Critical Info

• Start Date: Monday, July 11, 2022
  
• Time length: 12 hour days, 12 hour nights. Starts 8 AM EST and ends 8 PM EST. There is no majority, ever.
  
• Posting Minimum: 10 posts or possible substitution.
  If a slot zero posts and no subs can be found they may be modkilled.
  If a slot zero posts two times over the course of the game, they may be modkilled regardless of whether subs are available.
  
• Night Actions are due and can be changed up to and up until 3 hours before SoD which is 5:00 AM EST. 5:01 EST: Invalid.
  
• Day actions window will open 1 hour after SoD and will close 1 hour before EoD (so from 9 am EST to 7 pm EST), nothing will be processed during ITA sessions. Actions can be pre-submitted.
• All actions must be submitted by private message to THIS account. Actions submitted to individual host accounts or via discord will not be accepted unless otherwise stated.

BASIC RULES

• Specifically, please make yourselves aware on the angleshooting rules. We, (the hosts), know that these rules are hard to master for an experienced player, let alone someone new to MU. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
• We would like to highlight a few additional rules that are covered under MU rules but are a reaccuring problem in mashes:
  1. Do not talk about what someone is doing outside the game. For example, do not talk about whether someone's discord light is "on" or "off." Do not talk about whether someone is online according to the site. Etc. You are allowed to think these things in your head, but you cannot say them in the game thread.
  2. Do not mention, refer to, or copy and paste host or moderator communication. Do not mention or ask the host questions in the game thread.
  3. Do not copy and paste anything from private chats. Only paraphrase.
  4. Do not mention any particularities about your role PM, such as wording, and NEVER paste anything from your role PM.
  5. Do not talk about substitutions or modkills. In particular, do not speculate as to why someone may have been substituted or been modkilled.
  6. Do not talk about this game outside the game thread (unless you have a private chat)
  7. Mods are players too! If you need a moderator help, contact Roro__B or Dawoodle. Or contact any of the hosts, and we will refer you to a mod that isn't playing in the game.
  
  
• Flavor claiming IS NOT ALLOWED. Character claiming IS NOT ALLOWED. The names of your abilities are flavour, and can NOT be claimed.
  
  We will repeat it: hinting at your flavor, character, ability names, or anything related to your flavor is NOT ALLOWED.
  Flavour claims will be punished (up to and including modkill).
  
  You should not speculate on the flavour of other players, doing so may be punished (up to and including modkill).
  
  
• You ARE allowed to claim what your ability DOES, but you must paraphrase, and you can never quote or use direct language.

Win Conditions

The Villager win condition is "You win when you have eliminated all wolves."
The wolf win condition is "You win when you achieve parity with the village."
Third Party Win Conditions may or may not exist.

General Mechanical Tidbits

• All actions are private (submitted via PM), rather than public, unless otherwise indicated in your role PM.
• Night zero actions are not allowed unless otherwise indicated in your role PM.
• There are no restrictions on targeting the same player multiple nights in a row unless stated in your role PM.
• You cannot target yourself unless otherwise noted.
• Sleep is allowed, and there will never be locked votes/Lilo announced, with one exception. In a final 3 situation with exactly 1 wolf and 2 villagers, votes will be locked and lilo will be announced.
• There are guaranteed to be no wolf godfathers in this game.
• If an investigative role does not work or is roleblocked, they will receive a message saying “no results.”
• Here is the difference between possible wordings of "fail" versus "roleblock." If an ability fails, then they visited the player but the action did not work. If a player is roleblocked, they do not even visit the player (and the action does not work).

• The Wolf faction does NOT assign their Factional Night Kill to a single player and therefore cannot be interfered with in any capacity (aside from the target being protected).
• Wolves can target other wolves with actions.
• Flavor may be alignment or role indicative (but assume at your own risk). The flavor will not only contain players that are playing in the mash. You are not allowed to publicly speculate what flavor somebody may be.
• ITA vulnerability in modbot works as follows: "The vulnerability modifier defines the minimum chance that each ITA shot directed at you will hit. If the shot's hit chance is greater than this percent, then the shot's hit percent will be used. If it is lower, then this percent will be used instead." If you have any other questions about how modbot deals with ITAs and possible modbot mechanics, feel free to ask the hosts.
• Event prizes can be roleblocked and tampered with.

ITAS


In this game, there will be 2 ITA sessions per day. One will occur at 12 PM EST, and the other will occur at 5 PM EST. Each session will last 1 hour exactly. ITAS will be handled by modbot, which means to shoot someone in ITAS you need to go [ita.]TARGET[/ita.], but the flips will be handled by the hosts.

You are allowed, by default, one shot per DAY, not one shot per session. Taking multiple shots when you do not have them may be punished. The default base ITA hit chance is 15%. ITAs will last until there are 12 players or fewer at the beginning of a day.

Create your own Bingo Card Event!

This is an event that consists of two parts.

Part 1 - Night 0:

You have 25 items to place out on a 5x5 Bingo Card. Feel free to use the Bingo Card template in the spoiler, or make your own (draw by hand, make a grid in paint, whatever as long as it's readable):

The items (= words, emojis, gifs) that you will place out on the board as you want, are the following:

Plus one [FREE SPACE] that you may place wherever you want. The total number of items needs to be 25 for the Bingo Card to count.

