mafia. Gave those $%#!s hell though (there were 2 failed attempts on my life).
    2. Pressure usually peaks my curiosity. My reaction is usually pretty chill. Sometimes I get irritable or just completely ignore it. My reaction depends more on my mood than my role/alignment though. They can be related (like if I've done everything but claim my special role & people I'm certain are town are successfully pushing my lynch).
    3. A few things. Keeping track of votes, picking up on curious wording, making note of interactions, reassessing comments after mafia flips, etc
    4. I've played with Dan & Catty
    5. I'll answer this one later when seen/heard more

    Hey folks,

    Zen Blade here.

    1. First time here, looks like a nice town, uh... forum.
    2. I take a few moments, get up, walk around if need be, and then I respond the best I can.
    3. I sit back and watch what people are doing. Mostly I look for reads on people in person, maybe apply some verbal pressure to see how they respond and if the response is genuine or forced. Completely clueless how to do it without some form of Audio/Visual.
    4. Never seen or heard of anyone here. That makes me nervous. I believe in safety in numbers.
    5. The first three people who responded are mighty suspicious to me.

I'm a bit curious about what gives people away in forum games. If anyone has some thoughts, I would love to hear them, and then I can keep my eyes open.

    Best,
    Zen Blade

It does make sense. I'm liking Vinnie's posts so far. It is fair to dedicate your time on scumhunting/reading other players than only focusing on yourself. Though it's important to make sure you're not in danger of being lynched, I find bringing up/supporting other cases to be more productive

I don't really get 1 and 5. You say it looks like a nice town, but the first 3 posters (me, fleur, and ara) you say are very suspicious. Does that mean you find !-!22 and Kevan to be town? What makes you say that? And what is suspicious about us three?

I see you're only used to IRL mafia, but how do you plan on adapting to a forum style.

I would suggest reading the games players have linked to get a sense how forum games go/how those players have played in their home forum

Why do you think this? I've never sussed a player for their avatar. I find avatars to be easier for identifying players visually. Currently its pretty hard to tell you and Kevan apart from a quick glance

Actually Daniel, what was the purpose of your 5th question? Naming a scum team with pretty much no reasoning behind it doesn't seem helpful to me although I could be missing something.

just to make sure, we're talking about role claiming right? I don't think I've played a game where most people just role claim instead of making reads

it's a common question in my home forum, but it's sometimes helpful to look back if the player flips red. Though I do admit it's the least important question on there, some times people overthink their answer for that one

So far six people responded to your questions.

1 person (Ara) listed people not in the game.
2 people (Me and Kevan) and listed the first three posters.
2 people (Daniel and Fleur) listed seemingly random people.
1 person (Zen) dodged the question.

Can I ask why you listed the people you did?

How have you answered the question? I have no idea who your avatar is depicting, but I still don't understand your point about that.

So far six people responded to your questions.

1 person (Ara) listed people not in the game.
2 people (Me and Kevan) and listed the first three posters.
2 people (Daniel and Fleur) listed seemingly random people.
1 person (Zen) dodged the question.

Can I ask why you listed the people you did?
those three were the top bios that stood out to me. Ash's career and home forum seems interesting, I found you wanting to me on the top of the member list funny, and i like drums's comment on having big balls lol

I think this is my 5th or 6th game (I started around February) and reading your bios you guys are pretty experienced. I look forward to seeing what you guys bring to the table. I tend to be observant but I don't want to really explain my strategies yet because I like playing it close to the vest and not giving scum anything to work with. If you have a problem with that, oh well.

To add, I spend a lot of time going through my leads and tend to have a bunch but most don't lead anywhere so I will try to only share those when I have solid evidence.

The avatar is of "Vicious" from Cowboy Bebop...

He is in a long trench coat with a sword, preparing to fight the person looking at him. If you don't know who "Vicious" is, that may not seem too bad. If you do know who Vicious is, it's way worse... since he was a member of and eventually the head of a criminal syndicate, and we are playing a game called "mafia".

Also, I play (at times) a very non-literal game, which likes to be playful and joking. I realize that is harder to sense while reading a forum board, but until there is information in the game, I think it is best to enjoy ourselves and not to interrogate everyone. Most of the people here (including me) are relatively new or brand new. Let's let everyone chillax and eventually someone will let slip something incriminating.

    Cheers,

    1. If you’ve played on a forum, please link the last game you played. If you can’t link one then please describe how it a bit and what you did it in (This is the most important one to answer if you don’t answer anything else)
-Sadly, I am coming off of my worst game yet (in my opinion) but it was Watchmen at Jetnation.

    2. How do you handle pressure?
Im pretty chill and try to be very open. Sometimes that gets me into trouble and I've been mislynched but it's all in the process

    3. How do you scumhunt?

    Any way I can really

    4. Do you know any of the players here? If so who and how?

    None

    5. Name a 3 person scumteam

Starting at the top: !22, then the bottom: Zen, and somewhere in the middle: Dekay

So the last game I played is actually still ongoing, so I can't really say much. Before that I hosted a game, then the last one I played I thiiiiink was based on The Bachelor. Don't think there was one after that. I did bad.

    2. How do you handle pressure?

Alright, I guess. Though I can have a tendency to get my ear turned by the wrong people sometimes. That's as much as I'll say about my most recent game.

    3. How do you scumhunt?

Usually by overanalysing lol. The slower paced games I usually play afford me a good opportunity to make detailed reads and go post-by-post. Time will tell if I get the same chance in this game.

    4. Do you know any of the players here? If so who and how?

Nobody in this game, though I know Phighter from the XHF Network. Think Bobby Barratt plays/played here too.

    5. Name a 3 person scumteam

Uh... You, Ara and the guy with the weird name?

I can see Ara popping up a few times aside from my post in the possible scum team list. Was that random or is there a reason why you think so?

I can't speak for others but I just went with people whose names stood out in the thread, and the guy who asked the question in the first place. Not gonna lie, I've got no chance of reading anyone properly on D1 as I don't know anyone's play styles so any votes will come at random unless someone screws up real bad.
