Usernames

Hello!

I would love for it to be more accessible for people to change usernames, as it is important to our self identity and can change over time.

If you did not want someone changing their username frequently, perhaps a cool down could be put on?

And to stop impersonators, when you change your name there could be a month where no one is able to claim your old username? :)

Considering the importance of meta combined with the relative size and melting pot nature of MU, I think there's a lot of utility in being able to consistently and reliably identify people.

I'd be fine with something like a "nicknames" system that was personally controllable by the user as long as there was a visible unique identifier that was easy to see when skimming games.

Pretty sure there are going to be technical reasons why this is not possible.
But plenty of long standing members have changed their usernames, they simply made another account

I'd consider dropping the 1993 from my account if possible, I just thought it was my login name not my display name.

Considering you can now publicly show which accounts are associated with your “main” I don’t see why you can’t just list your former accounts as alts and use your new alias on a new account as your “main”.

I have changed my name too, as my old username was changed on my old mafia community and I wasn't identified as that online anymore.

The downside was that it wiped all my games. Which was a price I was willing to pay for a change, but sadge.
