Unpopular mafia opinions?

as the title says, share mafia unpopular opinions here i'll get us started

I have sort of a love-hate relationship with f3, in the sense that i love it in turbos and hate it in regular games. It's mostly because I hate doing long iso's; I think it's just so boring & stressful. In turbo games people post *way* less and you have to rush to make a decision somewhat quickly so it's more entertaining imo. People also don't tend to take turbos all that seriously so if you $%#! up it's just like maybe tomorrow

automatic sleeping at f4/MYLO/whatever we're calling it now is overrated

not saying to never do it, but it should be dictated on the exact circumstances of the particular gamestate rather than a blanket rule

unless your community meta is slower paced and more reading-heavy, SOD walls are inherently anti-town regardless of your alignment

there's a natural flow of conversation to be had in the aftermath of the previous EOD + the nightkill(s), and someone plopping a wall down and demanding that everybody stop what they're doing and read it is selfish and entirely disrupts the natural, useful conversation that can permit

I'm not saying to not prewrite walls all together, but the smarter play is to introduce the wall's core ideas, get people talking about the concepts, and then when there's a natural ebb in the discussion, then drop the meat of it

anyone who makes a post over 400 words is stupid because their post is getting skimmed by most people and your point will be missed

same thing with using a difficult vocabulary and big words talk as simply as possible so its easier to catch your point

Walls are fine, your inability to have an attention span longer than 30 seconds or be able to comprehend what makes a wall villagery or wolfy doesn't make them inherently bad.

Poor wall formatting can make a wall bad, but not 'having a lot of content in one post' in particular.

Words don't matter, what matters is thought, and an in depth post with a lot of room for visibility of thought makes reading people significantly easier.

I semi agree with this, I think 36/12 is fun but any day phase longer than that is snoozefest for sure (i only join anything longer when I like the mechanics).

The worst offender of this is 9-13 player 48/24 games though. I once joined a 48/24 9p bc I liked the mechanics, instant regret.

Fake emotion as town is great. Fake confidence in reads as town is great. Town should just lie more in general.

if you're uncomfortable with emotion in your mafia game, you're probably uncomfortable with emotion in real life, and that's a skill that you might benefit from practicing!

Right, but the famous people are normally only targetted on Day 1 for not living up to their previous levels of fake fame.

Large neighborhood/adventure mechanics are bad and soul-sucking regardless of alignment rand. Yes I'm aware I hosted Throne Mash.

Setup balance is more determined by player list and rand than by minute role tweaks. Most setups played are balanced enough. Most people complaining about setup balance are ignorant.

Multitabling is toxic for game integrity and in most cases shouldn't be allowed

Saying your n0 in one of your first ~4 posts in a turbo cop 9er is bad play, both real or fake

Playing under an unoutted alt is legal cheating
