Democratic Republic of Mafia
Welcome all to a new type of Mafia! One where there is a formal government system in play elected by and for the players!!
High Level Summary
This game will be 15 players run with a mountainous base: 12 town and 3 mafia.
However, each day there will be a campaign and election for a president which is protected for that day. That president will then elect their officials (VP and judges) that are protected from dying for that day. Depending on the number of players alive and whether it is LyLo or not, there will be a certain number of higher-ups (president, vp, and judges) that will be in place. Once the elections take place and the officials are chosen, then the remaining players (civilians) will vote among themselves for who should be up for trial. The number of individuals voted up for trial are chosen by the president and that number is dependent on the number of players alive in the game. Then, those civilians who are chosen for trial will defend themselves (like in Town Of Salem) and then the judges will vote on those civilians who are in trial that they want to kill. If the top vote is tied among the judges, the vice president will be the tie-breaker vote. This process will continue until the game is over or unless it is LyLo.
Day Phases
Each day is 48 hours and will be compromised of an election phase, choosing officials, picking players for trial, and defense of the civilians with a vote at the end from the judges and VP if needed to break the tie.
The first 12 hours of the day are dedicated to the campaign and elections for the president. The president is voted for in a private manner by the players with no public poll of the current cast of votes.
The second 12 hours of the day are dedicated to the elected president to pick their officials (VP and Judges) and the number of civilians that should be chosen for trial. There is no election for the VP and Judges, but it is up to the president to pick their officers.
The third 12 hours of the day are dedicated to the civilians to vote up who they want to be up for trial. The voting for this will be conducted in a private manner by only the civilians with no public poll of the current cast of votes. If there is a tie in the votes needed to choose between a civilian up for trial, the vice president will be the tie breaker.
The last 12 hours of the day are dedicated to the civilians who are up for trial to defend themselves. As the day comes to an end, the judges will submit their votes in a private manner for which civilian on trial they want to kill. If there is a tie in the votes needed to choose between a civilian up for trial, the vice president will be the tie breaker.
This day phase will repeat itself each day (LyLo rules will be applied to the day phase) and players have the option to "lock" their votes in. If everyone "locks" their votes in, the next phase of the day will commence without having to wait for it.

LyLo Rules and Numbers
In the case of LyLo no matter the number (f7, f5, or f3), there will only be an election for the president that is protected from dying that day. This means that there will be only one higher-up during any day of LyLo. This will only take at most the first 12 hours of the day. The next 36 hours will be a classic mountaineous LyLo with only one less player that can be voted out (the president).
Other Important Notes and Rules
As mentioned before, voting will take place in a private manner with no public poll of the current vote count at any point. However, players are free to discuss and disclose their voting information in the game.
Also as mentioned before, the day phases will repeat itself each day (LyLo rules will be applied to the day phase) and players have the option to "lock" their votes in. If everyone "locks" their votes in, the next phase of the day will commence without having to wait for it.
Additionally, throughout this game, if the official staff in place kills a town, then the entire staff will lose their positions and there will be a re-election the next day. Former members in office can be re-elected.
However, if the official staff in place kills a mafia, then the current president will remain the same for the next day but they have to choose their official staff (VP and Judges) again. Former members in office can be chosen again. If the president that is supposed to remain in office dies at night, their VP that was chosen will take over as president the next day and choose their official staff. Former members in office can be chosen again. In this case, the first 24 hours will be for the current president to pick their official staff (VP and Judges) with the following phases taking place afterwards as normal. If the president dies at night and there is no Vice President to take over, then there will be an election for the president and the following phases afterwards will take place as normal.
Players are also free to talk during any time of day and just because certain phases of the day time are dedicated to certain groups does not mean that no one else can participate in the discussion! Any player can chime in anytime they want on the thread during the day time just to make it clear!

Disclaimer
I do realize this is the first time this type of setup is in place and that this is a fresh idea I have had for about a month now that I have wanted to try out. I have discussed with some people about it and got some opinions of how to make the process smooth and tried to make the setup as balanced as I could, but being the first game with it, there may be somethings we find out together that seems unfair and unbalanced. I would appreciate any feedback/advice as the game goes on with the experience of the game and how I could potentially improve on it if this first game goes well! I hope you guys will enjoy it and excited to see how it plays out! May the Democratic Republic of Mafia commence!
