The real Olympics are cancelled, but fortunately we are replacing them with our very own online Olympics - right here on Mafia Universe!
Of course, this site is mainly for playing mafia games, but a lot of users also enjoy getting to know and play with each other in other types of games.
There will be 9 events throughout June and July. Depending on how quickly or slowly Event 1 wraps up, maybe we'll go into August as well.
Anyone can participate. Most of the games don't require too much time.
PRIZES
This is of course all just for fun, but there will be a running medal count, and even if you place outside of the medals you will still earn points for an overall score.
All podium finishers will earn an MU award. I.e. even if you only play one event and earn a top 3 placing in that, you can get an award added to your profile.
The final overall winner will additionally be granted a custom title (should they want one) and a custom color on our Discord server.
SCORING
There will be 9 events. Your final overall score will be your 8 best scores added up. This means you can stand to miss (or host) one event and still have as good a chance of winning as anyone else.
You earn points per event based on your placing in said event. Most events should be able to produce a ranking from first to last - or something close to it that still allows the scoring system allow to be implemented in some way.
1st place: 16 points
2nd place: 12 points
3rd place: 10 points
4th place: 8 points
5th place: 6 points
6th place: 5 points
7th-8th place: 4 points
9th-12th place: 3 points
13th-20th place: 2 points
21th and after: 1 point

EVENTS
Sign-up/submission threads will be located in the Other Games subforum, will soon be viewable on the front page of Mafia Universe (we will add a tab for "Other Games Sign-ups"), and there will of course also be posted links in this thread.
EVENT 1 - JUNE 11: The Mayor (Host: @Beck and @Thingyman)
The Mayor will be the opening game of the Olympics. It will also be the most "demanding" game, but technically you could win this game without ever making a single post. Realistically, you may need to spend 5 minutes on it every day.
The Mayor is very simple: Participants are spread out across different threads, e.g. 10 players per thread. These players then have to vote for a Mayor within 24 hours. The player with the most votes becomes Mayor and earns the right to eliminate two players from their thread and thus eliminate them from the game. Rinse, repeat until there are 2 players left in each thread, at which point all players merge into one final thread where the same process repeats itself.
Once we are down to 2 players, the two finalists each make a speech, and those who were eliminated from the final thread cast a vote for who they'd like to see win.
EVENT 2 - SUBMISSIONS OPEN JUNE 13: Walrus (Hosts: @Thingyman, @M Plus 7, @KnightsofCydonia, @roro__b, @BLOODYRAIN10001, @nutella, @Logic and @Visorslash)
In Walrus you try to submit a song that you think the Walrus host will like and give a good score. That's mostly all you need to understand.
I.e. Thingyman might have a category named "Pop songs from the 90's", and you then submit a song that fits that category and if Thingyman likes it, then you'll probably earn a good score.
There will be 8 Walrus hosts, and they will each have their own category. Based on how well you do, you earn between 0-10 points for any given category. However, you should only submit for 7 of the categories. This is so that the hosts themselves can also play - i.e. they will submit for the 7 other hosts' categories.
EVENT 3 - SUBMISSIONS OPEN JUNE 22: SHEEP (Host: @Thingyman)
In this game you try to guess the most popular answer to a given question.
I.e. te aim is to match your answer with as many other players as possible. There is no such thing as an incorrect answer, so if someone asks, 'name a mountain' and everybody replies, 'Donald Trump' then that was the best sheep answer.
EVENT 4 - STARTS JUNE 27: Minority Rule (Host: @Thingyman)
Each round you'll be presented with a List of Items. You must cast a vote for one of these Items via PM to the host. You may change your vote at any time, given the round has not yet ended.
At the end of each round, the players who voted for the Item with the most number of votes are eliminated, and the next round begins.
The game will continue in this fashion until the player pool is reduced to 2 or fewer.
Whether your vote is honest or not doesn't matter. You should only ask yourself: "How do I get into the minority group and not the majority?".
With 2 or 1 player(s) left, the game will end and those left standing will be crowned victor(s)
EVENT 5 - SUBMISSIONS OPEN JUNE 28: The Hidden Singer (Host: @Chemist1422)
A game based on Korean singing show "Hidden Mask Singer", which now also has an American version called "The Hidden Singer".
Put simply, participants must anonymously submit 60-90 seconds of them singing a song (using Vocaroo or any other app/site they want) to the host. Participants then face off in a bracket system with the winner advancing to the next round.
All MU users - even those not participating in the Olympics - are allowed to vote for a winner in each round. They won't know who is actually singing, they are just voting for they think is the best and deserves to move on. Rinse, repeat until we have a winner.
EVENT 6 - SUBMISSIONS OPEN JULY 9: Flash Game (Host: @Thingyman)
Thingyman will choose a flash game for everyone to play.
You then just simply post the best score you can get in the game within the deadline.
EVENT 7 - JULY 18: Lie Swatter from the Jackbox Party Pack (Host: @Thingyman)
A multiplayer version of the single-player mobile app that Jackbox Games released earlier, Lie Swatter challenges up to 100 players to correctly guess if presented trivia statements are true or not, "swatting" those that are false. Players earn points for correct answers and lose points for incorrect ones.
I will host this on my Twitch and it will be live streamed. You just simply play from your phone, while following the stream.
EVENT 8 - SUBMISSIONS OPEN JULY 19: Elephant SHEEP (Host: @Logic)
This is like sheep except each response must start with the letter the previous response ended with.
EVENT 9 - SUBMISSIONS OPEN SEP 10 (sorry for the delay!): Knockout SHEEP (Host: @Thingyman)
Same as regular SHEEP (event 4), except in this variant you only advance to the next question if you earn a SHEEP aka give the most popular answer.
I.e. if Q1 is name a fruit and the most popular answer is "banana", but you answer "apple", then you aren't moving on to Q2. However, the rest of your entry is still used for the purposes of finding a winner.