An example of how it could look is in the spoiler below.

When you are done, you can submit your Bingo Card to the host account WITH THE TITLE "BINGO CARD EVENT". You can do this until the start of day 1.

Part 2 - Day 1:

Rules

- You will use the Bingo Card that you create for yourself during the game, during DAY 1 only.
- The OBJECTIVE with this Bingo card is to fill in one horisontal AND one vertical line as fast as possible and submit your filled in card to the host account WITH THE TITLE "BINGO CARD EVENT"! We will accept submissions for the full dayphase.

- To mark off an item as filled in, it needs to satisfy the following criteria:

1. For each item you fill in, you need to link to the post where you found it.
2. You need to include WHOSE post it was.
3. You may only include ONE post per player in your solution, in total. If more than one item is posted in one and the same post by a player, you need to specify which word you choose.
4. You cannot use your own posts to fill out a box.

- If the card or the solution is considered invalid, you will most likely be contacted about it, there's no guarantee for it however.

Some Notes on the Game

Hello, Welcome to MU Anni 2022!

Dobby decided to make the game Role Madness. You all signed up for Role Madness.
Why would anyone do such a thing!? I have no clue.

Here are some notes on what to expect from such a ridiculous idea!




Information Gaps
Providing some info here so everyone has it:

• Apoc will mainly be responsible for processing Night Actions. Wolves already know this, so now you do too.
• This game features private or "silent" ITAs. They will be processed as so: "A silent shot was fired at [PlayerName]" and results posted as Hit or Miss.

Action Processing

• You will not receive a "Received" message indicating that we have gotten your action submission.
  
• You will not receive a "Processed" message from the Hosts. (If your action returns some information or results, we will of course message you with that)
  
• We simply won't have time to send hundreds of messages each night on top of processing actions. Assume we processed your action and hope we don't make a mistake.
  
  
• Day actions or any "immediate" actions will be processed as soon as we can get to them. There may be some delay...it's just the nature of Day actions!
  
• No player can be roleblocked or protected on consecutive nights, even from different sources. If you attempt to roleblock/protect a player who was, for any reason, roleblocked/protected on the previous night...you will still visit your target, but your action will fail.

Role Design / Anti-Claim / Wolf Fake Claims
This game features 191 roled players. With that comes the problem of Mass Claiming which must be addressed.

The wolves have not only been given safe Fake Claims, but often have actual abilities to support those fake claims (in addition to any normal wolf abilities they may have and try to keep secret from you).

Many villagers will have traditionally "wolfy" roles.

Many wolves will have traditional "villager" roles.

There may or may not be a Factional Wolf Anti-Claim in the game.

There are definitely many Wolf roles which will make you regret giving them information about your roles (up to and including killing you).


You still may claim your roles and actions, just be sure that doing so is worth it.


Attempt to solve this game via player claims at your peril.

Not all celebrations are fun and games...

Day 1

Every year, Mafia Universe has this big festive event that everyone seeming enters optimistically, but comes out of drained of all happiness and energy. On a philosophical level, perhaps this is how celebrations usually go?

Mafia Universe has survived through a lot. Drama and intrigues of all kinds, and ome previous birthday parties that we will not call out, to name a few. People have said the community is dying, over and over, for years. Most recently, a pandemic struck. But Mafia Universe survived through that, and still stands. In fact, it seemed to even thrive off it.

But Mafia Universe is starting to get old. Seemingly, more and more people are showing up to take part in the celebrations, not knowing if that year might be the last. We all like Mafia Universe to some extent, although most of us do have a love-hate relationship with the site. Some more than others. We've all tried to quit, but there's always something that draws us back.

And over, and over and OVER.



And Over, AND OVER AGAIN.




And now, we have 191 poor souls, here for a hype! time, perhaps a last one? A feast without precedent. People are here to have fun, to reconnect with eachother, or learn to know new people. Some people are here only because of the rumours of a unique, once in a lifetime experience. The spirits are running high and the expectations are cautiously optimistic.

Yes. Everyone does in fact seem to be in high spirit.


Everyone but Mafia Host. With each sign-up, the visions of their downfall has become more and more of a reality. Just the thought of the pressure on them during an ITA-session, let alone the END OF DAY makes them want to curl up into a tiny ball and hide, but they also know that, for the people to have fun, and to perhaps reinvigorate the site, sacrifices have to be made, even if it will be at the cost of his own health.

This ability cannot be roleblocked, but the kills may still be stopped by protective abilities.

Here's the deal: I will only accept to be removed from this game (die) in two ways:

1. The players with the following win condition: "You win when you achieve parity with the village." decide to use their kill power, be it factional nightkill, night vigilante, day vigilante or some other hidden kill power, to remove me from the game.
2. One or more of the players with the following win condition: "You win when you achieve parity with the village." decide to use their ITA shot on me AND it must be followed by town retaliating against said shooter(s) as if they claimed "I am mafia" with size 7 bold red letters.

Exceptions can be made if, instead of mafia, the above players belong to a third party faction which REQUIRES killing town to win.

If your win condition happens to be: ""You win when you have eliminated all wolves."
