Who's hyped to be euphoric with you all tomorrow? This girl!
woooo
Reveal happening! I usually post during, but a bit too busy this time, look out for links and results sometime after the live reveal. Thanks for understanding!
4. Euphoriaeuphoria, liberation, contentment, pride, triumph, jubilation
Phew, alright, this will sound especially good after the masking category. This submission should exude that feeling of complete euphoria that can come for any number of reasons, whether accomplishing something meaningful or being true to one's self.
For any LGBT+ / non-neurotypical / etc. submitters, this could be an I'm out of the closet now cat. That interpretation is up to the submitter, and is certainly welcome, but not required.

Somehow this isn't Moose... *double checks notes*. Interesting. It's goofy, fun certainly, I guess being crazy and accepting that could be argued to be euphoric, but I'm not feeling it.

Obsidia Ft. CoMa - Beautiful
Submitted by: Owner Of A Lonely Heart
The repetition isn't entrancing the way I'd hoped, the song sort of falls flat after a bit and never recovers. It's okay though. The catfit is difficult to pin down, I can't really sense any theory.

Trash80 - Rest to reset
Submitted by: Visorslash
So much minor key for a euphoric cat... and that alone certainly isn't a problem, but outside of that there are no lyrics and no real sonic triggers for any of my descriptor words. The song is pleasant though! It has bleeps and bloops, so I'm guaranteed to at least like it, but it's lacking impact.

The Chariot - The City
Submitted by: Aladdyn
I could easily see how this could be euphoric for some people, but it's pretty tough for me... so this is pretty difficult to rate in that regard. I wasn't really looking for a "get up and fight" feel here, but I can respect how it still fits the cat's elements. I can't stand to listen to the song though.

I sometimes really love cheese, but this is not in my palette. I get why it would feel liberating to break up with someone and not need them, but other than that sense lyrically I don't quite get the other things I was looking for.

I support more trans music! The style isn't really my thing at all, so this is a tough one to talk about. It's anthemic enough for a respectable catfit.

I've tried CSH multiple times but despite appreciating the lyricism I can't seem to get anything out of it, and this time is no different unfortunately. Given the song's lyrics and progression, the catfit is very easily understood.

I'm all for supporting LGBTQ+ artists, especially in a sub-genre where it could be particularly hostile, so this is cool. The backstory behind the presentation of the video is neat too. The song itself is such an intriguing approach to pride over particularly blunt lyricism.

A bit too noodly for me, but it has its moments where I find myself grooving along to it. I was surprised by just how expressive it is considering the type of song. The guitar soloing is very objectively a catfit, let alone the surrounding instrumentation.

Depeche Mode - Clean
Submitted by: hollowkatt
I know this song really well! In my perception, there's some sense of the narrator convincing himself that he's clean when he's really struggling, and I'm left wondering how genuine this euphoria is. Maybe that's just me, either way it works. As a Depeche Mode song even if it's not an all-time favorite of mine, it's still neat to hear it again.

While I don't mind longer songs, for my taste this carries on too long, but it's pretty good off and on. The combination of muffled but angelic vocals with the production and chugging instrumentation perpetuates this feeling of pride and accomplishment.

IMPORTANT: Submission Re-Opening (deadline for new entrants: Cat 7 reveal TBD)
If anyone who has already subbed, or anyone who didn't get around to it for that matter, would like to either change any of their remaining subs or enter a submission, please feel free! It's been easier to manage updates than I anticipated, and considering the nature of this walrus (7+ songs), I'm still happy to have new entrants continue to join us. I won't be able to accept new entrants beyond the cat 7 reveal, but decided to change my policy so that updates will be welcomed at any time.
It's been a real pleasure hosting this for you all so far. I'm so busy with summer class, getting ready to move, etc., so we'll see when Cat 5 (Existential) comes. I'm estimating three weeks from now (Friday, July 2nd), but I'll keep you updated.

(probably not robbed because catfit reasons but i love the song lol)
Hehehe that's fair! It had an intriguing set of polarized reactions in the live reveal. I had a really hard time with it personally.
a friend introduced me to this artist a while ago and this was one of the songs that grabbed my attention the most lol
I can see that hehe.
I'm feeling particularly existential today, which says a lot given my threshold for daily existentialism. Maybe I will be able to sneak this in sooner than I fear. Either way, I'm excited.
I can't believe I'm doing this, but it's on. It's existential crisis time!

Somehow I've reached 10,000 posts on this website now, and between that and my anniversary of coming out yesterday I've been feeling more reflective than normal (quite a bar). The support I received here upon coming out will always be one of my fonder memories over my time online playing mafia, but it's one among many that I've made on MU, TS, and elsewhere.
So I just wanted to use this post to express my appreciation for what the greater mafia community has meant to me. I'm beyond fortunate to consider myself a part of all of this wonderful group of people sharing memories, music, and accusations of being a wolf with each other. I'm not sure I can even get close to measuring the impact it had on my life, especially since my Champs run a few seasons ago. Thanks to everyone who makes this place great.
And we all know walrusing is better than mafia so I'm happy to make this post here.
I am so excited for this. Back to back week Tangy reveals! How about that?
5. Existentialexistential, mortality, insignificance, impermanence, suspense, inevitability
Death. Death is coming! Death is here.
This is distinct from the Funereal cat from last time, in which I wanted to hear a submission that evoked something bleak or mournful. Here I want a song that deals with or exemplifies the impermanence of human existence -- how we, as a species, deal with an existential crisis and/or the inevitability of our own mortality.
Ayreon - This Human Equation
Submitted by: KarmaDope
I am allergic to this, from the pretentious opening narration to... everything else, although I guess the lyrics are interesting. I don't quite understand the catfit, it doesn't really seem to touch on how we deal with death as an inherently human thing. It's a commentary on why people behave the way they do but not in the context of existentialism at all.

Tristam - Violence

Sounds generic and inoffensive for the most part, it doesn't engage me. This is a love song, I don't get much out of the song really talking about how humans deal with death here.

Love and Rockets - Ball Of Confusion
Submitted by: hollowkatt
Not a bad song by any means, it's fun and I appreciate the lyrics, but as I listened to it I wish it were like TJAMC style with lots more noise surrounding it, now that would make it interesting. Anyway, catfit is a bit huh? The social commentary is great, but it's too removed from existentialism for what I asked for. One point for being adjacent I suppose.
