Unfortunately I can't change the thread title! Tried already, hehe.
But the number of subs is still between 7-14, and there are 14 cats, so that's something, right?
That or Tangyrus. Hmmm... either way.
I suppose I could make a new thread, title it correctly, but... then I would have to re-post the first reveal I guess.
Something will happen.
I really just want to get to 10,000 posts huh.
I think I can edit the title if you want?

Yay, it happened!

2. Calm (the bizarro Anxious)calm, peaceful, soothing, meditative, otherworldly, ethereal
The Anxious cat was a highlight of my first walrus, something that I think many songs expressed rather well. I wanted to be unsettled, put on edge.
I am looking for the exact opposite now. Please help calm me down. The world and its minutiae does not matter to the truly meditative listener, and that's how I want to feel listening to your submission. There is nothing more I want than to be feeling like I am a feather floating on a cloud in the middle of a serene sky.
Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On
Submitted by: KarmaDope
A song with James LaBrie's vocals... calm? Really? Huh. Are we sure this was a not an Existential sub? I have trouble saying words for this; I have a history with Dream Theater that has aged beyond poorly.

Gazpacho - Dream of Stone
Submitted by: Marmot
This one is puzzling. It was harder to pick the Hardest-Sub-to-Score award for this cat, but this sub wins it... so yet again here are lots of words. The atmosphere has its compelling moments in terms of feeling depressive, but any warped sense of cat descriptors I get are forced out by the driving sense of rocky rhythm and vocals simultaneously running against them. I sort of wish I could grade separate parts of this song, because the catfit definitely fluctuates, but by midway (let alone by the end) I just have completely lost all sense for it, and so I couldn't justify giving it anything. As far as enjoyment, it has its moments, but I end up losing interest way too often to want to listen to the entire song. I certainly can enjoy long songs, but in this one's case, I feel strongly if it were shorter or more immersive, then the enjoyment score would have been a point or two higher.

Lotus - Lou Carcohl
Submitted by: Owner Of A Lonely Heart
Woah, from the moment this one starts we are in serious dangerous territory for this cat. This wins the I-Really-Don't-Understand-This-Catfit-Most-of-All award for this cat. The song itself is kind of cool.

Bastion Original Soundtrack - Build That Wall (Zia's Theme)
Submitted by: Ampharos
A neat folksy VGM ballad thing for sure, but about that catfit? No matter how much I squint, I feel like I am missing something. The vocal melody and lyrics prevent me from being able to calm down in any way. It's certainly cool, but ultimately I don't feel compelled to give it repeated listens outside this context, so the enjoyment score falls a bit for that reason.

Visage - Fade to Grey
Submitted by: hollowkatt
Intriguing sub because I suppose insofar as synthpop this is a bit subdued, but uh, ultimately way too engaging for any catfit points because I found myself unintentionally chair-grooving. It's a simple but pretty fun song!

Björk (and Evelyn Glennie) - Oxygen
Submitted by: Schiavetto
I love Björk and anything that features her singing, but to this cat... I suppose I can see it instrumentally, but her vocals are so dominant and obtrusive. Meditative is an antonym, haha. With all of that said, this is extremely neat, and I'm satisfied to hear it again. The combination of percussion, her voice, and the use of negative space is fantastic.

Laura Cahen - La complainte du soleil
Submitted by: LordQuas
This is very pretty even if it lacks lasting impact. The guitar draws my attention with its driving rhythm which is a massive problem for catfit, but the window through words like soothing can be at least detected through the voice enough for me to throw it a small catfit bone.

Submitted by: Visorslash
Interesting version of Clair De Lune, I have not heard this one. The percussion is particularly nice. Pleasant is the word that comes to mind, so I think I can see what the participant was thinking, but absolutely too active for catfit instrumentally and vocally.

Chari Chari - We
Submitted by: MyNameIsNothing
Ahhh... this is a banger. Groovy. Why subbed to this cat though? For as ever-present as all the elements are, this exact combination is infinitely pleasing in a simultaneously rhythmic yet hypnotic way, but I entirely struggle to see it as a fit here. No matter, I love this.

York & Nathan Red feat. Jörg Stenzel - Burning Flame
Submitted by: Guillotina
I don't know how it works exactly, but this is really cool. It starts off very promising for catfit purposes, even if a bit depressive, but then it derails pretty steadily because the elements make me headbop. It's also too dramatic or cinematic... or something that does not gel with what I wanted at all. So it was a tough catfit to score, and even though it fell flat, it deserved a bone. My enjoyment wanes just a bit to give it a favorite score (8.0+), but overall there is this sense of amazement throughout that makes the song thoroughly compelling.

*Cover of* Dorival Caymmi - Samba da Minha Terra / Maracangalha
Submitted by: schadd
I instantly recognized the first part of this, which was a bit confusing, but then I placed my familiarity (the base song has been performed and interpreted by a multitude of artists -- and for me, most notably in a much faster and rockier version by Novos Baianos, my favorite MPB act). This has a similar problem as the others revealed so far though in that it doesn't personally calm me down at all, it actively engages me too much... but I can at least sense a theory. A pleasant take on this for sure.

Otherworldly, sure, but this isn't the way I was envisioning. For the middle section of the song though, it sort of works. The other factors... impossible for me to see. Cool adventurous atmosphere though, I really enjoyed it. Intrigued enough to maybe check out the entire OST.

Submitted by: Aladdyn
Wow, this is neat. Was this the token Sigur Ros ripoff? Regardless, it's extremely enjoyable. The catfit is a bit of a rollercoaster because when the track picks up it pivots away from ethereal... but it works enough of the time to be very slightly above water.

I'm so down with this. It very much conjures up imagery for me like... what sitting in a void feels like? So it's calm and ethereal in that sense, like nothing else matters. Sidenote: is that the Red Room on the album cover?! Nice bonus. Given the name of the album, it has to be.

New computer acquired! It’s awesome.
I’ll let you all know for sure, but I’m pretty busy. I would guess the Cat 3 reveal may have to be next Saturday the 27th.
Confirming that this is the tentative plan, I cannot reveal this weekend. I'll update ideally early next week to see if that date will work for sure.

I almost had a panic attack today, and I listened to the album containing this song. It's if anything better than it was then. That is all.
Maybe I'll do systematic revisits this walrus. It's been on the back of my mind.
I can’t do tomorrow, but hopefully next Saturday. I’ll make sure to give you all a few days heads up before the next reveal date regardless of when it ends up being.
Edit: Yes, confirming this is very likely. I'll ping you all though because I'd rather not set it into motion until I'm as sure as I can be. (Also testing something.)

Well, I will actually keep this on hold for now. I'm on Spring Break this week, so I figured it'd be really likely to happen, but I underestimated how much I've needed to take a few days just for myself, and I didn't feel like listening to walrus music during that time after all like I thought I would. I will make sure to let you all know.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility!!

Plan is to hopefully pick this back up in May. I'll let you all know. I just don't have the headspace and time for this before then, but I really look forward to when I do.
